Global Awakening: I'm the Only One Ready

Chapter 59. Walking Into No Man’s Land, Recruited by the Ice Fairy (1)

In addition, the two had similar figures and demeanor. They also had that same powerful presence. In other words, it wasn’t strange for Zhu Qingyu to entertain such an idea.

Zhu Qingyu’s gut feeling was telling her something, but her heart was telling her that it was impossible. First of all, that mysterious figure was an archer. Lightning crackled around him, making him appear like the god of lightning.

In comparison, Lu Yuan wielded a sword, and there was a high chance that his display of power was all due to the sword’s might. It was starkly different compared to that mysterious figure.

I might just be overthinking this, Zhu Qingyu thought, frowning.

Regardless, Lu Yuan was indeed powerful. The might contained within his sword was absolutely terrifying—no, even soul-shaking.

In fact, Zhu Qingyu wasn’t alone. Nearly all the Awakened at the foot of Mount Li thought the same; Lu Yuan’s sword strike had filled their hearts with a shock too profound to comprehend in a short period of time.

Tens of thousands of terracotta soldiers were obliterated by just one sword strike.

A lone sword strike had exceeded the combined effort of the Five Supremes by more than tenfold at that!

In other words, Lu Yuan’s strength surpassed the Five Supremes, and it was all thanks to that sword.

For a moment, every gaze fixed on Lu Yuan, and everyone was filled with reverence and envy; reverence for his strength, and envy for his sword.

Some even showed greed, but that was all, as they dared not make a move.

The reason they refrained from doing anything was simple. What would happen to them if they were to act unwisely? Lu Yuan had destroyed tens of thousands of terracotta soldiers with just one sword strike.

Could they possibly withstand that kind of power? Of course, the answer was a resounding no.

The Great Luo Sword Embryo is indeed impressive. I didn’t infuse even a trace of my power into it, but it’s already so strong. Unfortunately, it seems that I have yet to obtain enough of that special substance, Lu Yuan thought, walking forward.

As the sword embryo’s master, he sensed that the sword embryo had absorbed quite a bit of that special substance from those terracotta soldiers. However, it wasn’t enough to make the sword embryo evolve.

He needed just a bit more, and if he wanted to obtain more. There was only one way to go—destroy more of those terracotta soldiers.

With that in mind, Lu Yuan suddenly came to a halt. He turned to look at the remaining terracotta soldiers and raised the sword in his hand up high.

He knew everyone present would be stupefied by the sword embryo’s might, and it would surely awaken the greed in some people’s hearts, but so what?

He wasn’t afraid, and there was no need for him to worry about anyone.

”Wait, he’s going to keep attacking!”

”Oh no, retreat! We can’t stay here any longer!”

”If that attack hits us, we’re definitely going to die!”

The Awakened were greatly alarmed to see Lu Yuan turning around, and they retreated frantically from the battlefield. Lu Yuan’s sword attack had left an indelible mark on their minds.

Realizing that he was about to swing his sword again to obliterate the rest of the terracotta soldiers, the Awakened on the battlefield immediately panicked. They absolutely couldn’t withstand Lu Yuan’s sword strike, so they hurriedly withdrew from the battlefield.

The Northern Emperor, Ice Fairy, Asura, and the others exchanged glances. Then, they chose to retreat temporarily. There was no helping it. Lu Yuan’s attack was too powerful and dangerous.

In fact, they believed that they would suffer severe injuries if they were to attempt to withstand it. Indeed, despite their special bloodline and strength, they would suffer greatly beneath that sword strike.

In addition, allowing Lu Yuan to destroy the terracotta soldiers would save them a great deal of trouble.

The Southern Sovereign briefly hesitated as his gaze fell on the Great Luo Sword Embryo in Lu Yuan’s hand. Eventually, he dismissed his thoughts and retreated along with the others.

However, the Winged Celestial God stood his ground. Pride kept him from retreating. Lu Yuan had already suppressed him twice. With his pride badly wounded, he refused to yield once again.

”Yi,” Zhou Yunqiong said. Her tone of voice was solemn, indicating that she wanted the Winged Celestial God to retreat. At the same time, she looked at Lu Yuan with an incomparably solemn gaze.

All along, she had believed that he would be an ordinary person and that they wouldn’t exist in the same world. Eventually, she would completely forget Lu Yuan, but she was mistaken.

Lu Yuan had appeared time and time again. Whenever he appeared, he would shatter her understanding of the world, solidifying Zhou Yunqiong’s opinion of him.

Zhou Yunqiong stood unmoving, contemplating something. Could it be that she had truly misjudged him?

The Winged Celestial God hesitated briefly but eventually withdrew, returning to Zhou Yunqiong’s side. Her words carried weight, enough to make even him comply.

After leaving the battlefield, he turned to her and asked sharply, ”Why?”

”Legend says entering the Mausoleum in Mount Li requires passing many trials,” Zhou Yunqiong replied lightly. ”Those terracotta soldiers should only be the first of the tomb’s many trials.”

As a core figure of the Wuzhou Group, she knew a lot. In fact, Skygod Technologies, Longevity Genetics, and the other major forces had done their research on the Mausoleum.

The terracotta soldiers were just the first trial, and there was bound to be more trials up ahead. It was better to preserve some strength and make plans once they were actually inside the tomb.

Lu Yuan watched as the Awakened withdrew. Soon, he was alone, standing tall and proud among the thousands of terracotta soldiers.

The sword embryo in his hand trembled, and strands of sword light rushed out of it as the sword embryo’s sword intent manifested.

Since the Awakened had evacuated the battlefield, the terracotta soldiers all turned their weapons toward Lu Yuan.

Although they appeared human, they were actually inanimate objects, so they could only identify intruders within a certain distance from them. After all, their goal was to protect the Mausoleum from invaders.

A terracotta general stood at the helm of the army, and they all faced Lu Yuan.

”If that’s what you want, I’ll satisfy you, then,” Lu Yuan remarked. The sight made him feel not even a trace of nervousness. In fact, he was feeling excited. In his eyes, these terracotta soldiers were nutrients for the Great Luo Sword Embryo’s evolution!

Without another word, Lu Yuan made his move. This time, he didn’t unleash the sword embryo’s might but deliberately restrained it. He wanted to feel the process of the sword embryo absorbing that special substance, so he could make a split-second decision to intervene when necessary.

More importantly, the sword embryo’s evolution was reminiscent of the evolution of living things.

Others wouldn’t be able to sense it, but Lu Yuan had fused with the Bodhi Tree. Thanks to his billionfold talent blessing, he could feel that the evolution of the sword embryo would be beneficial to him as well.

Strands of sword lights streamed from the sword embryo, engulfing him. As time went on, the number of terracotta soldiers on the battlefield decreased. Finally, only a third of their original numbers remained.

The sword embryo stirred, seemingly trying to say that it was full.

Unfortunately, there’s not enough time. Otherwise, I could definitely shatter the fifth shackle. Lu Yuan shook his head, feeling somewhat regretful.

Of course, he had an inkling that another breakthrough wouldn’t take long.

Not far away, everyone stared at Lu Yuan. Some cast gazes of admiration toward him, some were stupefied, while others were secretly infuriated. Lu Yuan’s performance had clearly become everyone’s focus; he was impossible to ignore.

After all, he was just one person, but he was moving freely among thousands of terracotta soldiers. Even more amazing was the fact that each terracotta soldier he touched would explode without being able to resist him.

The commanders among the terracotta soldiers were no exception, even though the Awakened struggled a lot just to take down one of them.

Despite knowing their miserable fate, the terracotta soldiers charged at Lu Yuan without stopping.

They assumed formations, and their footsteps made the earth tremble as they moved at once toward Lu Yuan.

If anyone else were in Lu Yuan’s shoes, their head would surely hurt at the sight, and they would have to fight bitterly to survive.

What about Lu Yuan? He walked through the soldiers, shrouded by the Great Luo Sword Embryo’s threads of sword light. He was strolling leisurely as if he were in his own backyard.

His face remained indifferent as he walked into no man’s land.

When the sword embryo absorbed a certain amount of that special substance, it changed. It’s like it has absorbed enough of Heaven-Earth Spiritual Energy, which is necessary for the evolution of all living things, Lu Yuan thought, gaining insight into the sword embryo’s changes.

Heaven-Earth Spiritual Energy was the official name of the mysterious energy that appeared after the Global Awakening. The fifth shackle within Lu Yuan loosened up as soon as he was enlightened to the changes happening to the sword embryo.

His extreme talent meant he could easily see through everything.

In his sea of consciousness, there was a golden figure sitting beneath the Bodhi Tree. The figure was engulfed in light, looking quite extraordinary.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

Muffled bangs echoed as Lu Yuan disintegrated a terracotta soldier. Was this the might of a divine artifact? From beginning to end, Lu Yuan never let go of his sword, so everyone deduced that his sword was a terrifying divine artifact.

Those from Skygod Technologies, Polaris Biotech, and the other major forces reached the same conclusion.

It had to be known that these forces were old and had deep roots. In other words, they possessed many divine artifacts passed down from their ancestors. Despite that, Lu Yuan’s sword still filled their hearts with shock.

”Huh? Those things aren’t coming back to life anymore!” someone exclaimed.

”Wait, they’ve stopped attacking, too.” Someone pointed out.

Upon hearing their cries, numerous gazes looked over, and they were shocked.

”What’s going on?”
