Global Awakening: I'm the Only One Ready

Lu Yuan’s voice possessed a chilling stillness, and his tone carried a finality that allowed no argument. A fresh wave of helplessness washed over Ice Fairy. From his earlier, decisive execution of Zhou Biqiong, she knew Lu Yuan possessed a truly unyielding character. A lesser man would have hesitated, but he had moved decisively, even at the cost of offending his former classmate Zhou Yunqiong.

Wang Tao’s greed for Lu Yuan’s sword had led him to mobilize modern weapons of mass destruction, pushing Longevity Genetics and Lu Yuan on a collision course.

Lu Yuan’s desire for revenge was reasonable.

Ice Fairy couldn’t argue against his reasoning, but the problem was that Longevity Genetics was a formidable force. If the situation continued to deteriorate, the matter would surely escalate into a full-blown catastrophe.

She felt compelled to say something more; she wanted to see if she could somehow change his mind.

Just as she parted her lips to speak, the middle-aged man beside her shook his head.

Ice Fairy fell silent, but her face revealed confusion. She couldn’t understand why the middle-aged man had decided to stop her from speaking.

”Lu Yuan!”

Just then, a furious voice thundered from the distance, and another group of several dozen people stormed into view. A formidable figure stood at the helm of the group—one of the Five Supremes, Southern Sovereign.

He approached with extreme speed, and his face was a mask of incomparable coldness as he said, ”Lu Yuan, you killed my brother. That is an act worthy of death!”

The Southern Sovereign had received the news some time ago but had chosen not to set out immediately, opting to mobilize his people first. He knew the terrifying power of that sword. Otherwise, Longevity Genetics’ armed Awakened wouldn’t have failed to stop Lu Yuan.

All of Longevity Genetics’ elite troops in Chang’an stood behind him, and many of them were powerful experts at the Sixth and Seventh Tier of the Foundation Realm.

They all stood before Lu Yuan, and their sharp gazes brimmed with killing intent.

The confrontation quickly drew the attention of the people entering the city, and they gathered around for the fun. The details of what had happened remained unknown to them, but it was clear that Longevity Genetics was ready to attack.

The arrival of the Southern Sovereign himself also told them the gravity of the situation.

A smile tugged at Lu Yuan’s lips. He thought it’d be extremely troublesome hunting his enemies down within the massive city, but he truly hadn’t expected them to deliver themselves right before him.

This was perfect, as it would save him a considerable amount of time. Of course, he was still grateful for the goodwill that Ice Fairy and Polaris Biotech had shown him.

”The Southern Sovereign has reached the Awakened Realm,” said the middle-aged man wearing a suit. He looked solemn at the sight of so many experts.

Among the Five Supremes, the Winged Celestial God and Asura had reportedly decided to enter seclusion. The middle-aged man hadn’t expected that the Southern Sovereign would be the first one to successfully make a breakthrough into the Awakened Realm. It was truly surprising.

”They’ve deployed all their elites... this will not end well,” the Ice Fairy murmured, her face grim. She turned to Lu Yuan, and her voice was filled with resolve as she said, ”Mr. Lu, don’t worry. Polaris Biotech will stand firmly by your side.”

Having made her declaration, she gathered herself and stepped forward to talk to the Southern Sovereign.

”Ice Fairy,” the Southern Sovereign’s voice cut in, sharp and preemptive. ”Though Wang Tao is my stepbrother, he is still a descendant of the Wang Family; our bloodline ran through his veins. His death represents a humiliation to my Longevity Genetics, and it is an unforgivable offense.

”Today, his murderer must die!”

He knew precisely what the Ice Fairy intended to do, and he understood that Polaris Biotech wished to protect Lu Yuan. His words were a direct and forceful counter, meant to crush any of such attempts before they could even be made.

”For killing a member of my Longevity Genetics, I sentence you to death!” the Southern Sovereign declared, his voice laced with thick arrogance as he added, ”Wang Tao’s life... it must be paid for in blood!”

Even if he knew that Wang Tao had brought his death upon himself, it didn’t matter at all. He couldn’t care less about the details and had no need to investigate the truth. Knowing the identity of the culprit was more than enough.

For an outsider to kill someone with the Wang Family’s blood running through their veins was a profound humiliation to the family, and a direct slap to the Southern Sovereign’s face.

He knew he couldn’t give Lu Yuan any time to draw that sword, as it would make things troublesome. Despite becoming an Awakened Realm expert, his power was still unstable.

With that in mind, a swift conclusion was paramount.

Having made up his mind, the Southern Sovereign turned to the crowd and said, ”Those daring enough to obstruct me will be making an enemy of Longevity Genetics. I suggest you think carefully.”

His voice boomed, echoing clearly throughout the city. It was a clear warning for everyone present; he warned them not to meddle. The message was aimed at Polaris Biotech.

Since Longevity Genetics and Polaris Biotech were two of the nation’s major forces, they couldn’t really throw all caution to the wind just to fight each other.

The Southern Sovereign knew that and decided to exploit that fact.

The tense confrontation attracted the attention of more Awakened from many different forces.

”What? He killed Wang Tao of Longevity Genetics?”

”He’s Lu Yuan. Remember that guy who killed so many of those terracotta soldiers outside the Mausoleum? Wait, how did he even manage to offend Longevity Genetics?”

”I don’t know, but we’re about to witness a good show. Lu Yuan’s sword... that was definitely a divine artifact. What do you think? Can the Southern Sovereign defeat that divine artifact?”

”Maybe. They say the Southern Sovereign has already reached the Awakened Realm.”

The spectacle had completely captivated the crowd. Word spread like wildfire, and soon even people from within the city rushed outside to join in on the fun.

”As you can see, I’m not the one looking for trouble now,” Lu Yuan said, looking at the Ice Fairy with a casual smile. ”It appears someone is determined to die at my hands.”

With that, he stepped to the forefront.

”Wait for the right moment,” the middle-aged man murmured, signaling for the Ice Fairy to hold back.”If Mr. Lu is on the brink of being defeated, we’ll go and save him.”

The middle-aged man realized that a battle was inevitable. Upon seeing Lu Yuan’s confidence, however, he realized that there was more than what met the eye.

The Ice Fairy said nothing in response, simply offering a silent nod.

”You’ve decided not to hide behind a woman—I’ll grant you a sliver of respect for that,” the Southern Sovereign said, his eyes narrowing into slits. ”But even so, you must die.”

”Kill him!” he roared.

When his words fell, the elites from Longevity Genetics surged forward without any hesitation. They were a formidable force, and each one of them was at least a Foundation Realm V expert. The majority of them had also cultivated an ancient martial art along with its specific visualization method and breathing techniques, making them far stronger than any ordinary Awakened.

”You talk a lot of crap,” Lu Yuan remarked. His patience had finally worn thin. He took a single step forward, and his dormant aura surged violently. He had come here today with the goal of committing a massacre. He possessed absolutely no desire to waste any more time on idle talk.

In the very next instant, he appeared in the midst of the Longevity Genetics’ elites. His speed was so phenomenal that, before anyone could even react, they were already being crushed by his overwhelming aura.

The faces of the Ice Fairy and the middle-aged man changed drastically.

Lu Yuan hadn’t even drawn his sword, but the scene that followed afterward left them utterly dumbfounded with a shattered worldview

Lu Yuan remained motionless, not even raising a hand as the faint image of the Eleven-Tier Blood Pagoda appeared, resonating deeply with him.

Rumble!

Everyone felt an indescribable pressure descend upon them, and it was so terrifying that their very blood felt as if it were curdling within them.

The Longevity Genetics’ elites, despite their formidable strength, could offer no resistance whatsoever. Their bodies burst open, and their bones shattered as they were violently slammed into the ground.

In a flash, they were dead.

The Southern Sovereign was sent flying away before he could even process what was happening. Just as the pagoda was about to take his life, a barrier rushed out of him, taking the brunt of the attack.

Even so, the attack left him severely injured. He couldn’t even display his strength as an Awakened Realm expert.

”W-what just happened?!”

”They’re dead in one strike? N-no way!”

The crowd was left completely stunned. The attack happened so quickly that many wondered if their eyes had deceived them, but the grisly aftermath was undeniably real.

”E-even without his sword, he’s that powerful?”

The Ice Fairy was visibly shaken, and her face turned pale. The terrifying power wasn’t directed at her, but she still felt a boundless, suffocating pressure.

The middle-aged man beside her looked even more shocked. Too strong. He’s terrifyingly strong.

”Hmm?”
