Rebirth in Famine: She Thrives by Lucky Space

Chapter 767: 767 go up the mountain

The three wild boars were all dead, and Jiang Xinyu was so exhausted her arms couldn’t lift.

”Feifei, isn’t the smell of blood here too strong? Will it be dangerous? Why haven’t your dad and the others come back yet?”

The mother and daughter were very scared staying here. When Jiang Xinyu recovered, she immediately went to chop some trees. Such large wild boars could only be dragged back as they did yesterday.

So the wooden raft still needed to be made, and Jiang Xinyu chopped down many trees. Then the mother and daughter began making the raft.

Wei Kaiyun and the others were pulling two dead trees back, and of course, there were some peppercorns and wood ear mushrooms in the baskets they carried.

”Master Shang, why is there such a strong smell of blood again?”

Shang Zhenkun was also startled. The four hurriedly quickened their pace. When they arrived near the persimmon tree, Wei Kaiyun was scared so much his legs went soft.

He ran over to see that his wife and daughter were fine, and then collapsed to the ground.

Shang Zhenkun also came over with the two children.

”Did you two handle these three wild boars?”

”Yes, Master Shang, I have some knockout drugs here. I smeared them on the peaches, and once the wild boars ate them, they fell down.”

Wei Kaiyun was too scared to speak now, and hearing his daughter’s words made his heart even heavier.

”When we arrived, they were eating persimmons. We couldn’t advance or retreat. Fortunately, Feifei understood pharmacology and made knockout drugs.”

Jiang Xinyu still felt aggrieved and scared.

Wei Kaiyun hugged his wife tightly, and she felt the meat on Wei Kaiyun’s arms shaking.

”It’s alright, we weren’t in any danger. But what about these three wild boars? After chopping, I realized the smell of blood was too strong. But look, I’ve already made the raft. We should hurry down the mountain.”

Wei Kaiyun stood up, and together with Shang Zhenkun, they reinforced the raft again, and then placed the three wild boars on it.

Going down the mountain wasn’t easy. But everyone was anxious, so they moved faster.

”Xiao Wei, are we giving the wild boars to the team?”

”No, let’s find a way to bring them home ourselves. I can butcher pigs, let’s butcher them ourselves and store everything.”

Since Wei Kaiyun decided, of course, no one had any objections.

But by this time, everyone should be working, just afraid of any special situations happening.

Trepidaciously, they arrived at the foot of the mountain. They were quite lucky; no children came to dig for mountain vegetables today.

Today, the team was picking peanuts, something even children could help with, and could earn work points, so all were mobilized by their families to pick peanuts.

They covered the wild boars with some branches; now that the blood had drained, no need to worry about discovery.

Only upon reaching home could everyone finally let down their guard.

Sister-in-law Liu was startled by the three big wild boars; even the smallest was over two hundred pounds, not to mention the two larger ones? Each weighs four to five hundred pounds.

”Sister-in-law Liu, go boil water in the big pots so the guys can wash up. They still haven’t eaten.”

”Alright, I’ll go right away.”

After filling their bellies, only then did Wei Kaiyun and Shang Zhenkun start butchering the pigs. The wild boar skin was too tough, so Wei Kaiyun directly skinned them; otherwise, they wouldn’t stew tender.

The two boys were curious and helped with small tasks throughout the process, while Feifei disliked such bloody scenes and stayed indoors with her mom, attending to the two little ones.

These three pigs took Wei Kaiyun an entire afternoon to skin, remove the entrails, and separate the bones and meat.

Jiang Xinyu and Sister-in-law Liu were already washing out the three pig intestines, with so much meat. Should they make sausages? This way, it stores well and tastes good.

Because the wild boars survive in the wild, they don’t have much fat, but with three big ones, there was still a hundred pounds of lard.

Wild boar meat has a slightly strong gamey taste, so to make sausages, Jiang Xinyu cut the meat into fist-sized chunks, directly soaking them in a basin of water.

Wei Kaiyun wasn’t idle; he cut the meat into strips, preparing to rub them with salt and then smoke them.

Actually, Jiang Xinyu suggested using one pig to earn work points, but Wei Kaiyun felt the wild boars were acquired by his wife and daughter risking so much, so no way were they giving any away, except for sending Old Yang dozens of pounds.

Because the Wei Family lives far from the village, and their home always emits the aroma of meat, even if others smelled the meat, they’d say nothing.

But there’s always jealousy, people making snide remarks, but it’s just talk, no one discusses it seriously.

Smoke wafted in the courtyard, with strips of pork hanging above.

Two hundred pounds being used for sausages, fifty pounds of fresh meat were sent to Old Yang. As for smoked meat, next time Old Yang comes over, he’ll take it back himself.

Just the entrails filled two big basins, which Jiang Xinyu and Sister-in-law Liu stewed in two pots; this can be preserved and eaten slowly. The weather now allows it to keep for a few days.

The rich aroma of meat delighted the three children; the first to be ready were the pig liver and lungs.

Jiang Xinyu cut a plate and let the children eat first.

She also mixed them the sesame oil, which tasted better the more they ate.

Come evening, the three children didn’t feel like having dinner.

Wei Kaiyun carried a plate of cooked pig lung, and under the cover of night, went to Li Yungui’s house.

”Xiao Wei, sit down and have a bite.”

”No need, we’ve eaten already. Bringing Village Chief Li some food, Sister, please empty the plate for me quickly.”

Wei Kaiyun uncovered the plate, and the rich aroma of meat wafted out.

”Xiao Wei, what is this?”

”Just keep it for your family to eat, I’ve got to go back.”

After Wei Kaiyun left, Li Yungui told Qu Xiaoli to cut some for the children to satisfy their cravings.

”Honey, this pig lung?”

”Just eat it.”

”Okay.” Actually, both Li Yungui and his wife could see it was wild boar lung, but since he didn’t mention it, they wouldn’t either.

After dinner, Wei Kaiyun packed fifty pounds of meat in a bag, placed it on the bicycle’s rear rack, along with a big chunk of stewed liver and a pig heart, a pig lung packed in a cloth bag, and rode to Old Yang’s house.

Jin Family Village was planting wheat, and of course, villagers were harvesting autumn crops.

When Wei Kaiyun arrived at Old Yang’s house, ”What’s that smell?” Old Yang asked.

”Stewed pig heart, pig lung, pig liver, along with raw meat at the back, quickly deal with it, I’ve got to go back.

Oh, and there’s smoked meat, still smoking. You can take it when you come over later.”

”Wild boars?”

”Yes, three of them, over six hundred pounds of net meat.”

”Haha, you’re really capable.”

”Not me. It was Feifei with knockout drugs, Xinyu killed them.”

”Oh my, these two are quite bold.”

”Isn’t that right? Nearly scared me to death. Alright, I need to go back; there’s still sausages being made, when done, you can get them yourself.”

”That sounds great, Xiao Jiang makes the tastiest meat.”
