Rebirth in Famine: She Thrives by Lucky Space

Chapter 559: 559 Trivia

When they arrived at the Yao Family, Qiao Jingyi came out to meet them.

”You better be careful, you’re a priority protection case now, it makes me very uneasy.”

Qiao Jingyi rolled her eyes, and said irritably, ”It’s not as scary as you think, okay?”

”Alright, come on, let’s go inside quickly.”

At this moment, Yao Shimin’s parents also came out. ”This must be Vice Factory Director Jiang? You truly are young and capable.”

”Thank you, uncle, for the compliment. Hello, aunt!”

The Yao couple responded with smiles.

Jiang Xinyu was holding onto Qiao Jingyi, as cautiously as a servant supporting a master.

”Xinyu, I’m really fine, it’s just that Yao Shimin is being overly cautious.”

”You should be grateful; how many women are as fortunate as you? A man treats you well, and you still complain?”

”But am I really going to stop working now? Isn’t that over the top?”

Jiang Xinyu patted Qiao Jingyi’s arm, understanding Yao Shimin’s perspective. After all, he’s twenty-nine, and they’re just having a child now, so of course he’s very mindful.

”Didn’t you always like a carefree lifestyle? Isn’t this exactly what you want?”

”But never going out at all is too stifling.”

”You’re always overthinking things, just stay put.”

Yao’s parents also went into the room, hurrying to pour hot water for Jiang Xinyu.

”You sisters chat here, we’ll head to the kitchen,” Mother Yao said with a smile.

Honestly, being this age and finally seeing another generation, they are genuinely happy. The child in their daughter-in-law’s womb is precious beyond measure. So they took leave to come and take care of her without a second thought.

”Uncle, Aunt, don’t trouble yourselves, I’m not a stranger here.”

”Okay, no strangers here, you chat with Jingyi, this child feels terribly lonely at home.”

The elders went out, leaving only the two of them in the room.

”Xinyu, are you really leaving?”

”Yes, I already have my train ticket, leaving early morning the day after tomorrow.”

”Huh? Why are you leaving so soon?”

”I miss my child too.”

”Alright, make sure to live well over there.”

”Haha, you still don’t know me well; I can live well anywhere. But you, don’t take your fortune for granted, nurture your pregnancy well, being taken care of and having a man who cares about you is a blessing.”

”I know, it’s just that being alone at home feels so dull. Yao Shimin wants me to wait until the child is one year old before going back to work.”

Jiang Xinyu burst into laughter; this is scarier than modern pregnant women. She had only heard that career women got a few months off for pregnancy, but here it’s a straight two years.

”You’re laughing? I find it terrifying just thinking about it.”

”There’s nothing scary. Just stay put, when your belly grows bigger, going out becomes dangerous, and after the baby is born, you’ll need to feed them and can return to work when they’re weaned at one year.”

”It’s not like the textile factory is owned by my family, keeping this job might be uncertain.”

”Rest assured, it’s not an issue. Yao Shimin is a technical talent, Qian Jun will treat him extraordinarily well, you don’t need to worry about your job.”

”I’m just bored being at home by myself all day.”

”There’s no other way, you must adjust yourself. Others can’t help you; wait until the weather warms up and you can go out for a walk, don’t overthink it.”

”Sigh! Guess that’s all I can do.”

”Don’t let your thoughts run wild; keep a good mood for a healthy baby.”

”I know,” Qiao Jingyi said helplessly.

Yao Shimin returned, immediately coming to his wife’s side, sitting down next to her and holding her hand, ”How are you feeling today? Any discomfort?”

Jiang Xinyu smiled as she watched her happy friend.

”I’m fine, really good. Go clean up; it’ll be time to eat soon.”

”Xinyu, stay with Jingyi, I’ll go freshen up.”

For dinner, there were cabbage and meat dumplings; Mother Yao’s cooking skills really shined, even without the variety of seasonings from later times, she still made them delicious, showing deep culinary expertise.

Mother Yao kept encouraging Qiao Jingyi to eat more, and she obediently ate sixteen dumplings.

”Mom, I’m full.”

”Alright, if you get hungry before bed, I’ll cook more for you, there are still raw dumplings frozen outside.”

Jiang Xinyu genuinely envied her old classmate at this moment, meeting such a family like the Yao’s is truly Qiao Jingyi’s luck.

After dinner, Qiao Jingyi pulled Jiang Xinyu aside, ”You’re leaving the day after tomorrow, who knows when we’ll meet again? Stay with me a bit longer.”

”Haha, I won’t be the third wheel; you have your man with you. I’ll call when I get there.”

After leaving the Yao’s home, Jiang Xinyu went straight back home. She started boiling water to steam bread.

At six the next morning, it was still dark when she finished breakfast, and the door knocked.

”Sister, have you and your husband eaten?”

”Yes, we have. How about you?”

”I’ve had breakfast too, shall we go?”

The three of them set off, and as they walked, it became brighter. When they reached the township, Jiang Xinyu bought a lot of burnable paper and then went directly back to the village.

The basket was tied to the back of Chen Guoliang’s bicycle, ”Sister, you guys head home; I’ll burn some paper. I’ll come to find you afterwards.”

”No, I’m not comfortable leaving you, we’ll follow you.”

”What’s there to worry about? What’s going to happen to me in the village?”

”Just because we’re back, I’m even more uneasy.”

”Go home, even though they’d probably wish me dead, they don’t have the guts.”

Finally, Jiang Xinyu went to the graveyard by herself.

She crouched down, took out some offerings, then lit incense and started burning paper.

A bag of paper money took quite a while to burn.

Crouching there tossing paper, she thought fondly about the Jiang couple.

Finally, she swore to them that she would live her life well.

Before leaving, she also burned paper money for the Jiang Family’s grandfather, only then did she leave the grave site.

Seeing Wang Ailing and her husband waiting for her not far away, she felt a tingling gratitude.

”Sister, let’s go home.”

”Alright, everyone’s waiting for you at home.”

The three of them walked down the road home, meeting many villagers who greeted them warmly.

Jiang Xinyu responded with smiles to each greeting, taking twenty minutes to walk home.

Sun Ermei came out from the house to welcome them. ”Xinyu, come inside quickly.”

”Aunt, it’s cold outside, you don’t need to come out; don’t I know to go inside?”

Sun Ermei held her hand with a smile, without saying more.

After they entered the house, she urged Jiang Xinyu to sit on the kang, ”I’ll go brew some tea soup for you guys.”

Jiang Xinyu greeted Wang Jianqiang and played with Wang Xiaolong’s son, who was lethargic due to a cold.

”Xinyu, are you really giving up just like that?”

”Uncle, weighing the two, I’ve chosen my child.”
