Rebirth in Famine: She Thrives by Lucky Space

Chapter 764: 764 go up the mountain

Jiang Feifei shook her head, ”I haven’t discovered anything.”

”Do you think it’s possible that it’s lightning strike?”

”It could be. It does show signs of a lightning strike, but why only these few trees? And why are they clustered together?”

The mother and daughter circled around again, still not finding anything unusual. So Jiang Xinyu decisively took out the wood axe.

”Since there’s nothing to be found, let’s cut down the trees.”

Jiang Feifei felt the same way; these trees had been dead for years and for some reason, no one had cut them down, making the trunks less hard.

So by the time Wei Kaiyun arrived, the mother and daughter had already chopped down two trees.

”Not bad, you two take a break, I’ll handle the rest.”

”Why don’t you transport them down first? We mother and daughter can continue to cut slowly?”

”No, it’s too dangerous.”

”What’s dangerous? In all this time, we haven’t even seen a single rabbit. Go ahead, it’s a heavy task for you.”

Wei Kaiyun thought his wife was right, so he used the axe to chop off the branches, found some ropes and tied up the branches.

Then he tied up the two trees with ropes as well, carrying the branches on his back, dragging the trunks forward.

Before leaving, he reminded them not to get exhausted and not to leave this area.

Wei Kaiyun was very worried. Just leaving them here made him uneasy.

So he sped all the way. Even so, it took over an hour to get down the mountain.

He placed them at the foot of the mountain, untied the ropes, and planned to go back up.

”Master Wei?”

A few kids around ten years old came over.

”Just you kids? No adults?”

”We’re here to dig mountain vegetables.”

”Make sure you don’t wander too far. Stay safe.”

”Yes, Master Wei, we’ll go back to call people to help you bring it back?”

”Okay, just go to my house. Tell my family to bring baskets and snakeskin bags; we’ve also dug a lot of mountain vegetables.”

After Wei Kaiyun finished talking, he left.

The kids discussed it and let the fastest boy run back to report.

They continued to dig mountain vegetables nearby.

Shang Zhenkun listened to the kids and watched two boys getting excited, smiling.

”Prepare your baskets, let’s go help.”

The two boys were thrilled. They quickly got their stuff ready.

Master Shang also shouldered a basket, with a rope inside, carrying an axe, and took more than ten snakeskin bags. He set off with the two boys.

At the foot of the mountain, he saw two dead trees and branches.

The kids ran over, ”Shi Jing, your dad said to bring them back.”

”Okay, thanks, Dapeng.”

The kids waved cheerfully. They had to hurry to dig vegetables, clean them at home, and dry them for winter consumption.

Shang Zhenkun grabbed the trunk, and the two boys carried the branches home.

When they returned to the mountain foot, Wei Kaiyun was not there.

”Let’s go up the mountain to follow the trace and find them.”

Now let’s talk about Jiang Xinyu and Jiang Feifei. After Wei Kaiyun left, the mother and daughter took a break.

”Mom, should we go inside and take a look?”

Jiang Xinyu thought about it. The mother and daughter had no combat power. If there was any danger, they wouldn’t be able to escape.

”Feifei, no, we don’t have the ability to fight. Let’s just stay put.”

”Mom, if there’s danger, I can take you inside. Don’t worry, we’ll hold hands. There absolutely won’t be danger.”

”Okay, but we mustn’t go too far.”

The mother and daughter held hands and cautiously walked inward.

With a lot of dead branches and fallen leaves, when stepped on, it felt soft. ”Mom, look, mushrooms?”

”It’s true, let’s go pick them up.”

After gathering almost half a basket, the mother and daughter continued forward. They heard the sound of wings flapping.

”Mom, are there wild chickens?”

”Hmm, let’s go see. If we can catch them, great. If not, we’ll go back.”

When the mother and daughter went in the direction of the sound, they found nothing. Fortunately, they saw a chestnut tree.

The mother and daughter didn’t think about the wild chickens anymore; Jiang Xinyu chopped down a nice small tree and began to knock down chestnuts. Jiang Feifei used a knife to crack open the prickly outer shells and put the chestnuts into the basket.

The mother and daughter cooperated very happily, forgetting to go back to find Wei Kaiyun.

When Wei Kaiyun reached the dead tree, he didn’t see the mother and daughter, breaking out in a cold sweat.

He forced himself to stay calm. He quieted himself and listened for any noises nearby.

He carried a basket, anxiously going inward. After about ten minutes, he heard the sound of knocking.

Following the sound, he saw the mother and daughter knocking down chestnuts.

Jiang Xinyu saw Wei Kaiyun, noticed his stern face, and realized she had lost track of time.

”Wei Kaiyun, you came at the right time. Hurry up, the task is yours now, I’m picking them up.”

Jiang Feifei also eagerly joined, ”Dad, look, I found this chestnut tree.”

Seeing their pleasing faces, Wei Kaiyun didn’t know what to do, ”No next time. Otherwise, you two won’t come up the mountain anymore.”

The mother and daughter eagerly nodded, promising to be good next time.

Wei Kaiyun took over and started knocking down chestnuts; the mother and daughter divided the work. Jiang Xinyu cracked open the outer shells; Jiang Feifei picked them up and put them into the basket.

This was an old tree; the three of them filled three baskets, and there were still more than half left on the tree.

”No problem, let’s continue. Master Shang should be up here soon. I asked them to bring snakeskin bags.”

Upon hearing this, the mother and daughter became excited and worked even harder.

The mother and daughter talked about how to cook the chestnuts, surprised to find they had so many.

Seeing the mother and daughter so happy, Wei Kaiyun thought that their family would have more chances to come up for a visit in the future.

When Shang Zhenkun came with two boys, there was already a large heap on the ground.

”Dad, Mom, Sister.”

”Haha, you’ve all come? Quickly, come help. I’ll make something delicious for you when we get home.”

The kids loved being needed by adults, and they hurried to squat down and help.

However, Shang Zhenkun asked Jianbin to help open the bags while he packed all the chestnuts on the ground.

The six of them focused on dealing with the chestnut tree, forgetting about cutting tree branches.

Shang Zhenkun brought ten snake-skin bags, and they also filled six baskets.

It was late, but how to transport them down?

Finally, Wei Kaiyun and Shang Zhenkun cut down many small trees about the size of a baby’s arm, tied them together, making a raft, placed the ten snake-skin bags on it. Three adults pulled in the front.

Jiang Feifei thought to herself, having treasures but unable to use them, all she needed was to wave her hands.

”Dad, let’s come again tomorrow,” Shi Jing said excitedly, believing they’d surely take them along tomorrow.
