Reincarnated as a Mosquito, I Sucked the Reborn Empress to Tears

Chapter 36: Chapter 316: Demon Beast Spiritual Wisdom Rating?

Gu Yuexi, for her part, reined in her complicated thoughts.

She calmed her mind and slowly began to refine the cub’s Essence Blood she had absorbed throughout the night.

As the last trace of Qi Blood merged into her limbs and bones, the Qi Blood Power within her surged, steadily pushing her strength to the Late Stage of a First-Grade Martial Artist!

However, before she could feel the joy of her breakthrough, a wave of irritation washed over her. A faint, stinging pain began to spread through the meridians in her limbs.

The side effects were starting to manifest.

Gu Yuexi frowned slightly. She knew this was the strain placed on her meridians from absorbing and refining High-Level Essence Blood.

’Without the aid of elixirs, continuing like this will inevitably leave behind hidden dangers that are difficult to root out.’

’A Vein-Protecting Pill… I absolutely have to get one!’

’Besides, the further I cultivate the Ten Thousand Beasts Melting Furnace Technique, the greater the risks. Especially after reaching the Fifth-Grade, the mortality rate for each breakthrough is over eighty percent!’

’If I can restart my path of Beast Taming, I won’t have to practice this Evil Technique anymore once I reach the Fifth-Grade in the future…’

At this thought, Gu Yuexi turned her head to look at the corner of the tent.

The sole surviving cub, the strongest of the Azure Flame Flying Lions, was curled up there, fast asleep.

A ruthless glint flashed through Gu Yuexi’s eyes. She had finally made her decision.

’I’ll take the gamble!’

’I’ll bet that this mosquito can defy all logic and evolve indefinitely!’

’Starting today, I will restart my journey as a Beast Tamer!’

She sat cross-legged and submerged her consciousness into her Sea of Consciousness. From the vast ocean of her memories, she retrieved a top-tier cultivation method for Beast Tamers that she had chanced upon in her past life. It was designed specifically to temper one’s Mental Power—the Void Observation Technique.

As she began circulating the Cultivation Technique, an invisible Spiritual Power started to gather and condense within her Sea of Consciousness.

As expected of the former Beast Taming Empress, her talent was nothing short of heaven-defying. In just a few short hours, she had already mastered the basics. It was as if the first, faint star had been lit within her Sea of Consciousness.

Lying nearby and still adapting to his new body, Chu Sheng instantly sensed a difference.

A cool, comfortable stream of Energy fed back into his Spirit through the Blood Covenant linking him and Gu Yuexi. It greatly soothed his Mental Power, which had been restless from his recent evolution.

’Huh? The Empress is… starting to cultivate her Mental Power?’

’Looks like she really does plan to walk the path of a Beast Tamer again,’ Chu Sheng thought, his interest piqued.

RING RING RING!!

Just then, the bell for class rang outside the tent.

Gu Yuexi opened her eyes. After a moment of thought, she stood up.

’Given the circumstances… I’d better go to class so the school doesn’t have any leverage against me.’

She carefully placed the lion cub into her Beast Taming Pouch and let Chu Sheng perch on her shoulder before walking out of the tent and heading toward the academic building.

Today happened to be the final school-wide strength assessment before the joint exams.

The third-year joint exams encompassed the entire Sui Ming Province and were hosted by the Provincial Education Bureau.

During this assessment, detailed information on every third-year student would be recorded and submitted directly to the Provincial Education Bureau, forming their initial files for the joint exams.

Therefore, this was more than just an assessment; it was akin to an unconventional “mock exam” that would determine school-wide rankings.

Gu Yuexi followed the students of Beast Taming Class Eight to the school’s Central Martial Arts Arena.

By now, the school’s thousand-plus third-year students had all gathered there. The air was filled with a cacophony of voices, creating an atmosphere that was both tense and electric.

“I’m telling you, for the Martial Arts Department, first place is definitely going to Zhou Kai from Class Three! He was already a First-Grade Martial Artist at the Middle Stage back in his second year, and now he’s at the Peak of First-Grade. They say he could break through to the Second-Grade at any moment!”

“…Tell us something we don’t know.”

“That’s nothing! The Beast Taming Department is even more cutthroat! Li Yueyao from Class One and Zhao Qingtian from Class Two are the real monsters! They’ve both contracted top-notch Demon Beasts with Intermediate Bloodlines!”

“Yeah, especially Li Yueyao’s Illusory Sound Spirit Fox. I heard it’s not only powerful, but its Spiritual Wisdom is even rated ’Upper-Grade’!”

“Upper-Grade Spiritual Wisdom?! Holy crap! Doesn’t that mean it’ll have the intelligence of a ten-year-old human kid when it grows up?!”

Besides its Bloodline Level, a Demon Beast’s Spiritual Wisdom was one of the most important criteria for judging its potential. It directly determined the beast’s ability to coordinate with its Beast Tamer, as well as its ultimate growth potential.

Spiritual Wisdom was divided into seven ratings, from lowest to highest: No Spiritual Wisdom, Inferior, Lower-Grade, Middle-Grade, Upper-Grade, Top-Notch, and Top-Grade.

A Demon Beast with Top-Notch Spiritual Wisdom could possess a mind comparable to a fifteen-year-old human upon reaching adulthood.

As for Top-Grade Spiritual Wisdom, a beast could possess a mature mind nearly indistinguishable from an adult human’s!

But that level of Spiritual Wisdom could generally only be found in bloodlines of King-level or higher!

Therefore, it was extremely rare for a Demon Beast with an Intermediate Bloodline to possess Upper-Grade Spiritual Wisdom, making it a situation worthy of envy.

Just as the crowd was buzzing about these geniuses, Gu Yuexi’s arrival caused a small commotion.

“Quick, look! The dumb School Beauty is here!”

“Tsk, tsk. She actually dared to show up? Isn’t she afraid of embarrassing herself?”

“Huh? What the hell! What’s that on her shoulder? Is that the mosquito?!”

A sharp-eyed student pointed at Gu Yuexi’s shoulder, letting out a cry of disbelief.

“Holy crap! How did the mosquito get so big? It’s jet black with red markings… its appearance is totally over the top!”

“Are you kidding me? That’s a mosquito? It must be ten centimeters long!”

“Everyone, feel its aura… This… this seems to be a First-Grade Early Stage Demon Beast? It… evolved?”

“An Alien Species? No way! A mosquito is actually an Alien Species?”

At this, the surrounding crowd was stunned.

They had only known that Gu Yuexi contracted a mosquito; they never imagined it was actually an Alien Species capable of evolution!

Now, seeing this ferocious-looking “giant mosquito” with its powerful aura for themselves, everyone felt as if their horizons had been broadened.

“So what if it evolved? It’s still just a mosquito,” one student sneered. “How high can its Bloodline be? It’s probably just a Low-Level Bloodline, right?”

“Exactly! A Demon Beast at the First-Grade Early Stage would probably rank in the bottom ten of our Beast Taming Department. And with that, she wants to transfer to Du Nan First Middle School? What a daydream!”

The much-watched geniuses had, of course, also noticed Gu Yuexi.

Zhao Qingtian of Class Two merely shot her a contemptuous glance before looking away. In his eyes, this was all just a pathetic farce to grab attention.

Meanwhile, Li Yueyao of Class One furrowed her lovely brows, her gaze toward Gu Yuexi filled with profound confusion.

’She really couldn’t figure it out.’

’Even a recognized genius in Jiang City like herself knew that her own strength would be considered mediocre at a place like Du Nan First Middle School, where true prodigies gathered.’

’Where on earth did this girl get the courage to submit that transfer application?’

Li Yueyao’s gaze fell upon the Molten Fire Blood Mosquito on Gu Yuexi’s shoulder.

She was an extremist when it came to “Spiritual Wisdom.”

Her family had once procured a Demon Beast cub with a High-Level Bloodline for her—an opportunity countless others could only dream of.

But upon learning that the cub’s Spiritual Wisdom was rated a mere “Lower-Grade,” she rejected it without a second thought.

In her view, a Contracted Beast without sufficient intelligence was nothing more than a mindless puppet, its future potential severely limited.

That was why she had chosen her current Illusory Sound Spirit Fox—its Bloodline was slightly inferior, but its Spiritual Wisdom was rated a high “Upper-Grade.”

’And a mosquito?’

’For such a low-level creature, it would be a miracle if its Spiritual Wisdom rating even reached ’Inferior.’ It was most likely the lowest possible rating: ’No Spiritual Wisdom’!’

’To choose such a creature as one’s first Contracted Beast was, in Li Yueyao’s eyes, a complete insult to the profession of Beast Tamer! It was a foolish act of self-sabotage!’

And so, as she looked at Gu Yuexi’s cold and tranquil face, only a single thought remained in her mind.

’This School Beauty has well and truly lost her mind.’
