Apocalyptic Reincarnation: Start with a 30-million Bonus

”Heh... they don’t know, you don’t know either. The world out there is a world that eats people, a world that really eats people. Do you understand?”

Hiding in the dark, Song Yile heard this and his terrified eyes widened.

Eat people?

How is that possible?

His mother seemed somewhat unconvinced and spoke:

”No way. Maybe order has already been rebuilt out there. If you never go look, how would you know?”

His stern father pointed at his mother’s nose and cursed:

”Idiot! Idiot! Idiot!”

His father was so enraged he was panting heavily.

”I’ve been doing business for so many years, I understand human nature inside out. You can figure this out just by using your brain. You think us surviving till now is about strength? I’m telling you, if I hadn’t prepared this bunker before, and if we hadn’t just happened to be vacationing here, you really think we could have survived till now just on our own?”

”If I hadn’t stopped you from going out, you think you’d still be alive now?”

In his fury, his father was terrifying.

Veins bulged, spit flew everywhere.

”Do you really think staying here makes things better? All of us already have psychological problems, including you. Haven’t you noticed? If this keeps up, something horrific is definitely going to happen!” The gentle mother from before, for some reason, had become hysterical at this moment.

Her voice was sharp, like a madwoman.

Smack!

The father slapped the mother across the face, and a thin line of blood seeped from the corner of her mouth.

The bunker lights were already dim; the lamp overhead shone on the top of his father’s head, his face buried in shadow, making him look inexplicably terrifying.

But.

Song Yile mustered his courage and ran over.

Seeing his father beating his mother, he couldn’t stay hidden any longer. He had just run out of the bunker, and had to pass through the hall.

He hadn’t dared to come out before because he was afraid his father would find him. His father had strictly forbidden them to go out; if he discovered it, a beating was guaranteed.

But at this moment, seeing his father brutalize his mother, he couldn’t hold back anymore and rushed out.

”Don’t hit my mom!” Song Yile blocked his mother, his eyes full of defiance and rage.

His father was breathing hard, already furious.

Especially when he saw his son coming down from the steps leading up out of the bunker.

He became even more enraged!

The muscles on his face trembled uncontrollably; that ferocious face made Song Yile feel estranged—utterly estranged.

He started to believe what his mother had said: his father was sick, sick in the head.

His father roared in a low voice: ”You—did you go out?!!”

Like a wild beast, a raging beast howling!

Looking at his roaring father, Song Yile was terrified, but his mother was right behind him. He couldn’t back down!

He didn’t answer his father’s question; he only lifted his head stubbornly, pressing his thin lips together as he glared at his father.

”Answer me. Did you go out again? How many times have I said it—you can’t let anyone know where we live! There are Zombies outside!”

His father’s roar made his heart shudder; his legs began to tremble uncontrollably.

”Answer me!” he pressed again.

But he still didn’t speak; his father had scared him stupid.

Bang!

The man, hearing no response, flew into a blind rage, grabbed a stool and smashed it toward Song Yile.

”Song Tianyi, don’t you dare!” The woman screamed when she saw this.

She scrambled up, trying to block it, to take the blow for her son.

But she was still too late!

Bang!

Song Yile was knocked two meters away and fell to the floor.

Blood flowed from his head.

He slowly and painfully forced himself up, glaring at the father who had never hit him before.

”Song Tianyi, you beast!” The woman screamed, then pulled Song Yile into her arms, carefully checking his wound.

The man saw the blood on his son’s forehead, saw the stool in his hand, heard his wife’s wailing.

It was like his soul snapped back into his body; he stared blankly at his own hands.

”What am I doing? What’s wrong with me?”

Seeing the hatred in his son’s eyes as he looked at him, the man felt an extreme unfamiliarity.

Where am I? What’s happening?

It was as if all the strength drained out of him in an instant.

He walked, dazed and shattered, into the storeroom.

He closed the door and locked himself in.

Leaning his body against the wall, he slowly slid down to the floor.

After a long time.

His face was already streaked with tears.

His eyes were full of regret.

”What... the hell is wrong with me? And what’s wrong with them?”
