Global Awakening: I'm the Only One Ready

Chapter 92. Awakening the Martial Dao Heavenly Eyes, Chang’an in Peril! (2)

”I don’t need your concern.” The White King didn’t bother to insist. A fight between them would be a difficult fight. After all, one was capable of flight while the other could only fight on land.

The White King turned its massive figure around and continued on its path. It had been preparing for a long time, and it was confident of its success. This time, humanity would definitely pay.

”Hmph.” The great peng snorted and soared high into the sky, leaving the beast tide behind. Then, it debated whether to inform Lu Yuan or not. Lu Yuan was human, after all.

In the end, it decided to inform Lu Yuan about it. It wouldn’t change anything after all, and besides, it despised the White King. When the Golden-Winged Great Peng had first arrived in Qinling, the old snake coveted its mythical bloodline.

If not for its caution and the advantage of flight, it would have been devoured a long time ago. With its mind made up, it spread its wings and raced back.

Soon, it arrived at the Valley of Fading Twilight. As the Golden-Winged Great Peng prepared to descend, however, it suddenly froze in mid-air.

In the distance, Lu Yuan sat cross-legged, emanating a brilliant light that made him look like a deity. Waves of powerful aura gushed out of him. The aura was so powerful that even the Golden-Winged Great Peng could feel it from high up in the sky.

It froze, its thoughts racing. Is he evolving? How come it happened so fast? The man was already strong; what would he become after another evolution?

As it watched, a bold and chilling conclusion formed in its mind. The aura pulsing from Lu Yuan was far stronger than what he had displayed during their battle. There was no mistaking it. Lu Yuan hadn’t gone all out.

Otherwise, the Golden-Winged Great Peng would have died in mere seconds.

This human is unbelievably strong, and his foundation is incomparably deep, it mused, its inherited memories allowed it to deduce many things from Lu Yuan’s aura. I can’t sense any special bloodline within him, but I believe he will reach the apex of the path of evolution.

Perhaps becoming his mount wasn’t so bad after all...

Just then, it realized that Lu Yuan couldn’t be disturbed at all, as he was in the middle of a critical juncture. The news about the White King’s move would have to wait.

In the end, the Golden-Winged Great Peng decided not to descend. Instead, it patrolled the skies above the valley, releasing its powerful aura to drive away any wandering mutated beasts.

Since it had become Lu Yuan’s mount, it had to fulfill its duties. After all, their lives were linked through the Blood Bond. If anything were to happen to Lu Yuan, it would end up suffering as well.

Just like that, several days passed in a flash.

Lu Yuan sat cross-legged, and his once-explosive aura was now converging back within him. He had completely digested the power of the Heaven-Earth Profound Ginseng.

The powerful energy contained within the ginseng had allowed him to break eight more genetic shackles in quick succession. Combined with the previous twelve, he had shattered a total of twenty genetic shackles. If news of this were to spread, it would shake the world.

The number of Unfettered Realm experts across the world could only be counted on one hand, which meant someone at Lu Yuan’s level would effectively be considered invincible.

However, breaking those shackles wasn’t the main profit.

Rumble!

All of a sudden, the earth rumbled, and Lu Yuan’s eyes snapped open. Two beams of golden light shot out of his eyes, piercing a thousand meters into the sky. The beams of light exuded an inexplicable, profound aura that seemed to strip everything beneath it to its core, exposing everything.

It was like nothing could be hidden beneath those beams of light.

High above, the Golden-Winged Great Peng was utterly shocked. The Martial Dao Heavenly Eyes?He actually awakened the Martial Dao Heavenly Eyes?!

The Golden-Winged Great Peng’s inherited memories contained descriptions of such a phenomenon. When a creature reached a certain peak on its path of evolution, it could manifest its latent potential and unlock an incredible ability.

The Martial Dao Heavenly Eyes was one of the most difficult abilities to awaken. It allowed its user to see through any technique and even learn it with terrifying speed.

More than that, the eye itself was a divine ability. Eventually, the simple act of opening and closing one’s eyes would unleash a tremendous power, shattering any illusion.

It was a terrifying ability that left even the Golden-Winged Great Peng deeply shaken.

Awakening the Martial Dao Heavenly Eyes was extraordinarily difficult even for mutated beasts with powerful bloodlines. Humans weren’t supposed to be able to awaken it due to the restrictions placed upon them by heaven and earth since ancient times.

Yet Lu Yuan had achieved it, and he was only an Unfettered Realm expert.

I think being his mount isn’t that bad. The idea solidified in the Golden-Winged Great Peng’s mind. In its eyes, Lu Yuan was no longer an ordinary human being. He was something terrifying—far more terrifying than even a mutated beast with a mythical bloodline like itself.

A few moments later, Lu Yuan restrained his aura. Of course, he was aware that he had awakened the legendary Martial Dao Heavenly Eyes, which was considered the strongest among all of the unique abilities a human being could awaken from their latent potential.

With it, his strength would soar. In addition, he knew that in the later stages of his path of evolution, the Martial Dao Heavenly Eyes would grow even more powerful. Even among the invaders from outer space, only a few of them had attained strength of this extent.

Indeed, I wasn’t disappointed, he thought, delighted. This journey to Qinling has been a fruitful one.

His ten years of memories held many more treasures yet to be claimed. At this rate, he would be able to crush those invaders from outer space, and then proceed on his path to reach the apex!

Emptying his mind, he turned to the skies and said, ”Come down here.”

He knew the Golden-Winged Great Peng was nearby, but he didn’t mind that it had witnessed his evolution. If he wanted the Golden-Winged Great Peng to submit to him in both body and soul, the latter needed to have a true understanding of his strength.

”Master, congratulations on awakening the Martial Dao Heavenly Eyes,” the Golden-Winged Great Peng said as it landed, its tone far more respectful than before.

It knew his master had become even stronger. ”In the future, you will surely become a powerhouse of this world.”

”Enough with the flattery. How long was I in seclusion?”

”Five days, Master. Not too long.”

”Did anything happen while I was busy?” Lu Yuan asked. There was no phone reception this deep in Qinling.

”Well,” the Golden-Winged Great Peng replied. ”I’ve been patrolling the area, and I did encounter the White King—it’s the ruler of this region, and it’s very strong. The Brown Bear King was its subordinate, and I’m not its match, either.”

Wait, did I just belittle myself? The Golden-Winged Great Peng paused in realization. Then, it quickly added, ”But that’s only for now. My bloodline isn’t pure yet. Once I’ve visited the next blessed land, I’ll be able to purify my bloodline, and by then, the White King won’t be my match.”

It knew its own potential was immense; it just needed time and opportunity to unlock it.

”Is that so?” Lu Yuan couldn’t help but smile. ”Then, do you know where the next blessed land is?”

A blessed land containing something capable of purifying even the Golden-Winged Great Peng’s mythical bloodline would surely contain something useful to him.

Perhaps it was worth checking out.

”In Shennongjia,” The Golden-Winged Great Peng answered. This came from memories deep in its bloodline.

”Oh?” Lu Yuan raised an eyebrow. What a coincidence. He was planning on visiting Shennongjia later on. Now, he would surely visit Shennongjia. After all, he could visit it whenever he wished now that he had a mount.

”By the way, Master, I forgot to mention something,” said the Golden-Winged Great Peng upon remembering something. ”When I met the White King, it was leading a beast tide to attack a human city to the south.”

A human city south of Qinling? Chang’an? Lu Yuan’s eyes sharpened. Dean Zheng had mentioned an upcoming beast tide. He must’ve been talking about this one.

The White King was a mutated beast king that made even the Golden-Winged Great Peng admit that it wasn’t its match. If the White King reached Chang’an, what would happen then?

There would certainly be a massacre. In fact, Lu Yuan could say for sure, as he had experienced it in his previous life, and it was a horrific tragedy.

As a human being, he couldn’t let that tragedy happen again—not on his watch.

Back then, Lu Yuan had wanted to do something, but he was too weak and needed protection instead.

But now? He had grown strong enough to fight.

”When did they leave?” Lu Yuan asked solemnly.

”The day you went into seclusion. It’s been a few days since then, so I believe they’re about to fight now,” the Golden-Winged Great Peng answered after a moment of thought.

”About to fight? They haven’t started yet? That’s great,” Lu Yuan said. Then, he stood up with a glimmer in his eyes. ”Come with me. We’re going to Chang’an!”
