Global Awakening: I'm the Only One Ready

A rough voice, thick with anger, boomed through the clearing. Its powerful aura washed over the area, making the earth tremble and the winds howl.

Lu Yuan turned toward the sound. Looming among the trees was a massive brown bear, dozens of meters tall. Its eyes burned blood-red, and its fur stood on end like a field of steel needles. Its mountain-like body dwarfed everything around it, and its mere presence was oppressive.

The brown bear was an Unfettered Realm mutated beast, and it was a special one, as it was actually capable of talking.

The ability to speak meant one of two things—the creature had either reached an incredible level of strength or had a powerful bloodline. Such beings were always extraordinary, capable not just of speech, but of human-like thought as well.

The beast king before him had clearly been drawn by the earlier battle. Seeing the Tiger-Leopard King’s corpse and Lu Yuan feasting on its meat, it put two and two together. Its eyes now blazed with fury as a thick killing intent rolled off it in waves.

Ripples of light pulsed from it, turning anything they touched to dust. It was a unique power, much like the Tiger-Leopard King’s flames.

”You can talk?” Lu Yuan’s eyes brightened upon seeing the brown bear. He had just been thinking about needing a guide to save a lot of time, and a guide had just delivered itself before him. His luck truly wasn’t bad at all.

Seeing that Lu Yuan stood frozen, seemingly dumbfounded by its presence, the Brown Bear King’s face twisted, displaying human-like cruelty as well as pride. It had met humans before, and without exception, all had trembled in terror before being slaughtered and devoured.

In the Brown Bear King’s mind, the human before it was strong, but it couldn’t care less about that. The human had murdered the Tiger-Leopard King, a fellow beast king, and its killer had to pay the price.

Just then, astonishment flitted across the Brown Bear King’s eyes. To its shock, the human attacked first.

”ROAR!” the Brown Bear King roared. The blatant display of zero fear infuriated the Brown Bear King. After all, it was one of the three most powerful mutated beast kings in the region.

It unleashed its fury without hesitation and slammed both front paws forward. Its paws were like mountains as it streaked across the air, radiating a faint light. It put its full strength behind the attack. This was a blow powerful enough to topple a hundred-story skyscraper.

Shockingly, Lu Yuan held his ground. The Brown Bear King watched as the human clenched his right fist and swung it upward to meet the descending paws.

”Courting death,” The Brown Bear King’s eyes became even fiercer. In a contest of pure strength, this puny human before it couldn’t possibly defeat it.

When the two finally made contact, however, the Brown Bear King’s face changed drastically. Before it could process anything, the impact came first, transmitted through one of its paws.

The feedback made it feel as though it had slammed its paw on a mountain.

BOOM!

A deafening explosion occurred. The clearing was cleared once more as the earth cracked open and exploded, sending debris skyward. A shadow streaked across the air; it belonged to the Brown Bear King. Its towering figure was blasted away, and a violent tremor ran across the ground as it collapsed.

”Hmm, not bad. I can finally do some exercise,” Lu Yuan remarked with a smile. Then, his legs bent, and he took to the skies before plummeting like a god descending upon the mortal realm.

Oh no! The Brown Bear King was horrified. It could sense the mighty force contained within the puny human’s physique. If the human’s attack were to land, shattered bones would be the least of its injuries—no, its life could be in jeopardy.

Where did this monster even come from? He’s a monster, isn’t he? He couldn’t be human, could he? The Brown Bear King inwardly lampooned before rolling a hundred meters away.

BOOM!

Lu Yuan descended like a falling meteorite, and a cataclysmic explosion ensued. The ground around him lifted briefly before shattering apart in midair and sinking once again.

Lu Yuan wasn’t done yet. He chased after the Brown Bear King at breakneck speeds. In no time, he appeared above the Brown Bear King with a raised palm.

Smack!

The Brown Bear King instantly felt dizzy, and it fell to the ground again. It wanted to stand up, but Lu Yuan stood on its chest with his arms crossed, preventing it from making any great movements.

Moments later, an eleven-tier blood pagoda appeared behind Lu Yuan.

It was crushed!

The ”puny” human had literally crushed it underfoot!

”I’ll give you a chance to live for now. I need to find a mutated beast capable of flight at extreme speeds; it has to be no weaker than you,” Lu Yuan said calmly. To become his mount, a mutated beast had to be strong enough. Otherwise, it would be useless.

”Why should I listen to a mere human?!” the Brown Bear King roared and struggled by pounding its limbs on the ground. The forest shook violently, but no matter how hard it tried, it couldn’t stand up.

It felt as if the entire Qinling was suppressing it.

”You have no choice.” Lu Yuan smiled, applying a slight force with his foot.

CRACK!

A grotesque cracking noise echoed. To make things even more terrifying, the crack had come from its ribs, just directly above its heart. Even the slightest force would surely crush the Brown Bear King’s heart, which would lead to its quick demise.

The Brown Bear King had shattered only five genetic shackles and was far inferior to Lu Yuan. In fact, Lu Yuan was already strong enough to fight a Golden Body Realm expert. Of course, he had to go all-out against them.

”All right, all right, let’s talk it over,” the Brown Bear King hurriedly said upon sensing a real threat to its life. Its eyes as big as basins reflected fear as it gazed at Lu Yuan. It truly hadn’t expected that a tiny and puny human’s physique could contain such inconceivable might!

Its bones were comparable to steel beams, yet Lu Yuan could easily crush them. He was terrifying—too terrifying to fight!

”There’s indeed someone like that among us. It’s a bird with a very powerful bloodline. It’s just five hundred kilometers away to the north,” the Brown Bear King said. It was utterly terrified and dared not play any games.

As for avenging the death of its kind? What was that?

”That’s a bit far,” Lu Yuan pondered. Then, he nodded. ”All right, you’ll be my temporary mount.”

”I am a mighty beast king, and—”

Crunch!

A rib shattered with a clear crunch.

”—and it is only appropriate that I serve as your mount.” The Brown Bear King dared not refuse.

And just like that, Lu Yuan sat comfortably on the mutated beast king’s head. The Brown Bear King became his mount, and it ran north. It moved swiftly, yet it was a comfortable ride. It dared not make sudden movements, as it was afraid to elicit any dissatisfaction from Lu Yuan.

The Brown Bear King was indeed one of the three strongest mutated beast kings in the region, and it was proven by how the mutated beasts along the way dared not approach them.

While Lu Yuan was busy looking for the best mount, the ninth mutated beast king was already being introduced to the people inside a conference room somewhere in Chang’an’s branch of Aurora Academy.

The ninth mutated beast king was called ”Brown Bear King.” It was so strong that it could demolish a skyscraper on its own in short order. If faced with the Brown Bear King, retreat was advised, as it was difficult to kill one-on-one.

Instead, it had to be inundated with multiple missiles. Even then, it could only be suppressed rather than killed.

Dean Zheng and the others fell silent once more. This defense was going to be extremely difficult. Perhaps the upcoming defense against the beast tide was probably the most terrifying beast tide since the Global Awakening.
