Rebirth in Famine: She Thrives by Lucky Space

Chapter 427: 427 Kong Family

Kong Dehong didn’t act on his selfish thoughts. Since she didn’t admit it, let it go for now. But in the future, I’ll take care of her as much as possible.

Currently, Kong Demin feels like he’s on a winning streak, but the only thing that dissatisfies him is lacking Jiang Xinyu.

However, he’s afraid to make a move right now; it’s not that he doesn’t want to, but he knows that someone with no connections couldn’t possibly become a deputy factory director.

That’s how people are; the more unobtainable something is, the more they desire it.

Even though he has a son, he can’t be public about it, but some of his subordinates know.

So, they all discussed it and agreed to give a month’s salary, meaning at least thirty yuan each.

Of course, some weren’t happy about it, but since Kong Demin is the top dog here, no one wants to offend him. They all think paying up is better than trouble.

From these contributions, Kong Demin collected more than two thousand yuan.

Feeling pleased, he ended up drinking a bit too much at lunch due to the coaxing of his subordinates.

Alone in the office, he felt uncomfortable. All he could think about was Jiang Xinyu.

It’s not that she’s exceptionally beautiful; it’s just that he believes she’s compatible with him.

As he staggered around, Wang Dajiang happened to come by.

”Director Kong, what’s up?”

”Dajiang, I want to go to the textile factory.”

Wang Dajiang understood what he meant. ”Director Kong, even if we go, we can’t get in. The textile factory’s guard is very strict.”

”Hmm, then call her out. Drive there.”

”Sure.” Of course, he wouldn’t stop him from courting disaster himself. The more trouble he causes now, the bigger the problem later.

Wang Dajiang helped Kong Demin into the car and parked it right at the entrance of the textile factory.

”Director Kong, we’re at the textile factory.”

Kong Demin opened his bleary eyes, ”Where is this?”

”The textile factory.”

Kong Demin rubbed his forehead, ”Let’s go back.”

”Director Kong?”

”Go back.” Although he wasn’t sober yet, he knew what he was doing. It wasn’t the right opportunity yet; he needed a good excuse to get Jiang Xinyu in his hands. Even though she already had two kids, marrying her would still be appropriate. A female deputy factory director is also prestigious.

”Yes, Director Kong.”

”Just take me home.”

”Okay.”

Kong Demin didn’t let Wang Dajiang in and went inside by himself.

He went directly to Zheng Xiuxiang’s room and saw her sleeping with the child. This child was different from Changjun; he shouldn’t be a fool.

He quietly withdrew and entered Meng Xiu Fen’s room, where Changjun was also sleeping.

Finally, he wandered into his own room and immediately fell asleep.

In his dreams, he became a big leader with many people under his command.

He woke up after Meng Xiu Fen returned. ”Why are you back today?”

”I drank a bit at lunch, so Wang Dajiang brought me back. Took a nap, feeling much better now.”

”What’s up? Is something wrong with your health?”

”Nope. I’m going to check on the kids.”

Kong Dehong rode his bike home in the afternoon. Tian Shulan was quite puzzled, ”Why did you come back?”

”Mom, my second brother now has a son, born yesterday.”

”Dehong, don’t talk about this outside.”

”Am I an idiot? Mom, find me a partner, too.”

”Yearning for a wife now?” Tian Shulan joked.

”Mom, hurry and find me one. Doesn’t matter if she has a job, as long as she’s honest and respectful to you both. But she can’t look bad, either.”

”Why not have your elder sister and second brother help you find one from the county?”

”No need to involve my second brother; he’s busy now. I’ll go see my elder sister tomorrow.”

Kong Dehong felt a bit annoyed; why didn’t he think of the fact that there are many female workers at the textile factory?

During dinner, Kong Zhongyou just asked a question and didn’t press further. The sons are grown, and they no longer listen to him. He actually thought Demin should marry that woman, after all, she bore him a son. But when he mentioned it last time, his son was very impatient. So, he decided to shut up, lest he annoy his son.

After dinner, Kong Dehong rode his bike back, planning to visit his elder sister in the morning.

Kong Menglin and Cheng Changsheng also learned that their second brother has a son. Kong Menglin didn’t have much to say; having a son is always better than having a daughter.

”Menglin, go visit your second brother’s house tomorrow.”

”Hmm, I’ll take some gifts.”

The couple has been getting along quite well lately. Kong Menglin is following Meng Xiu Fen’s advice to the letter, and it turns out Cheng Changsheng really responds to it, treating her much better than at the beginning.

”Take fifty yuan with you.”

”Fifty?”

”Yes, not too little. Now you’re a married woman; the gift money can’t be too low.”

”Alright, I understand. Let’s both visit after work tomorrow evening; otherwise, we’ll just get a glimpse of the child. My second brother should know we’re there.”

Cheng Changsheng obviously wanted to go together, as the Kongs had been hostile toward him initially, and this was a chance to improve relations.

”Alright, we’ll go together. My second brother has too many opinions about me; this is a chance to mend fences.”

Kong Menglin didn’t respond, thinking her second brother just wants to put pressure on him.

The next afternoon after work, Cheng Changsheng specifically went to find Kong Menglin.

The two went home first, primarily to see Kong Demin; if they went too early, they might miss him.

Kong Dehong rode his bike to his elder sister’s house.

”Dehong, have you eaten? Sit down quickly.”

”Brother-in-law, where’s my elder sister?”

”She went to the dining hall; Jianfeng wants to eat some buns.”

”Brother-in-law, my second brother has a son now.”

Huang Hongwei was taken aback; he never went to Kong Demin’s home, so he didn’t know about Zheng Xiuxiang.

”A son?”

”Born to that woman who takes care of their kids.”

Now Huang Hongwei understood. ”Your elder sister will be back soon. Have a seat and wait for her to bring back the buns.”

In the yard, two children’s voices could be heard.

”Uncle, Uncle.”

”Jianfeng, craving buns again?”

”Yes, I’m hungry. Uncle, you try them; they’re delicious.”

”Elder sis.”

”Let’s eat first.”

”Elder sis, my second brother now has a son.”

”Born to that young girl?”

”Yes.”

”I’ll go and see after we eat.”

After meal, the two kids wanted to go along but were declined by Kong Mengjie. They were to wait at home.

The sisters rode their bikes away, ”Elder sis, find me a partner.”

”Sure.” Kong Mengjie realized this was her little brother wanting a wife.

”I went home yesterday, and mom said you and second brother should find me someone with a job, one that lives in the county.”

”Dehong, save your money; you’re living in second brother’s house, and you’ll need to find your own place when you get married.”

”Yes, I have more than two hundred yuan, if it’s not enough, you can lend me some, I’ll borrow some from dad and mom as well, and maybe I can buy a place. I know finding a partner without a house is tough.”
