Rebirth in Famine: She Thrives by Lucky Space

Chapter 792: 792 collect money

Wang Shulin was also planting wheat in the fields in the afternoon, when the village children came to call him, saying someone was looking for him.

Wang Shulin thought of Li Yungui. It’s time to pay again, nearly an installment for a tractor, it makes his heart ache just thinking about it, but there’s no way, the one he ordered still hasn’t arrived.

Wang Shulin called Accountant Wang Jiancheng, and together they went to the brigade headquarters.

”Brother, thinking about giving them so much money, it’s suffocating. It’s painful. Another tractor gone.”

Wang Shulin sighed, ”Yes, but there’s no way. Our tractor hasn’t arrived yet. Once we ask Li Yungui, let’s see if his connections can help us, and quickly sell us a tractor.”

”I just fear that Li Yungui won’t say anything. Once we have a tractor, we won’t need theirs as much. Even if we do, not as many, why should they tell us?”

”It’s worth a try, but we can’t afford to offend Li Yungui now. They’ve got good things in their hands. I heard from Old Yang that it’s a corn shaker, no need to rub the corn kernels by hand, there’s a machine for it.”

”What kind of stroke of luck did Li Yungui have?”

”Sigh, remember when Old Yang said to let the guy named Wei come to our village? If only I had agreed. I was blinded by lard at the time, preferring to want more educated youth, now? Turns out they’re really capable, while these young people just keep causing trouble.”

”Brother, this was something everyone in our village agreed on, you don’t have to bear it all on yourself. It’s just our fate.”

The two arrived at the brigade headquarters, and saw Li Yungui had brought someone with him. This was the capable person they were talking about, surnamed Wei.

Li Yungui brought Wei Kaiyun, worried that with so much money, he would be at risk, so he called Wei Kaiyun to come along.

The two drove over this time, and Wei Kaiyun also brought some carrots to Old Yang and his crew.

”Old Li, are you worried that we won’t pay? Is that why you’re running over here to ask for it?”

”I indeed am not at ease with you old thing not paying up.” Li Yungui said with a smile.

Wei Kaiyun also greeted Wang Shulin.

”Xiao Wei is indeed a capable person. Whatever great stuff you make, make sure you let us try it.”

”Sure, Old Yang and a few kids live here, if there’s good stuff, we’ll definitely think of Village Chief Wang.” Wei Kaiyun made his meaning clear.

Wang Shulin understood, implying he should look after the Lu Family siblings.

”Definitely, the two Lu Family kids are sensible, they didn’t slack off or ask for leave during the autumn harvest; those lads are really capable.”

”They’re still young, if they act out of line, Village Chief Wang, please bear with them.”

”It’s only right, it’s only right.”

The four talked as they entered the office.

Jin Family Village had seven hundred acres of wheat this year, which is 4200 Yuan, without much dispute.

Wang Jiancheng went to get the money, feeling his hands trembling; so much money was just handed over.

Li Yungui was also smart, ”I just went to the fields and told my kids to work until dark, the remaining few acres, we’ll plant them for free for you, without charging.”

Wang Shulin sighed, ”Old Li, you’re straightforward in handling things. This way villagers’ mouths can be shut. Although they benefit, when it comes to them paying, there’s all sorts of gossip.”

”I understand.” Li Yungui also knew that in such a big village, it had all kinds of people, naturally, there would be various comments.

”Old Li, thank you, I remember your kindness.”

”We both stand here, knowing each other’s difficulties. It’s getting dark, I’ll leave now, still have work to do at Zhengjiazhuang.”

”Alright, I’ll tell my family to make dinner, making sure the kids leave with their stomachs full.”

”Okay, kids are small, they get hungry quickly.” In fact, Li Yungui had already brought them pancakes, but worried the kids might get hungry again by nightfall, it’s better to let them eat till they’re full. It’s cold now, cold pancakes don’t taste good.

Wang Jiancheng came in with a snake-skin bag. Placed it on the table, initially not letting go, until Wang Shulin coughed, then reluctantly opened the bag’s mouth.

”Village Chief Li, you count, here’s 4200 Yuan.”

”I can’t count it, that’s why I called the expert here.” Li Yungui said jokingly.

Wei Kaiyun poured the money onto the table, amused to see the village accountant turning his head away.

He took half an hour to finish counting the money, ”The amount is correct.”

Li Yungui stood up, ”Old Wang, I won’t tarry, with so much money, we both need to hurry back.

Make sure to send my nephews out of the village; if anyone with bad intentions dares bully my kids, I won’t let it go.”

”Rest assured, I will send them off.”

”Alright, with your word, I’m at ease.”

The two of them drove off, Wei Kaiyun sat in the cart with the money bag under his legs, while Li Yungui drove.

All the way, the two chatted and laughed, but Li Yungui was extremely nervous.

Fortunately, Xiao Wei suggested seeing Chaoyang and the other two first, otherwise, he definitely wouldn’t dare to wander outside with so much money.

”No need to be nervous, robbery now will lead to a bullet.”

”I’m still nervous, Xiao Wei, Yun Qiang said this money should also be kept by Teacher Jiang.”

”Have them fill out the paperwork.”

Throughout the journey, there were no surprises as they returned to the village, Wei Kaiyun watched Li Yungui’s tense back relax, finally settling down mentally.

”Xiao Wei, take the money home. Yun Qiang and I will be over shortly.”

”Alright.” Wei Kaiyun had no objections. He put the money bag on the table in the main room, went inside to see his son.

”This boy is getting more stubborn now, eating with one hand and guarding with the other.”

”Wife, the Li Family Brothers will come over later.”

”So I’ll keep the money safe?”

”Mm.”

”Now I’m the village’s cash keeper.”

”Make them give you work points.”

”How long until you leave?”

”A month, when I’ll head to the South’s rubber factory to order rubber gloves for greater safety.”

”You should, earning money shouldn’t come at the cost of one’s health. Will you be back for the New Year?”

”Yes, two months is good enough to return.”

”Hmm, will Jianbin’s father come too this year?”

”Yes, he promised the child, so he will definitely come.”

”I didn’t expect you three to care so much about the kids.”

”They’re our flesh and blood. But I care most about my wife.”

Jiang Xinyu knew this, last time when she and Feifei hunted wild boar, the first reaction of Wei Kaiyun was to hold her tight.

Saying it’s not touching would be a lie, his usual care for Feifei is obvious to many, but when things come up, he still puts her first.

That’s why she’s content, to have a man who loves her, a few kids she bore, how can life not be happy and satisfying?
