Rebirth in Famine: She Thrives by Lucky Space

Chapter 714: 714 Full Moon照

Chen Hui convinced Ding Xiaojuan to take time off, and there was no trouble getting approval from the Captain. Nowadays, as long as the educated youth don’t cause trouble, it’s generally fine. However, going to the county or city is strictly controlled, and they don’t allow that easily.

However, taking some rest like this doesn’t face much hindrance.

Chen Hui went home, reminded his wife, and then headed to work.

He thought of going to the riverside to catch some fish in the evening to nourish his wife. Their days are quite tight, and with his wife pregnant now, she really needs nutrition. He couldn’t afford to let her suffer.

The educated youth learned that Ding Xiaojuan was pregnant. Everyone was very happy and congratulated Chen Hui.

”You’ve already got a kid. We’re still single, not to mention having partners.”

Chen Hui just laughed, feeling satisfied with the family he’s started and with Ding Xiaojuan. The couple is harmonious, living a respectful life together.

Wu Hong has become much quieter now, as the villagers completely ignore her, so she throws herself into work.

She always feels that what Huang Ying told her, about surely being able to return home someday, is true. So she has to persevere.

Still, she envies Chen Hui and Ding Xiaojuan. Both of them are educated youth, so even if there’s news of returning home in the future, they can return together.

She really envies them. It would be great if she could also find an educated youth, as she is at an age to start a family.

But her reputation was not good in the past, and she doesn’t fancy any of the remaining educated youth. It’s difficult, so she’ll wait and see, as it’s not a matter that can be rushed.

Ding Xiaojuan took a nap at home and felt much better. Looking at the clock, it was already three-thirty in the afternoon, and she’d slept for quite a while. But she did feel more comfortable.

She got up, carried a basket, and went outside to gather some wild vegetables. The small cabbages in the yard were ready to be thinned, but she decided to gather wild vegetables; even if they weren’t consumed, they could be dried as preserved vegetables.

Wei Kaiyun returned home and also strolled around the melon patch, although it didn’t really need monitoring. Other people’s melon patches, he didn’t know about, but nobody should steal from their own.

He came back with an enormous watermelon. Fruits are scarce, and since the kids love them, they should get to eat them. He also picked a few ears of corn, which were perfect for boiling now. His wife would surely enjoy them.

Jiang Xinyu had already asked Sister-in-law Liu to boil water. She intended to take a good bath today, really fed up with this, it’s unbearable. She’d prefer going through postpartum confinement in winter.

She washed three times vigorously using shampoo. It was necessary, as it felt like nothing would clean away the greasy feeling.

After cleaning up, she changed clothes. Although there was no mirror, since the clothes fit very well, it indicated she hadn’t gained weight, only her bust had increased somewhat, which was normal.

Wei Kaiyun saw his wife standing in the yard upon returning from the fields, ”Not bad, my wife looks even prettier.”

”You really know how to talk. Hurry up and give the corn to Sister-in-law Liu; I want some boiled corn.”

”Got it.” Wei Kaiyun had only thoughts of the night in his mind, so he smiled a bit suggestively.

Jiang Xinyu rolled her eyes at him, this guy.

Sister-in-law Liu cooked dinner while the couple bathed the two children.

”Go borrow a scale from the Captain, let’s see how much weight the kids have gained this month?”

”Okay, I’ll go after bathing them.” When he borrowed the scale, they weighed the kids by wrapping them in cloth. Little Shi Xian had gained nine pounds seven ounces, now weighing fifteen pounds nine ounces—truly a little fatty.

Little Jiang Tingting weighed thirteen pounds; not as fast growing as her brother, but they were both chubby and fair, looking particularly pretty.

The older three knew they could go to the city for a photo tomorrow and were very excited; they finally decided Master Shang would also go.

Though they only had one photo ticket, it’s acceptable to give food tickets or cloth tickets, so there should be no problem if they wanted more photos. Wei Kaiyun wasn’t worried about it.

”Xiao Wei, pick more watermelons tomorrow; ask around at the city supply and marketing cooperative.”

”Sure, I’ll pick them tomorrow morning.”

”There are plenty of watermelons, at least three thousand. Keep some at home, and give Old Yang a hundred here and there. Sell the rest.”

In the evening, Wei Kaiyun clung to his wife, not wanting to let go. He’d held back for months, and now finally indulged.

”Be careful; I don’t want to have any more. We already have four kids, that’s enough.” Jiang Xinyu gave Wei Kaiyun a slap. He just wouldn’t stop.

”Wife, I want another beautiful daughter like Feifei.”

Jiang Xinyu rolled her eyes. That’s how Wei Kaiyun was; Tingting was adopted by them, but in Wei Kaiyun’s mind, she wasn’t his biological child.

He usually plays with his son and seldom changes diapers for Tingting. In his heart, he doesn’t truly accept this child.

Jiang Xinyu had no choice; since they adopted her, they would treat her well. However, saying anything to him was no use. Perhaps it would improve once the children grew up.

People are emotional beings; over time, feelings will develop.

”I really don’t want to give birth anymore,” at least not in the next few years. It’s not just about giving birth; you also have to raise them. Raising means attentively educating them. Simply giving birth without raising them isn’t kindness.

Eventually, Jiang Xinyu pinched him several times to make him behave.

Contentedly hugging his wife, ”Wife, living days like this is addictive. I don’t have any other thoughts; just want to live this way. With wife and kids around, the rest are but clouds.”

”Hehe, your thoughts are quite good. These years, being sensible is also nice.”

”Are we still setting up the pesticide factory? Old Yang is waiting for people to be arranged to work.”

”Yes, we’ll handle it in the village’s name, won’t we?”

”That way, it’s really high-profile.”

”Such high-profile can be allowed, as long as villagers benefit, there’s no problem for our family.”

When going out, find several chemical factories; since we’re just blending, don’t end up without raw materials.”

”Hmm, Old Yang means after the autumn harvest, he’ll go out and let his wife come live with you.”

”Okay, having someone to cook at home brings liveliness; it reassures Old Yang when he goes out.

Besides, Guodong and Jing Chu will come by too. Let them all come.”

”Old Yang has arranged for someone to take care of his wife. Perhaps he just doesn’t feel safe about her alone in the village.”

The next day, early in the morning, Wei Kaiyun went to pick watermelons, whole ten big ones.

After the children practiced, they ate breakfast, and the family set off. Sister-in-law Liu said she’d keep an eye on the watermelons in the field.

Jiang Xinyu chuckled but didn’t refuse.

The car window was open; Northeast mornings and evenings in September were already quite cool.

Jiang Xinyu held the two children, Shi Jing and Monk Master sat in the front passenger seat, and she, along with the children, sat in the back.
