Rebirth in Famine: She Thrives by Lucky Space

Chapter 785: 785 throws the hot potato

Li Yunqiang was always troubled. He felt no place was safe for money.

”Second brother, let’s give the money to Xiao Wei for safekeeping, and I’ll be responsible for the bookkeeping. As long as the accounts match the money Xiao Wei has, it should be fine, right?”

Li Yungui slapped his thigh. ”Right, that’s it. Handing it to Xiao Wei is safer. I’m so scared of this much money now that I can’t think straight.”

Wei Kai shook his head. ”I can’t do it. I’ll be out a lot in the future and won’t be able to take care of the money. My wife used to be the finance supervisor at a textile factory; you can discuss it with her. Actually, I think my wife managing the books is the best, while you guys handle the money.”

”I’ll handle the books. I’ll handle the books. If you give me the money, I won’t be able to sleep.”

”Second brother, let’s go directly to Teacher Jiang. I’m trembling holding this money. This is borrowed money.”

”Alright, the two of us should go directly to Teacher Jiang. Xiao Wei, we’re heading to your place.”

”Alright.”

Regarding ten thousand yuan, Wei Kaiyun really didn’t feel anything special. Previously, when he collected payments alone, one time he had over thirty thousand yuan, and he traveled back alone by train.

But he could understand the two brothers; seeing so much money at once naturally made them uneasy.

Wei Kaiyun drove straight home. Jianbin heard the noise, looked out the door, and immediately opened the big gate. The car drove directly into the yard.

Finally, the Li Family Brothers got out of the car, each holding a fabric bag from the bank as they entered the house.

”Feifei, go call your mom out; we have something to discuss with her.”

Jiang Xinyu was feeding the child when Sister-in-law Liu came out to inform them, ”Please wait a moment, Xiao Jiang will come out shortly.”

Wei Kaiyun called out to Sister-in-law Liu from outside to prepare dinner once she was free. The three of them hadn’t eaten yet.

The two sat in Wei Family’s main room and felt much more relieved.

Wei Kaiyun and the three kids unloaded the car, putting the canning jars outside, needing a wash first.

Sister-in-law Liu made fried rice with eggs, cut a plate of sausage, and fried some cabbage.

When the meal was ready, Jiang Xinyu also came out, and Wei Kaiyun’s car was unloaded.

”Teacher Jiang, here’s the ten thousand yuan borrowed from the bank, entrusted to your safekeeping.”

Jiang Xinyu paused, ”Village Chief Li, I won’t refuse, but I think I’m best at handling the accounts.”

”No, no, Teacher Jiang, you should handle the money. My arms are still trembling now; I’m scared, never seen this much money.”

Jiang Xinyu laughed, ”Alright, I’ll handle the money, but for any spending, I must see you both sign off. If one person is missing, I won’t release the money.”

”Okay, okay.” The two put down the bags. ”Teacher Jiang, you count it. Today we spent three hundred and fifty yuan, leaving nine thousand six hundred and fifty yuan.”

”Alright, let me count.”

The two watched Jiang Xinyu count the money, their eyes focused.

After a quarter of an hour, Jiang Xinyu finished counting all the money. ”The amount is correct. In the future, if you want to spend it, just bring the slip to me.”

”Okay, now I can rest assured.”

Wei Kaiyun finished washing up and called them both in for dinner.

The three were hungry, and they ate all of Sister-in-law Liu’s prepared meal.

Life at Xiao Wei’s house is indeed good. Li Yungui’s worries dissipated, and now they just needed the materials. Everything was ready.

Li Yungui felt increasingly optimistic. The days truly hold hope, even if it’s tiring, it’s worth it.

After dinner, the Li Family Brothers left, and Wei Kaiyun helped his wife wash the canning jars. The three children also assisted.

Jiang Xinyu returned to the room, packed the money from the two fabric bags into a box, and stored it away.

Sister-in-law Liu and Monk Master went to the field to pick peppers, returning with a large basket.

Jiang Xinyu instructed Sister-in-law Liu to wash the peppers and leave them outside to dry, so they could make chili sauce tomorrow, but today they needed to make sweet sauce first.

In the past, you could buy it ready-made, but now there are no acquaintances here, so buying a large quantity of sweet sauce isn’t realistic.

She took out flour and mixed it with cold water, then secretly added chicken essence and soy sauce.

Then she lit the stove, added some oil to the pan, poured the flour mixture into the pan, and added soy sauce and sugar, stirring constantly.

Once it became thick, she scooped it out.

Shi Jing ran in, ”Mom, what are you making?”

”Sweet sauce.”

”Smells delicious.”

”Does it? I’ll make more.”

Jiang Xinyu tasted it earlier; it tasted better than the store-bought ones, likely because she added chicken essence and soy sauce.

This pot of sweet sauce isn’t enough; at least three more are needed.

So Jiang Xinyu spent an hour making five pots of sweet sauce. That evening, the family had cold noodles with sweet sauce, which turned out to be really tasty.

After dinner, Wei Kaiyun said, ”Wife, how should I help? Give me all the heavy work.”

”Then you chop the garlic and peppers; these are the tough jobs.”

”It’s no problem.”

”Xiao Jiang, I’ll mash the garlic.” Lu Tiezhu volunteered.

”Master Lu, the garlic for the minced garlic and chili sauce can’t be mashed; it must be chopped into fine pieces.”

”Then I’ll chop.”

The two men chopped in the yard.

Seeing this, Jiang Xinyu decided to make the sauce tonight.

They worked busily until past ten o’clock, making fifty jars of chili sauce.

Wei Kaiyun stored them in the cellar, leaving two large bowls outside to share with the brothers tomorrow and for their own family meal. The kids specifically requested pancakes tomorrow.

Twelve young men shared a meal and finished a big bowl of chili sauce. In the end, they asked Shuanzi to find Jiang Xinyu.

”Sister-in-law Wei, could you make some chili sauce for us? We don’t have canning jars, but we can buy a small vat and make it saltier for us.”

”Sure, but don’t worry; take two bottles back for now. Peeling garlic is very laborious, and there aren’t many peppers left. I’ll have to ask your Brother Wei to buy some outside.”

”Sister-in-law Wei, leave it to us. We’ll buy ten pounds of peppers, alright?”

”Alright, I’ll prepare the garlic; just get the peppers and a small vat.”

These twelve guys did quite a lot of heavy labor for themselves, helping unload coal at night was already tiring, so naturally, wanting the chili sauce was no problem.

Eleven of them borrowed a small cart from the brigade to go to the township to buy a small vat and bring back ten pounds of peppers.

”Sister-in-law Wei, I’ll chop these peppers; I heard from Master Lu this chopping is tough work.”

”Alright, but we’ll do it the day after tomorrow; the garlic hasn’t been peeled yet.”

”Give it to me; we can peel it in one night.”

”You’re already quite tired; I’ll peel them.”

”It’s okay; it’s fine. We can manage.” Shuanzi took a large bundle of garlic back.
