Rebirth in Famine: She Thrives by Lucky Space

Chapter 567: 567 care

”I told you this because I want you to get better quickly. We are waiting for you, the four of us.

You don’t know, these few days have felt like years to me, terrified that I wouldn’t find you, scared of not getting any news from you, afraid of losing you.”

Jiang Xinyu cried even more sorrowfully, and Wei Kaiyun was so busy wiping her tears that he couldn’t keep up. His heart ached with worry.

”Wife, I will be fine. I’ll definitely be there with the four of you.”

After quite a while, Jiang Xinyu finally stopped crying.

”Do you have any idea? When might you leave?”

”I’m not having a fever now, and they probably will make arrangements soon.”

”I’ll go with you, so I can take care of you.”

”Wife, thank you. Thank heaven for sending you to my side.”

Jiang Xinyu nodded with reddened eyes. ”You need to sleep quickly; your injuries heal faster when you sleep.

I have to go out and check on Lu Weiqi, see if he’s been released.”

Wei Kaiyun shook his head, ”No need, don’t see anyone. Lu Weiqi will be fine; I’ve been keeping an eye out and he won’t even lose his job.”

Only then did Jiang Xinyu feel at ease. It was best not to affect others or feel guilty for them.

Wei Kaiyun saw that Jiang Xinyu wasn’t in great spirits either, and there was a bed nearby. ”Xinyu, you should rest too. Your body can’t handle being tired right now.”

”Don’t worry about me, just focus on recovering.”

In the afternoon, Jiang Xinyu went again to stew some bone broth; it really needed to be consumed at every meal. She also prepared some herself and found someone on the dining car to help stew the soup. Anyway, no matter what, Wei Kaiyun had to have enough nutrition.

When she returned, she didn’t go directly into the ward but wanted to inquire about when Wei Kaiyun would be sent away.

”Comrade, with Director Wei’s current situation, do you know how long he’ll stay in the hospital?”

”The orders from above are to leave in a week; two days have already passed, so there are still five days left.”

”Comrade, do you know where he’s going?”

The two didn’t hide it from her and told her the address; it really was Old Yang’s place.

”It’s also the two of us who’ll send him over.”

This made Jiang Xinyu happy; she thanked them, feeling relieved. Since there’s a specific time, she could go find a way. She had sought help from Zhang Songpo’s friend before, and she would go again this time.

In the evening, Jiang Xinyu helped Wei Kaiyun wipe his body.

”Tomorrow I’ll go to the train station to find someone. It’s still the two outside sending you over; I’ve already bought four sleeper tickets so you won’t be too uncomfortable.

I think it’s already very good if they have seats; if I buy sleeper tickets, they’ll definitely be satisfied. Since it’s the two outside, it’ll be easier.”

”Alright, but will it be too difficult? I can’t let you go find someone now.”

”It’s okay; I asked for help before, so there shouldn’t be any problem. If not, I’ll just spend more money.”

Wei Kaiyun nodded. His wife definitely was going with him. Having sleeper tickets was necessary, especially since her health wasn’t particularly good right now.

That night, Jiang Xinyu slept on another bed with a coat over her.

The next morning, she went out to buy food, and of course, bought fried dough sticks and tofu brains for the two at the door.

Now Jiang Xinyu didn’t care at all about the money and things; as long as it provided convenience for her and enabled her to take better care of Wei Kaiyun, spending more was no concern.

In the morning, the doctor came to check, quite amazed by Wei Kaiyun’s recovery speed, but it was also a good thing to get better so quickly.

Then Jiang Xinyu went to the train station, directly found Station Chief Liu, and explained the situation.

”Could I trouble you to book four sleeper tickets in one carriage? We happen to have four people going to the Northeast.”

”No problem, this isn’t a big deal. Come, I’ll take you there.”

Actually, it’s too early for tickets to be sold, but with the station chief, this really was just a small matter.

Jiang Xinyu happily took the sleeper tickets, then went to the post office to call Old Yang.

She mentioned the departure time and then hung up the phone.

Back home, she prepared twenty meat buns before heading to the hospital.

Her relationship with the two comrades was now really good. One evening, she said she would follow to send Wei Kaiyun over and had already bought sleeper tickets.

”You can’t come with us, but it’s okay to meet on the train.”

Jiang Xinyu understood, nodded, and thanked them again. When they reached the Northeast, she would definitely thank them.

A week later, on January 13th of ’67, Jiang Xinyu saw that Wei Kaiyun had recovered pretty well. Although his leg wasn’t fine, she’d consulted the doctor to have the splint firmly secured, so she felt reassured.

In the morning, after the four of them finished breakfast, Jiang Xinyu left first. She had already prepared crutches so that Wei Kaiyun could use them to walk, because one of his legs was fine.

Jiang Xinyu had already given the three sleeper tickets to them; the train was departing at 9:30 in the morning, so she went back to prepare things, then go onto the train.

At Wei Kaiyun’s side, only one person was left to watch him, while the others went back to get documents. Due to Wei Kaiyun’s situation, the other side would drive to send them.

Jiang Xinyu returned home, putting everything into the space, and then began preparing living supplies and some food. She took out ten pounds of sausages, as four people needed to stay on the train for over ten days, so the rest wasn’t critical, mainly the food.

Also, there was a bag of meat buns, a bag of bread, milk powder, malted milk, and some apples and snacks.

She thought for a moment, then decided these would do. She carried them out to catch a ride; there was still an hour, and although the big bags in her hands weren’t light, she had no other choice.

At the train station, she directly bought platform tickets, knowing the sleeper was in the fifth car, so she stood there waiting.

Yesterday, Wei Kaiyun had instructed her not to wait for him outside; they would come to find her.

Worried about causing unnecessary troubles, Jiang Xinyu wouldn’t wait outside, even though she knew Wei Kaiyun’s mobility wasn’t good now.

She kept looking, because Wei Kaiyun used crutches, making him easy to spot. Seeing them come over, she was finally relieved.

However, they couldn’t board here; they were arranged with hard seats, so they could only go to the sleeper to find Jiang Xinyu after the train started.

Once on the train, she quickly sneaked out a bag of seafood buns. These were for the other two as the couple couldn’t eat seafood now.

She replaced the bed sheet in the lower berth of the room before sitting down to wait.

After half an hour, the door was finally pushed open, and Jiang Xinyu hurriedly greeted them, holding Wei Kaiyun up.

The two were very quick-witted, directly putting down their luggage and going to the upper berth to rest.
