Rebirth in Famine: She Thrives by Lucky Space

Chapter 800: 800 settle accounts

”Then, thank you, Weimin.”

”It’s what I should do. Yungui, since your field is the last one, can you plant a few more acres for us?”

”Both J Village and Sun Family Village want to plant more. I’ve put you last. Weimin, can we discuss this again during spring planting? I can’t guarantee anything right now, and I don’t want the kids going to those two villages. It’s too exhausting. The kids are still young, and I’m afraid it might harm their health.”

Li Weimin was quite troubled. However, since they care about their children, he really couldn’t say much more.

”Alright, I’ll follow your arrangement.”

”You’ll be the third family during next spring planting.”

”That’s better than being the fourth this year.”

”Bit by bit, things will get better.”

”Yeah, don’t worry about leaving the kids here, I’ll take good care of them.”

It’s already past five o’clock, and the two of them drove back home.

When they got home, it was already dark. ”Xiao Wei, just hand the money to Teacher Jiang, and we’ll post it in the account tomorrow during the day.”

”Sure.”

Wei Kaiyun returned home just in time for the food to be served. Sister-in-law Liu also brought the meal she saved for him.

The family dinner was just porridge; they were already used to it.

Even Wei Kaiyun had come to like this eating habit.

After eating, Wei Kaiyun gave Jiang Xinyu two thousand four hundred yuan before going to take a bath. Having been outside all day, he was covered in dust, and after repairing the tractor, his hands were so greasy that he needed a lot of lye and his wife’s soap to get them clean.

The next day, Li Yungui and his brother both came over.

”Xiao Wei, aren’t you going to the city with me?”

Wei Kaiyun looked at this village chief’s troubled expression and nodded with a smile, ”Alright, let’s go together.”

They rode their bikes to the town, then took the bus to the city.

Jiang Xinyu went to the brigade office with Li Yunqiang. This year, Dazhao’s accountant Li Yunqiang was responsible for explaining the accounts.

Jiang Xinyu organized it for him through a double-entry ledger system, making everything clear at a glance.

Finally, it was calculated that one work point equaled two fen, as a lot of money had been spent on buying tractors and investing in the pesticide factory.

However, when winter comes and they sell the cabbage, they can still make quite a bit of money, so this year everyone has quite a bit of money in their hands.

Li Yunqiang truly admired Jiang Xinyu. ”Teacher Jiang, why don’t you be the accountant and pay according to the work points?”

”And you’ll be in charge of the cash management?”

”Me? I can’t do it. You can just manage it all as you used to.”

Jiang Xinyu shook her head, ”How can the accountant and treasurer be the same person? That’s not okay.”

”But I really can’t manage this bookkeeping. In the future, there will be the pesticide factory, corn shellers, and tractor rental accounts, and I really can’t handle it all.”

”It’s fine. You’ll be the chief accountant. This year, I’ll train a few accountants for you, and by then they can report to you every month, as long as you have the overall total.”

”Really?”

”Of course. I’ll take a look this year, and teach a few steady ones, and then you can choose them.”

”That would be great. Teacher Jiang, it won’t trouble two masters to handle one thing. Could you also help calculate these work points?”

”Sure, that’s easy.”

Li Yunqiang watched as she didn’t even glance at the abacus, her fingers flew rapidly, and the numbers quickly came out.

By noon, they were halfway through the calculations.

”Accountant Li, two fen per work point is not enough.”

”Why?” Li Yunqiang was startled.

”Didn’t you look at the labor records? Almost everyone hit full work points, and among our adult laborers, regardless of gender, there are 380 people and over 60 kids. Calculated like this, it comes down to approximately one fen per work point.”

”One fen per work point?”

”Yes.”

”Why is it less than last year?”

”Because two tractors, four rotary tillers, and six seeders were all accounted for this year.

Plus, the building materials for the pesticide factory are also included. If these weren’t counted, then a work point would be over twenty fen.”

”I see!”

”Most of our major profits are from food. We still have over fifty-six thousand catties of sorghum and over sixty thousand catties of corn remaining.”

”Calculated this way, everyone could receive a few hundred yuan this year?”

”Yes.”

”That’s more like it. Teacher Jiang, let’s not calculate the work points for now. Let’s discuss how to sell the corn and sorghum since everyone can’t consume it all. Can we trouble you again then?”

”Sure. Then when I wrap up the work points this afternoon, that’s all set?”

”Right. Let’s start the new work assignments from today.”

In the afternoon, Jiang Xinyu took two hours to calculate all the work points and tallied them up.

This year, she must teach a few people so she won’t have to come herself.

Meanwhile, Wei Kaiyun and Li Yungui reached the city around noon.

Li Yunqiao wasn’t there; he was said to have gone to the province and had been gone for several days, with no return time yet known. Li Yungui was very disappointed.

”Village Chief Li, Vice Mayor Li must be handling this matter. Since he personally went to the province, there’s a good chance. Stay calm.”

”I suppose that’s true.”

”It’s still early. Let’s eat, and I need to buy some items for the house.”

”Alright, let’s go eat.”

The two went to the restaurant and happened to meet Liang Caifeng, who was eating with a male colleague.

Both parties felt a bit awkward. Liang Caifeng was almost done eating, so by the time Wei Kaiyun and Li Yungui sat down to eat, they were already leaving.

Li Yungui wondered if this woman was getting remarried?

Getting remarried is not surprising. Living alone as a woman is not easy.

His big brother probably wouldn’t care about this matter.

They ate mantou made from three-mix flour and a bowl of cabbage soup each.

After that, they went to the department store. Wei Kaiyun bought two packs of toilet paper, filled a burlap sack, white sugar, brown sugar, and got a few comic books for the three kids.

They then visited the supply and marketing cooperative where Wei Kaiyun bought several pounds of eggs, candles, and salt.

Li Yungui bought salt and sugar, and also a few candles.

They took the bus back to the town and visited Xing Xiangzhang for a while. Then they finally headed home.

Jiang Xinyu was surprised to see Wei Kaiyun bring back so many things, ”You still had time to shop?”

”Vice Mayor Li went to the province.”

”I thought so. Village Chief Li must have been particularly disheartened.”

”Yeah, he didn’t say a word the whole way back.”

Jiang Xinyu chuckled.

”Wifey, I’m going to check on Master Lu and the others.”

”Go ahead. I’ll go pick a few carrots, and tonight we’ll have seafood carrot porridge.”

When Wei Kaiyun arrived at the pesticide factory, it was bustling with activity. He saw that there were already four corn shellers on the ground.

”Brother Wei.”

”Brother Wei.”

”Hehe, everyone’s busy, today’s output looks good.”

”Yes, today we can make six units.”

”Great, the more you make, the more it’ll line your pockets.”

Everyone was naturally pleased; most of them weren’t valued by their families, so they would still need to rely on themselves when starting their own families in the future.
