Rebirth in Famine: She Thrives by Lucky Space

Chapter 599: 599 study

Jiang Xinyu urged Lv Jingchu to speak again.

”Aunt Jiang, from the very start, I have been willing for the three of us to live out on our own. I’m not afraid of not fitting in, nor am I afraid of being ostracized by them.

The work is distributed per person anyway, so we can focus on our own without worrying about any complaints.

I know my brother is worried that we might be isolated and bullied by the village people.

But I feel that’s not a big deal. Having lived in the village for so long, I understand the villagers’ attitude toward us.

As long as we stay out of trouble, live according to the rules, and work, there shouldn’t be any problems.

Therefore, I agree to move out. This way, the three of us won’t have so many restrictions.”

Jiang Xinyu then looked at Guodong.

”Aunt Jiang, honestly, I’ve been considering a lot. We have two girls among us three, and I’m worried that I might not be able to look after them both.”

Jiang Xinyu smiled with relief. Wei Kaiyun’s face also showed a smile. A man like this is truly responsible.

”Guodong, your concern is reasonable, but have you thought about whether being with a group of boys guarantees safety? Are they necessarily all good people?”

This question stumped Lv Guodong. He really didn’t know and couldn’t guarantee it.

”Jing Chu and Xiao Li are both girls; they need to know how to protect themselves. Of course, they also need to maintain their integrity. Since you don’t intend to stay here, you must manage your relationships well.

Additionally, you must not act alone; you two should stick together. Most importantly, don’t get involved in others’ affairs.

As for Guodong, you need to maintain good relations with the villagers. But don’t overdo it; you need to learn how to balance this yourself.

As for me, I agree with Xiao Li and Jing Chu’s idea.”

Both girls were thrilled to hear Jiang Xinyu’s words.

”Aunt Jiang, the village has only one shabby house. Although we can get it for a hundred bucks, several families in the village wanted it, but the price kept them from sealing the deal.

If we buy it, will it offend those families?”

”Guodong, you’ve thought comprehensively. I also don’t know the local market prices here, nor do I know how much it costs to build a new house.”

”Aunt Jiang, I know. I heard from the villagers that building three main rooms and two wing rooms costs about two hundred and sixty to seventy.”

”No courtyard walls?”

”No. As you’ve seen, nearly none of our houses have courtyard walls.”

”If you really move out, having a courtyard wall is essential. It will make things much safer.”

”Aunt Jiang, I’ll go back and discuss this with the village chief. How about we build a new house? I’m thinking three hundred bucks should be enough. The three of us can pool our money together and manage.” Guodong made the final decision.

”Okay, go talk to the village chief first. Next month, when Master Yang comes, I’ll go there too, as I am your elder. I’ll help you organize it. Plus, with Master Yang’s connections, it should be feasible.

Let me know if you need anything. If it’s within my reach, I surely won’t refuse.”

With this decision made, the two girls were the happiest. Finally, they won’t have to squeeze together anymore, nor be upset.

The three of them went back to rest. Feifei lay in bed, looking at her mom, ”Now Brother and Sister can secretly eat good stuff.”

Jiang Xinyu smiled, ”Yes, I suspect the things I sent over, Jing Chu might have had to share with others, which is why there’s such resentment.”

”In the future, you and Old Yang should frequently check on them, or I’m afraid the three kids might face grievances.”

”Won’t you check too?”

”Hmm, if they give the impression of not being harmonious, it could be dangerous in the village.

But with Old Yang visiting frequently, they might be cautious.”

”Let’s hope so. Truthfully, I can be quite harsh, which is why I spent all my savings at the time to buy a house outside to live independently.”

Wei Kaiyun chuckled, recalling Jiang Xinyu’s stubbornness back then.

”You know, I was wondering then why this little girl was causing so much trouble? Wasn’t it unsafe to live outside alone?

But I couldn’t win against you, so I just let you have my house.”

”That was yours?” Jiang Xinyu stared at Wei Kaiyun wide-eyed.

”Hahaha, of course, it was mine. I spent six hundred to buy it. And when I heard your job sold for four hundred, that’s why I asked for all your money.”

”How could you do that? You even made a profit off of me?”

”Wife, you’re wrong. When did I profit from you? I sold it to you at a loss of two hundred.”

”But you still took my money, didn’t you?”

”If I hadn’t, you wouldn’t have lived there, right?”

Jiang Xinyu calmed down, ”True, otherwise I would have thought it was a trap and suspected you had ulterior motives.”

”Exactly! Didn’t I surrender all my money later?”

”Forgiven.” Jiang Xinyu finally shot a glare at Wei Kaiyun.

Jiang Feifei lay in bed, watching her parents banter back and forth, amused that her usually sharp mom was no match for dad.

The next day, the three younger ones got up on time for their exercises.

Lv Guodong looked on enviously and ended up following them.

Shang Zhenkun was quite satisfied with Lv Guodong. Although the boy wasn’t as smart as Shi Jing and Jianbin, he was steady and knew what he wanted, which is invaluable.

So he was willing to give him some advice.

Breakfast consisted of cornmeal porridge, fried eggs with red pickles, pickled radish, and leftover rice from last night, stir-fried with cabbage hearts.

The two girls were embarrassed for getting up late.

”No problem. Girls can sleep a bit longer.”

”Aunt Jiang, we used to get woken up by the cold. Last night was just so comfortable.”

Jiang Xinyu nodded with understanding, truly empathizing with them.

After breakfast, the two girls boiled water and washed all their clothes, hanging them out to dry.

Guodong joined the three younger kids to listen to Master Shang’s teachings.

But he only went to Jiang Xinyu’s room when Jing Chu came to call him.

On the kang bed, a table was placed. Jiang Xinyu started teaching them high school courses.

Zhao Xiaoli listened nearby. Although she had attended high school and her grades were decent, Jiang Xinyu’s explanations immediately cleared up anything she didn’t understand.

”I’ll teach you subject by subject.”

The three of them had no objections, of course.

Seeing their earnest attitude towards learning, Jiang Xinyu nodded in satisfaction. How could they not succeed like this?

Wei Kaiyun sat on the side reading, listening to his wife’s lesson. He believed she would make an excellent teacher. Even he could understand her lessons.

His heart swelled with pride. This was his wife, and he was once again grateful for the blessings life had bestowed, bringing such a wonderful person to his side.
