Rebirth in Famine: She Thrives by Lucky Space

Chapter 446: 446 Divorce Registration

The number of people arriving kept increasing, and by the time the civil affairs bureau opened, there were already ten couples.

The two took out their household registration books and introduction letters, handing them to the staff.

The staff asked them some routine questions and even had them swear an oath in front of the Chairman’s portrait. Then the two received their marriage certificates.

Holding the marriage certificate, Yao Shimin was all smiles; now they were a protected couple.

”Take me back to school. My second class is today. I can still make it.”

”Do you still have to work?”

”Of course, you should go back to work too.”

”I’ll go back tonight. After I take you home, I’ll head to the building. You’ll definitely need to give your colleagues wedding candies, so I’ll bring them to you when I pick you up at noon.”

”Sure.”

”Don’t you need to buy them?”

”I’ll buy them when I go back. Secretary She at the supply and marketing cooperative is pretty good; he can definitely prepare the wedding candies for me.”

Qiao Jingyi hurriedly went to school, and Yao Shimin went to the building. He realized there were lots of things missing at home, so he took this opportunity to prepare some stuff.

He bought enough cotton to make two comforters, and listening to the suggestion of the store clerk, he bought four, thinking he’d figure out how to get the rest of the cotton when he went to the county.

Curtains and door curtains can be bought from the factory, and he also bought five pounds of fruit candies, leaving these for his wife since she has many classmates, friends, and colleagues.

Then he bought two bottles of wine for his father-in-law and four pounds of pastries for his mother-in-law.

Seeing that it was about time, he drove to the school to pick up his wife, deliberately bringing a pound of candies.

Today, colleagues already knew that Qiao Jingyi had registered for marriage, and those who had a good relationship with her asked her to share some wedding candies.

Yao Shimin arrived just in time, and Qiao Jingyi took the opportunity to give candies to everyone.

Once they left the school, ”Jingyi, let’s go to the restaurant.”

”No, Mom said she prepared lunch for us, Dad and they are coming home for lunch.”

”Let’s go to the restaurant and see if there are any good dishes. I bought several lunchboxes to bring back.”

”Alright.”

They arrived at the restaurant, and there was braised pork today. They bought two portions and then went home.

Today Mr. Qiao and Mrs. Qiao came home for lunch, buying food from the cafeteria and stir-frying an egg with tomatoes at home.

Seeing that the two had bought braised pork, they thought it was nice.

After the four of them finished eating, Yao Shimin took out a box from his pocket. ”Jingyi, I bought this watch for you. This design is nice.”

”I already have a watch.”

”You have your own; this is the one I bought for you. For things like bicycles and sewing machines that people get when they marry, we are all prepared.”

Mr. and Mrs. Qiao listened, feeling happy, but disagreed.

”Shimin, no need to buy a bicycle, Jingyi’s was bought this year. You can buy a sewing machine; later when you have children, it’ll be needed for making alterations.”

”Mom, you and Dad only have one bicycle. I’ll buy you another; I have a ticket.”

”No need, having two bicycles is not much use to us. Shimin, you should save some for daily life.”

”Fine, then we’ll buy a radio. I also have a ticket for that.”

Seeing their son-in-law so excited, the old couple didn’t say much.

”Shimin, when are your parents coming over?”

”I called Mom on Sunday; I’ll ask Dad at work tomorrow how they have arranged it.”

”Alright, what about the furniture?”

”I called the furniture factory today; it should be delivered to me by National Day.”

”So we aren’t lacking anything. Here, it’s just Jingyi’s uncle, aunt, and two aunts from four families, for the returning home visit we’ll just be at home.”

”Mom and Dad, our side has no relatives left, so we’ll wait until New Year when we both go back to meet my friends.”

”Hmm, alright, we are going back to work. Shimin, you have a car, so leave after dinner.”

”Mom and Dad, I’m not staying for dinner; I’ll head back in the afternoon. I need to ask the sisters at the union to help with making the comforters. I have prepared four sets, and I also need help with the curtains and door curtains.”

”Alright, take a rest before you go back.”

The old couple left, and Yao Shimin carried Qiao Jingyi back to her room.

”No.”

”Honey, I’m leaving soon; it’s four days before I see you again, and I can’t stand it.”

In the end, he got his way. ”Honey, you should visit me, it’s more convenient at our own place, and you can see what’s missing so we can prepare.”

”Okay, I’ll take the first bus.”

After sending off her husband, Qiao Jingyi cleaned up the house, took a bath, and made dinner for the family.

At night, the family of four had dinner together. ”Jingyi, when you go to the textile factory, what work will you do?”

”I don’t know either; this Saturday, I’ll go find Xinyu and ask her; it should start getting arranged over there. Besides, I need to inform the principal.”

”Just have a clear idea of what you want.”

”Mom, don’t worry, Xinyu will definitely find me a good job position.”

Yao Shimin didn’t unload the car but went directly to the factory. Work hadn’t ended, so he went straight to the union.

”Sister Meng, I have something to ask of you.”

”What does Vice Factory Director Yao need?”

”I’m getting married, and the comforters aren’t made yet. I’d like to ask Sister Meng for help to finish them.”

”Haha, congratulations Vice Factory Director Yao; no problem, I’ll find a few people to go to your place on Saturday to make them.”

”Thank you so much, Sister Meng. I’m still short of cotton for two comforters; I’ll go to the supply and marketing cooperative to ask. We’ll be waiting for you on Saturday.”

”Alright, it’ll be done early.”

”What about curtains and door curtains?”

”Vice Factory Director Yao, you still need your wife to choose them. Once chosen, I can make them in one night.”

”Great, thank you, Sister Meng.”

He finished speaking and returned to his office. He grabbed the bicycle keys and tied all the cotton and comforter materials to the bike, then went to hand over the bike keys.

Jiang Xinyu had not yet finished her work when she heard the end-of-shift bell; she still put down her work today, as She Xiaoyun and Wang Ailing were going to help her.

She wanted to do it yesterday, but it was too late, so she decided on today.

Biking back home, she hurried to make dinner.

For tonight, there was rice porridge, stir-fried eggplant with eggs, and salty red vegetables.

The two children liked seafood porridge, but they’d been eating it constantly, and she worried it might cause them to get a heatstroke, so plain porridge was better.

”Mom, is Brother Zhiwei coming today?”

”Yes, they are coming to work.”

After the four finished dinner, Jiang Xinyu took the two kids to bring out all the canning jars; this time it should be enough. She wondered when Lv Beiguang and their wine bottles would arrive?

Then she prepared the chopping board, knives, and bowls, cleaning both large pots. They were just waiting for people from the two families.

The two families arrived after half an hour. The children went to play, while the adults worked in the yard.

Chopping chilies and garlic was really tough, so Chen Guoliang and Wang Tongzhou volunteered to do the work.
