Rebirth in Famine: She Thrives by Lucky Space

Chapter 729: 729 discussion

Wei Kaiyun prepared milk powder for his wife and the four kids, then joined them on the bed. He lay down beside his second son.

Looking at his second son sleeping like a little pig, he mischievously poked his arm.

”Wei Kaiyun, if you wake Shi Xian, you’ll have to soothe him yourself.” This child has quite a temper; if someone wakes him up, he won’t give up without crying for half an hour.

Wei Kaiyun reluctantly withdrew his hand, not daring to disturb his second son anymore, and lay beside him, watching intently.

”Mom, everyone in the village went to watch the commotion, even carrying their bowl of food while watching,” Jiang Feifei found it incredibly unbelievable.

”Because life here is too monotonous, it’s been quite peaceful lately, and there hasn’t been anything worth talking about. So everyone’s curious.”

”It was Captain who went and scolded them and drove everyone away before we came back,” Jianbin said on the side.

”That’s because Captain went to mediate their family conflicts.”

”Mom, why does the daughter-in-law want to separate from the family?” Shi Jing asked.

”There could be many reasons, but the fundamental reason is because the family is not united.”

The two boys didn’t understand and moved on from the topic.

”Mom, can we go to the room to listen to the radio?”

”Go ahead, Master Shang hasn’t come back yet, you three can go and play freely.”

Only the four of them were left in the room, ”Wife, when Shi Jing gets married, let’s let him live separately.”

”Is this inspiration or aftershock?”

”Both. After marriage, the heart is focused only on the small family. Since there’s no unity, it’s better to separate early. If you don’t want to, then we won’t.”

”I don’t mind. Those old folks might have been oppressed by their mothers-in-law in the past; they finally turned the tables to become the head of the family, and of course, they want to stand tall.”

”Haha, you certainly don’t have that kind of mindset; in our house, you are already in charge.”

”I don’t have such a strong desire for power; I just want to live lazily, and when the children have their families, we can travel together. After we get tired outside, we’ll return to our village and spend our later years there.”

”Okay, whatever you say,” Wei Kaiyun looked affectionately at his wife.

As he aged, she was still in her prime. For the first time, he disliked how much older he was compared to his wife; it used to be a concern, but now it was a true dislike.

”Let them get married and settle down early.”

”Humph, would you really let Feifei get married?”

Wei Kaiyun suddenly sat up; Shi Jing stirred uneasily, and he hurriedly patted his second son. Watching him settle down made him finally sit upright.

”Feifei doesn’t need to marry early; let the two brothers marry and move out separately.”

”Wei Kaiyun, are you planning to ruin your daughter’s future?” Jiang Xinyu asked with narrowed eyes.

Wei Kaiyun had a sorrowful look, ”I can’t let her be someone’s else’s child.”

”What do you want then?”

”I don’t know; just thinking about our precious daughter being someone else’s makes my heart ache,” Wei Kaiyun said, clutching his chest as if in immense pain.

”And when your sons marry someone’s daughter, don’t they cherish them too?”

”How can that be the same? Who in the world can compare to my daughter?”

Jiang Feifei originally came in looking for a book, overheard her parents’ conversation, and felt warm inside. This is the love of her parents. She didn’t end up taking the book and turned to leave.

On the bed, Jiang Xinyu glared at Wei Kaiyun, ”Immature. Every parent thinks their child is unique.I must tell you, when the kids grow up, let them decide for themselves. You just stay put.”

”But not Feifei,” Wei Kaiyun said stubbornly.

Jiang Xinyu waved her hand; this wasn’t something she wanted to worry about, so she’d let her future son-in-law figure it out himself.

Sister-in-law Liu came back half an hour later, excited as she entered the room. Seeing Wei Kaiyun there, she wanted to leave but was called by Jiang Xinyu.

”Sister-in-law Liu, what’s going on? How is Guiying? Did the bleeding stop?”

”The bleeding has stopped, but she’s crying sadly on the side while Changjiang kneels before his parents.”

”Didn’t the Captain mediate?”

”He did, but the old woman refused to listen, insisting on not dividing the family and even wanting to divorce Guiying.”

”That’s feudal thinking; a mother-in-law wanting to divorce her daughter-in-law isn’t easy. What does Changjiang think? Any opinion from the man?”

”That guy is just kneeling in front of his parents, wanting to split the family, even if it means leaving with nothing.Actually, Mrs. Li is being unreasonable, favoring her youngest son and daughter; Guiying is treated worse than a servant. My mother-in-law is not kind either, but she hasn’t treated me like that. Comparatively, I’m not the worst off.”

Jiang Xinyu laughed; without comparison, there’s no happiness?

”Did Old Li say anything?”

”He’s just a quiet old thing, not saying a word, only sighing on the side. The Captain left in anger, but Guiying’s daughter and son went to invite him back.”

”The Captain is straightforward; he probably can’t mediate. If Village Chief Li were here, it would be better. The timing is just off.”

Wei Kaiyun laughed from the side; do people need to pick a day to argue, a good day?

”Who wouldn’t agree? Captain left red-faced with anger, and that old woman from the Li Family is still flaunting her power,” Sister-in-law Liu said with a pout, never having seen such a person.

As the trio chatted, the door got knocked. After Sister-in-law Liu came back, she had locked the door.

Wei Kaiyun got up to open the door; with the urgency of the knocking, he wasn’t comfortable letting a woman open it.

Wei Kaiyun looked at the child outside the door, ”Who are you?”

”Master Wei, I’m here to find Teacher Jiang; my mom is about to be driven away.” The little boy said while crying.

Jiang Xinyu heard the commotion and came out, ”Ga Zi, what’s wrong?”

The kid seemed to find a support as he burst into loud cries, ”Teacher Jiang, please help my mom. My grandmother wants my mom to leave.”

Jiang Xinyu sighed, ”Alright, I’ll go with you. Sister-in-law Liu, you stay home with the two kids.”

”Alright, go ahead.”

Wei Kaiyun also followed his wife outside.

”Ga Zi, stop crying; no one can make your mom leave. Except maybe your dad, but even if your dad wants to, there’s a way to manage it, so stop crying.”

”Teacher Jiang, really?”

”Yes, believe me.”

”Teacher Jiang, I’ll go back first; I left my sister on the ground and I’m afraid she might fall.”

”Okay, go ahead.” Jiang Xinyu was truly pleased; Ga Zi was a good kid.

”Wife, you’re softhearted again,” Wei Kaiyun said with a smile.

”I can’t help it; I can’t bear seeing kids like this. Let’s go mix in with this messy situation; there’s really no choice.”
