Reincarnated as a Mosquito, I Sucked the Reborn Empress to Tears

Chapter 49: Chapter 49: Spiritual Crystal? Can I Suck This Stuff?

“Ahhh—!”

Just then, an utterly wretched scream erupted, yanking Gu Yuexi back from her shock to reality.

Qin Feng, who had been unconscious on the ground, abruptly opened his eyes. He clutched his head with both hands, his face contorted as he thrashed madly on the ground.

The Cyan Flame Power injected by the Melt Heart Demon Spike was now burning ferociously inside his brain. The agony was a thousand, ten thousand times more terrifying than any physical torture.

’Fun! Fried his CPU, huh?’ Chu Sheng gloated. He hadn’t expected the first time he used his new mouthpiece on a living creature would be on a human brain.

Gu Yuexi watched his miserable state with an icy expression, feeling not a shred of pity.

’If you dare to try and kill me, you should be prepared for the consequences.’

Seeing his current state, his brain and Sea of Consciousness were likely reduced to a pile of mush. It was pointless to even think about interrogating him for the mastermind, he probably didn’t even know who he was anymore.

’Besides, even if I could ask, I probably wouldn’t get anything.’

’If that Leng Yan had any sense, she wouldn’t have contacted Qin Feng directly.’

Gu Yuexi shook her head and slowly raised her hand, preparing to end this pathetic, hateful man’s life with a single palm strike.

“BZZZZ! (No, Empress! Stay your hand! Spare him!)”

However, Chu Sheng, who was still perched on her shoulder digesting the vast Spiritual Energy, grew anxious.

He quickly sent a strong message to stop her through their Blood Covenant link.

’Holy crap! This is my personal Mental Power blood bag!’

’It would be such a waste to just kill him!’

’Once I finish digesting this wave of energy, I’ve got to suck him dry a couple more times, right?’

Gu Yuexi’s movement halted. Sensing the mosquito’s intensely “frugal” thoughts, she was rendered somewhat speechless.

Through the Blood Covenant, she explained coolly to Chu Sheng, “There’s no use keeping him. You’ve already sucked him nearly dry.”

“If I’m not mistaken, you were feeding on his ’materialized Mental Power,’ weren’t you?”

“Normally, only a Beast Tamer of the Fifth-Grade or higher can materialize a tiny portion of their Mental Power, and it’s extremely difficult.”

“Although a Spiritual Mind Master can do it earlier through special cultivation methods, the amount of materialized Mental Power is still not very large.”

“This Qin Feng is only First-Grade Late Stage. The amount he could materialize was minuscule at best, and you just drained almost all of it in one go.”

“As for the remaining formless Mental Power, I’m guessing you can’t absorb that.”

Gu Yuexi’s reasoning was simple. If this mosquito could absorb formless Mental Power, wouldn’t he have rushed her long ago when she was cultivating her own Mental Power?

’With his personality, could he possibly have resisted until now?’

’Is that so?’

Chu Sheng was suddenly disappointed.

’Ah, what a pity!’

He indeed couldn’t absorb formless Mental Power; the stuff didn’t even trigger his “appetite.”

’Otherwise, I’d have taken a bite out of the Empress’s forehead long ago!’

Chu Sheng looked at Qin Feng, who was now taking in more air than he was letting out, and smacked his proboscis in regret.

’But…’

’With this discovery, I’ve just added a new ’main course’ to my menu!’

’From now on, I won’t just look for powerful Demon Beasts to suck blood from, I’ll also have to find Spiritual Mind Masters to suck ’brains’ from!’

’As for Fifth-Grade or higher Beast Tamers…’

’Better forget it. With my current strength, provoking that level of expert would be a suicide mission.’

’Huh? Wait a minute!’

A flash of inspiration struck Chu Sheng’s mind. He thought of something crucial.

Spiritual Crystal!

Wasn’t the Empress’s goal in this assessment that Heavenly and Earthly Treasure called the “Spiritual Crystal”?

’From the name, you can tell it’s a treasure for enhancing Mental Power. And since it’s a ’crystal,’ it must have a physical form, right?’

’So… can I suck it?’

’It might sound a bit hard, but if it were ground into a powder, I should… be able to suck it, right?’

The more Chu Sheng thought about it, the more his heart burned with excitement.

Before, he had absolutely no interest in this Spiritual Crystal. After all, it was useless to him. With that time, he’d rather find a few more Demon Beasts to suck blood from.

But things were different now!

’If I can absorb this thing, wouldn’t I just… skyrocket?’

“Let’s go.”

Seeing that he had no further objections, Gu Yuexi wasted no more time. She brought her palm down decisively on the crown of Qin Feng’s head, completely ending his suffering.

Then she turned and continued to sneak toward the central area of the Secret Realm.

The girl and the mosquito were on their way again.

However, they hadn’t gone far before several furtive human Qi Blood signals appeared within Chu Sheng’s Blood Food Tracking range.

“BZZZ! (Empress, three hundred meters ahead to the left! Three of them hiding in the grass, looks like they’re trying to ambush us!)”

Gu Yuexi’s eyes turned cold.

Although she couldn’t understand Chu Sheng’s exact words, she could grasp the general meaning through the Blood Contract Mark.

’It seems Leng Yan really spared no expense to kill me, hiring more than just one person.’

’But…’

’The teleportation locations for entering the Secret Realm are random. Qin Feng finding me could have been a coincidence.’

’But how could these people find me so quickly and precisely?’

’Did someone place a tracking mark on me?’

The moment the thought arose, Gu Yuexi immediately dismissed it.

’Impossible. With my sensitivity to Mental Power, even if Leng Yan is a Seventh-Grade Beast Tamer, it’s absolutely impossible for her to leave a mark on me without me noticing!’

’Then… what’s the problem?’

’Forget it. I’ll just kill them first and figure it out later.’

Gu Yuexi didn’t bother to overthink it. Her figure flickered, and she vanished from the spot like a phantom.

「A moment later.」

A few brief, sharp cries came from the patch of grass, and then all fell silent.

They were just a few First-Grade Late Stage Martial Artists. Although they were all top-twenty students in their year, before her current self, they were as feeble as children.

Gu Yuexi walked over to the three still-warm corpses and began to search them carefully.

Taking advantage of the opportunity, Chu Sheng slowly took flight and headed toward the three bodies.

’The quality of a Martial Artist’s blood is a bit poor, but every little bit counts!’

Without a word, he dove, landed on one of the corpses, and ruthlessly plunged his Melt Heart Demon Spike into it.

[Qi Blood +2.2]

He flew to another corpse.

[Qi Blood +2.9]

One last bite.

[Qi Blood +2.5]

…

[Ding! A total of 8.6 Qi Blood has been absorbed! Current Total Qi Blood is 465.2!]

[Estimated 1.8 Evolution Points to be gained after digestion! Estimated Total Evolution Points will be 68.9!]

’Sigh, it’s better than nothing!’

Chu Sheng sighed. Human blood really wasn’t great. He needed to find Demon Beasts to suck!

’Hopefully, I can trigger my fourth evolution after this Secret Realm is over…’

At that moment, Gu Yuexi had pulled a palm-sized, bronze, compass-like object from the leader’s robes.

Right now, the Compass’s needle was trembling slightly, emitting a faint halo of Spiritual Power, and the direction it pointed…

Gu Yuexi held the Compass and slowly turned around.

She was stunned to discover that no matter how she moved, the Compass’s needle always pointed precisely at Chu Sheng, who was perched on a corpse!

’It’s not tracking me… it’s tracking *it*?’

A bolt of lightning flashed through Gu Yuexi’s mind, and everything clicked into place!

She understood!

This thing didn’t track a spiritual mark, but a specific energy signature!

The Cyan Flame Power!

It was the unique flame aura this mosquito inherited from the bloodline of that Eighth-Grade Azure Flame Flying Lion after its evolution!

Leng Yan… She and her Shadow Fang Squad had fought the Azure Flame Flying Lion for so long, she would be intimately familiar with this aura!

She had a Magical Artifact made specifically to track this Cyan Flame aura and distributed it to these assassins!

’She’s certainly got a few tricks up her sleeve…’

’Did she think that just by knowing our location, she could take us down easily?’

Gu Yuexi snorted coldly.

’A bunch of trash, just here to serve themselves up on a platter.’

’…Just great. They’re using me as a beacon?’ Chu Sheng was also speechless.
