Apocalyptic Reincarnation: Start with a 30-million Bonus

Old Huang nodded and said, ”It should be fine now.”

Xiao Ye, who was next to them, turned his head slightly and became interested when he heard them talking about this. He excitedly said,

”If we become extra staff, won’t the base give us food every month? Then we won’t have to worry about starving to death anymore!”

Old Huang nodded and said, ”According to the rules of the Big Camphor Tree Base, it will only ensure we don’t starve to death, but the amount of food isn’t much. If you don’t want to be hungry, you still have to do more tasks.”

The three of them chatted, filled with wonderful expectations for the future.

Life in the doomsday is hard, but at least for them, there is hope; life will definitely get better.

.....

After leaving Oil City, Li Tie began piloting the helicopter towards the base.

From Oil City to the Big Camphor Tree Base, they have to stop at the Transfer Station in Xiu County for refueling.

During the journey, Li Tie piloted the helicopter very steadily.

This reassured Li Yu, who had been worried.

Ant, sitting in the co-pilot seat, occasionally gave Li Tie pointers on his operation.

No accidents occurred.

Soon, they arrived in the airspace above the Transfer Station in Xiu County.

Li Yu used the intercom to contact Zhou Tian and the others on the ground ahead of time.

The helicopter landing required the most skill, so Li Tie held his breath and controlled the helicopter steadily.

He had practiced landing seven or eight times today in Oil City, but at that time, there were only he and Ant on the helicopter. Now, there were several people on board, putting significant pressure on him.

Steady, steady, Li Tie silently chanted to himself.

As the body of the helicopter descended, they landed smoothly on the ground.

Li Tie released the control stick, his palms covered in sweat, but fortunately, he wore a layer of gloves.

Li Yu walked behind him and patted him on the shoulder.

”Well done.”

Li Tie felt the vibration on his shoulder, and inwardly he was extremely happy. He felt more confident about the remaining half of the flight.

Soon, Li Yu and the others stayed at the Transfer Station for less than twenty minutes and refueled the helicopter.

Li Yu instructed Zhou Tian, ”In six days, Xiao Jun and the others will arrive, so you should return to the base with them. Take everything you need from the Transfer Station and lock the door.”

Zhou Tian quickly nodded and said, ”Understood, when Ju Tianrui came yesterday, he already mentioned this to me.”

”Okay, be careful while you’re here. We’re leaving now.”

”Goodbye, Director Li.”

As the helicopter departed, Zhou Tian stood still, seemingly lost in thought.

”Brother Tian, we’ll be returning to the base in a few days; it’s great,” said one of his team members excitedly.

But Zhou Tian wasn’t as happy. He whispered, ”There’s always a reason for such orders. Being suddenly told to return to the base means something has happened, or something might happen in the future. Forget it, let’s not think about it. Brothers, pack up these few days, and we’ll leave with Xiao Jun soon.”

”Got it!”

....

At five-thirty in the evening.

Li Yu arrived at the Big Camphor Tree Base. From the air, Li Yu could see the construction progress of the Fourth Outer City.

Since the workforce doubled in the Fourth Outer City, the efficiency seemed to have increased significantly.

He still remembered that when he left, the construction of the walls had not yet reached the big tree outside, but now they had already extended to that area.

They were now using chainsaws to cut down the big tree.

Buzz buzz buzz—

Li Yu and the others directly flew to the Second Walled City.

The Second Walled City was now inhabited by Professor Zhang Qiwu and his students.

The First Bottle City currently served as the detention place for those who rebelled.

After getting off the helicopter, Li Yu stretched his muscles and bones.

He saw Zhang Qiwu and the others walking over.

”Director Li.”

”Yes, Elder Zhang, is there anything?” Li Yu asked, twisting his neck.

”I discovered a major issue within the base,” Zhang Qiwu said with a frown.

”Oh? What problem?” Li Yu became interested upon hearing him say so.

”During this period, I’ve also looked at the First and Second greenhouses. In this unpredictable environment of the doomsday, using PC sunshine panels is indeed a good choice.

However, I feel that there are some unreasonable aspects within the greenhouses; the electricity consumption is too high. I heard from An Ya that besides the First and Second Outer Cities, there are greenhouses in the Third Outer City and the Inner City.

If that’s the case, then the electricity consumption will be enormous.

Although I don’t know how the base generates electricity currently, it’s pretty easy to guess: coal-fired power generation, solar power generation, and diesel power generation.

But I did a simple calculation; such consumption greatly impacts our energy resources. Some equipment in the greenhouses could be turned off, reducing production by at most twenty percent.

But it would save at least half of the electricity. If this level of electricity consumption continues, our future energy resources might not be sufficient...”

Li Yu started listening carefully, but as he heard the latter part, his expression became more varied.

So that’s the concern about using too much electricity and consuming energy.

Speaking of this, Li Yu really didn’t know how to respond to him temporarily.

Since Zhang Qiwu and his team had just joined the base not long ago, they hadn’t been informed about the existence of the Zombie Generator yet.

At the Big Camphor Tree Base, the Zombie Generator was a top-secret existence.

Even many Outer City personnel were unaware of it.
