Apocalyptic Reincarnation: Start with a 30-million Bonus

Oil City.

Xiao Jun stood on the wall, watching the returning vehicles of Dong Tai and the others approach.

”Xiao Jun.”

”Ah, Director Li, you’re here.”

Xiao Jun turned his head to see Li Yu walking up behind him.

”This wall needs further reinforcement, it must be fortified to over eighteen meters. Not only should the height be increased, but the width must also be expanded.”

Li Yu placed his hand on the battlement, frowning as he spoke.

It’s already mid-September, and in at most half a month, another heavy rainstorm will arrive.

After the downpour comes intense solar radiation, and many people exposed to the sun without protection developed skin diseases.

Following that, the temperature plummets, and several days of snow will fall continuously.

He’s confident that at the current Big Camphor Tree Base, they can definitely withstand this natural disaster, but he feels Oil City is still somewhat weak.

”Does it still need reinforcement?” Xiao Jun looked at the already fifteen-meter-tall wall, somewhat puzzled.

This height could already block most of the Zombie Tide.

”Yes, it needs reinforcement. When Ju Tianrui and the others arrive, I want them to split the prefabricated Mobile Switch Blades onto the vehicles. Once they’re here, install the Mobile Switch Blades on the wall. You must be quick!”

Li Yu said sternly.

These Mobile Switch Blades had already been started by He Bing and others in the Outer City of the base when Li Yu set out for Southeast Asia.

The steel at the base benefitted from Third Uncle and Guo Peng raiding a steel mill in Guang City, accumulating tens of thousands of tons of steel, which was more than enough.

”Alright, as soon as the Mobile Switch Blades arrive, I’ll start installing them. At the same time, I’ll reinforce the wall.” Xiao Jun was naturally very pleased to hear Li Yu say that additional Blades would be installed.

Every time it rained, fending off zombies was troublesome.

The surrounding area was all plains, making it easy for zombies to gather. Unlike the Big Camphor Tree Base, which had many forests to naturally impede zombie gathering.

The wall height here is not sufficient, and its width is far from that of the Big Camphor Tree Base.

In terms of manpower, it was also far less than at Big Camphor Tree.

If it weren’t for relying on Oil City’s rich oil resources, where shallow ditches were dug outside Oil City and lit with oil to create a wall of fire, Oil City might have been overrun by the Zombie Tide long ago.

If the Mobile Switch Blades brought from the Big Camphor Tree Base could be installed, Oil City’s defenses could be elevated to a higher level.

”Yes, we’ve just started cooperation with Southern Paradise, so it’s not suitable for you to leave Oil City temporarily. Once the second transaction with Southern Paradise is completed next week, bring the oil and medicine back to the base with you.”

”Also, when returning to the base, bring Zhou Tian and the others at the Transfer Station back.”

Upon hearing this, Xiao Jun asked in astonishment, ”Huh? Without the Transfer Station, where do we rest when we travel from Oil City again?”

Oil City is over a thousand kilometers from Big Camphor Tree Base, and with their speed, it’s hard to make the trip in one day. Typically, they’d set out in the morning, reach Xiu County Transfer Station by evening, and make it to Oil City by noon the next day.

Li Yu said:

”Don’t worry about that, just follow orders.”

He couldn’t reveal that another natural disaster the likes of the serial disasters from a year ago was due in half a month.

In Oil City, they’re not worried about heating and power generation due to their oil and diesel generators.

With those two issues resolved, the only problems left are how to fend off the Zombie Tide and the food supply.

This time, Li Yu also had Ju Tianrui bring three months’ worth of food. Previously, to limit Oil City and prevent them from growing too large, they transported food on a monthly basis when shipping oil back to Big Camphor Tree Base.

During the last storm, Oil City nearly ran out of food, so Li Yu adjusted this policy to allow a one-time transport of two months’ food.

This time, Li Yu had Ju Tianrui bring a full five months’ supply of food.

Mobile Switch Blades, food, and even dozens of Protective Suits were brought over.

The Protective Suits were found at a previous military base, where they had stored thousands of sets; bringing a few dozen was preparation for the future.

Xiao Jun heard what Li Yu said and asked no more questions.

For some reason, following Director Li’s arrangements, he felt a familiar sense of impending storm.

Familiarity?

Xiao Jun seemed to recall that every time a terrifying natural disaster approached, Director Li would prepare well in advance, helping them to minimize losses.

Hiss~

He inhaled a sharp breath of cold air.

But he dared not ask.

Thinking of this, Xiao Jun looked at Li Yu with an air of reverence.

Although he didn’t know how Director Li did it, the series of coincidences was terrifying upon reflection.

Li Yu mentioned some precautions, not receiving a response from Xiao Jun.

So he looked up at him and saw Xiao Jun’s expression.

In Xiao Jun’s eyes, there was reverence, confusion, curiosity, and fear.

Li Yu was immediately alerted, realizing he may have said too much.

But he didn’t panic; he merely watched Xiao Jun with a fleeting murderous look directing sharply at him:

”Did you... get everything I just said down?”

In a state of shock and contemplation, Xiao Jun suddenly snapped back to reality, didn’t dare meet Li Yu’s eyes, and hurriedly bowed his head:

”Understood, I’ve got it down.”
