Rebirth in Famine: She Thrives by Lucky Space

Chapter 750: 750 resolution

Li Laoshu sat there motionless. Yu Guiying sneered.

”Father-in-law, we’ve come to get some food.”

Li Laoshu glanced at his eldest son, who just kept his head down.

It’s all my fault, how did I raise him to be like this?

Just as Yu Yinghong was about to speak for the third time, Li Laoshu stood up, ”You guys first go to the brigade office to borrow a scale.”

In the end, the couple divided twenty pounds of cornmeal, another twenty pounds of sorghum rice, and twenty pounds of sweet potato flour.

No vegetables, no oil, but they were given a hanging pot, and some bowls and chopsticks.

With this, the couple was already quite satisfied. They carried the food home.

Fortunately, there was a well in the yard, but they didn’t have a water bucket. They still went to Li Yungui’s place to borrow a bucket, so the couple could finally eat.

After eating, they first went to Li Yungui’s house to return the ten yuan and five pounds of food tickets.

Qu Xiaoli gave them two large sea bowls, two plates, and some pickled vegetables.

As Yu Guiying walked, she shed tears. Li Changjiang felt bad too; only at times like these do you see people’s true nature.

The couple then went to the Wei Family.

By this time, the whole family had already gotten up from their nap.

Wei Kaiyun saw the couple enter and immediately invited them to sit in the main room.

Jiang Xinyu also came over carrying Daya.

”Both of you, I’m sorry, because the kids had lice on their heads, so I just went ahead and shaved them bald.”

The couple suddenly knelt down, ”Teacher Jiang, you are a great benefactor to our family, we are sure to repay you like a beast of burden.”

Wei Kaiyun hurriedly helped Li Changjiang up, but Yu Guiying was more difficult to handle.

”Get up quickly. Look at your daughter now, she is much more spirited.”

Yu Guiying wiped her tears, stood up, and took her daughter, the little girl was still a bit reluctant to leave Jiang Xinyu.

Yu Guiying felt even more sad, but seeing her daughter looking much more lively,

She truly felt grateful to Jiang Xinyu from the bottom of her heart.

”Teacher Jiang, we don’t even know how to thank you.”

”It’s nothing, maybe I just have a fate with Ga Zi and this little girl.

By the way, since you’ve separated households, if you’re missing something, I have an iron pot here that we’ve replaced. If you don’t mind, take it back and use it.”

”We don’t mind, we don’t mind, thank you, Teacher Jiang.” Everyone knows how hard it is to buy an iron pot. Even if it’s broken, you can still have it mended by a master and use it just the same.

Li Changjiang took out three pounds of food tickets from his pocket and thirty yuan and placed them on the table.

”Master Wei, Teacher Jiang, this is us repaying the money, it’s just that I don’t have enough food tickets, we’ve used them up, after autumn when we divide the grain, I’ll make up with fine grains.”

”Alright, no rush, come back for it when you need it to build the house,” Wei Kaiyun said with a smile.

They found the couple a big iron pot, gave them a bag of milk powder and ten eggs, which were for the little girl.

After seeing off the family of four from the Li Family, Jiang Xinyu sighed, ”Being uneducated is truly scary.”

”Yeah, but the couple have good character, life will slowly get better.”

”Indeed. That little girl is quite well-behaved.”

”Haha. Wife, we now have five kids in our house.”

”Yes, but it doesn’t stop me from liking other people’s kids. Is everyone like you? Only liking their own children?”

”Wife, don’t you know I’m an indifferent person? Only you four and Old Yang have a place in my heart, everyone else is the same to me.”

”You...”

Jiang Xinyu knew Wei Kaiyun’s personality was like this. There was no way to force him.

”Wife, I’m off to work.”

”Okay, don’t tire yourself out.”

”I’m not doing the work, just supervising.”

”That works.”

With the two little ones asleep, she just sat in the main room reading a book.

Wei Kaiyun arrived at the factory site, already some people were there.

Li Yunqiang ran over, ”Xiao Wei, within three days, we must finish digging the foundation.”

”We must hurry, it’s almost time to pick the corn.”

”I think it can be done within a week.

Xiao Wei, this seeder is really useful, I specially went to see the wheat seedlings in the fields, they’re sprouting very neatly. It looks comforting.”

”It saves everyone a lot of labor.”

”Right? This saves so much effort?”

At this time, all the people digging the foundation came over. Everyone was extra motivated, working without needing any oversight.

Li Yungui also came over, ”Xiao Wei, Shitou will start delivering from tomorrow.”

”Get more. Make the foundation stable.”

”I know, I’ve asked for three thousand bricks. If it’s not enough, I’ll add more.”

”Alright, if we can’t, let’s get more people over, after all, many hands make light work.”

”Alright, in the afternoon, I’ll arrange for ten more good laborers to come over.”

”Okay, fine, during the rush for the autumn harvest, let’s get the foundation laid.

I’ll go see Old Yang in these two days to see if we can buy some blue bricks, if so, we won’t need adobe, which is sturdier.”

”Blue bricks are too expensive.”

”There’s a benefit to expense, we’ll grit our teeth and get through it.”

Li Yungui sucked his teeth. Money talks.

”Alright, I’ll go arrange the people, and I’ll urge Shitou again to start delivering by tomorrow.”

”Ok, if not, we’ll use a tractor to haul them. My intention is to have it ready before the autumn harvest.”

Li Yungui nodded, he was anxious too. It’s too cold in the winter, and farmers start plowing in the spring, there’s no time then.

Li Yungui went to make arrangements, Wei Kaiyun saw everyone’s enthusiasm, adhering strictly to the lines.

An hour later, ten more young strong men came over, significantly speeding up the work.

Li Yungui went to urge Shitou again, who promised to deliver three truckloads at night.

Everything proceeded in an orderly fashion.

Captain Li Cunshan arranged for the village elders to weigh the site, all the stripped corn had to be put on the threshing floor. Women had started cutting sorghum.

Chaoyang and Xiang Dong drove tractors back, which was much easier than previous years, the older women only had to scrape sorghum, while the children carried the sorghum seedlings, which could be made into brooms and stovetop brushes, and sold to the supply and marketing cooperative.

Anyway, there were no idle people in the village now, everyone was doing what they could.

The old lady sat on the ground scraping sorghum and chatting away.

”This is much easier than previous years, otherwise we wouldn’t have the manpower to dig the foundation this year.”

”That’s right, I think our days will get better and better, in the future, farming will surely be less tiring.”

”Absolutely, now for plowing and planting people aren’t needed, and the best thing is no need to weed now, I remember last year during midsummer my family got heatstroke from weeding, but this year is better, we only start work after three in the afternoon, and there’s not much grass in the fields, work feels easy.”

The old ladies were happy, feeling life was getting more hopeful.
