Rebirth in Famine: She Thrives by Lucky Space

Chapter 720: 720 sells watermelons

Almost all of them were young guys who, upon hearing Chaoyang’s words, couldn’t hold back their anger anymore.

”No problem. When we see Tang Jianjun alone someday, we’ll beat him so badly his mother won’t recognize him.”

Li Yunqiang ignored them; they were all young. If you’re in the right, you should have spirit.

At the side of the hospital, the large watermelon was unloaded, and immediately, people started gathering around.

Some even ran into the hospital, and soon, many people came out. In total, they bought twenty-nine, leaving just over ten. After selling at the train station for half an hour, they were all sold.

Xiang Dong drove the tractor, and everyone lay down in the back. ”Fourth Uncle, this is actually quite comfortable.”

”You won’t be saying that in a while.” Li Yunqiang sat there, not daring to smoke, considering they were surrounded by straw mats.

When they got home, everyone went into the brigade office. The money for these three hundred watermelons was handed to Li Yunqiang.

Chaoyang went to see Dad and recounted the encounter with Tang Jianjun in the city again.

”Dad, let’s go find them.”

”No hurry. Let’s wait until all the watermelons are sold.”

Li Yungui smoked, calming his son. They would go to Tangjiazhuang eventually, but not now. It’s more important to sell the watermelons now. When there’s downtime, they’ll go make trouble.

”Second Brother, are Dashuan and Gui Zi’s watermelons ripe?”

”Checked this afternoon, the day after tomorrow we can still pick a truck from both families. Tomorrow they can finish picking Wei Kaiyun’s watermelons.”

The next day was at the same time as yesterday, but they didn’t sell in the county town, and instead went straight to the city.

Still three stalls, Li Xue and her brothers went with Fourth Uncle. But in the city, they sold even faster than in the county town, after work, three hundred watermelons were sold out.

”Fourth Uncle, there are more rich people in the city.” Chaoyang said with a smile.

Li Xue nodded too ”Fourth Uncle, these watermelons sell too fast.

By the way, are you going home?”

”No, you three hurry home.”

Li Xue led her two younger brothers back ”Sis, our old home is really nice.” said the youngest, Li Hongling, happily.

”It’s just too tiring, you see there’s never a time when family members are idle.”

Li Xue nodded too, she considered telling Dad she wants to go back to the old home, even if it’s just to help cook for the second aunt’s family during the busy farming season.

Also, Teacher Jiang is really amazing, much better than their teachers. She solves difficult problems she couldn’t do with just a few quick scribbles.

With such a good teacher, she must seize the opportunity. Her sister-in-law has a good job because she graduated high school, she can too.

The three reached home to find only Mom there.

The three kids called out, with Li Hongling being the most favored. He grabbed Mom’s arm, recounting the sights and sounds of the village over the past two days.

”Mom, the old home is really nice, if you have a chance you must go see it. There they eat even better than we do here. Second Aunt made us egg pancakes, baked pancakes for us, and also cooked melons for us.

This is the cooked melon I brought back for you. It isn’t as sweet as watermelon, but it’s crispy, really delicious, Mom, quickly eat.”

Listening to the youngest rambling on, she didn’t believe the old home had changed this much. However, her son never lies, so perhaps life over there has really improved a lot.

”Mom, I want to go stay at Second Uncle’s during the winter break.”

”No, you stay home honestly, huh, not allowed to go?”

”Hmph, I’ll ask Dad later.” Li Hongling said and then ran off.

”Xue’er, look you’ve gotten so tan. Hurry and go rest. Have you done your homework? Is there anything you don’t understand? Come, I’ll explain to you.”

”No need. There’s a teacher in the village, a college graduate, who explains really well. Our teachers explain and I don’t understand, but Teacher Jiang makes it clear in one go.”

Why do both the son and daughter want to go to the old home? What’s good about the old home?

But looking at the large cooked melon on the coffee table, maybe the children are attracted by the food over there.

When the tractor returned to the village, Li Yungui instructed them to load the rotary tiller.

The seed drill sowed the wheat seeds, with the elders following behind. Looking at the sowing speed, they felt this could definitely work out well.

Li Yungui intended for the wheat seedlings to come up, then let several village heads who wanted to use the seed drill come to see. This way, it might earn a lot of money.

Li Xue found Dad after he returned home, ”Dad, I don’t want to go to school anymore. School is too chaotic now.”

Li Yunqiao sighed. He knew about the chaos too.

”Dad, I want to go back to the old home, where there’s a college graduate, Teacher Jiang, who explains really clearly. I want to go back, help Uncle and Aunt with a bit of work, and self-study during free time. If I don’t understand, I’ll turn to Teacher Jiang.”

Li Yunqiao was aware of Jiang Xinyu, his second brother had mentioned her. Actually, this was a good idea, the kids were still young, afraid they’d learn bad habits from the environment.

”Alright, I understand. Tomorrow I’ll handle your temporary leave from school, wait for the village’s tractor, and go back together.

Xue, I know you’re an honest child. Back in the old home, definitely help the family as much as possible, and guide your two younger brothers.”

”Dad, got it, but will Mom agree?”

”I’ll talk to her.” Li Yunqiao thought about sending his daughter and son back to the old home, his wife wouldn’t agree, but it’s for the kids’ good, she’d have no choice to act out. She doesn’t understand anything, has a short-sighted view, yet always feels she’s right.

They went to sell watermelons again the next day, this time in the county. Last time, they only sold at three factory gates, this time at another three gates.

The supply and marketing cooperative took fifty watermelons, obviously they were good sellers.

Chaoyang and Xiang Dong drove the tractor to the city, the cooperative also took fifty, leaving fifty more. They went to sell in front of the textile factory.

Today’s watermelons were smaller than the last two times, because Wei Kaiyun’s family only left one watermelon on each vine. They couldn’t bear to do so. So there were two or three watermelons on each vine, nutrients were limited, so their watermelons grew smaller.

Still, they were sold fairly quickly. ”My dad said there won’t be watermelons to sell tomorrow.” Xiang Dong sighed.

”Waiting a few days to sell is fine, but people still prefer big watermelons.”

”Chaoyang, do you think our village will grow watermelons next year?”

”Definitely, it’s very profitable, why wouldn’t they grow? Next year I’ll learn from Master Wei.”

The two returned to the county city, sales were bad today, they loaded them back on the tractor. Placed half at the hospital entrance, the rest went to the station entrance.

The train station still had the most foot traffic, and the remaining eighty watermelons sold out within an hour.

”Fourth Uncle, we should sell in the city.”

”Yeah, next time straight to the city. People aren’t getting enough fruit nowadays, willing to buy.”
