Chapter 141 – 127: Could it have just been switched? (Two in one large chapter)

At that moment, Lord Reine noticed that after the battle with Andrews, combined with previous experiences against “Karawi,” “Fog Specters,” and others, the Giant Bear Sword Technique had now reached lv5 (1988/2000).

Only one step away, he could enter the gates of lv6.

So, when Jenny came down from the carriage, her face full of worry, and hurried over with her long dress in both hands, what she saw was Lord Reine, who had been covered in sweat and contorted in pain, suddenly stand up with a look of joy, brimming with vigour.

It completely stunned Jenny!

“Lo… Lord Reine, are you all right?” Jenny stammered, still unable to recover from her shock.

“Eh! Miss Jenny, what brings you here?” Reine asked in surprise.

Could it be that the Crowley family was also involved in this matter?

After the recent ambush, Lord Reine’s vigilance was exceptionally high.

“I… I came to bring Lord Reine…”

“Wait! ” Lord Reine gave a shushing gesture and said. Find more to read at m_v l|-NovelFire

Because at that moment, he heard more cries of alarm coming from within Flashgold Town.

The noise was loud and seemed further away, but with Lord Reine’s perception, he could still faintly make out the screams and shouts of a crowd.

It seemed that the Blackflame Church had not only sent Andrews.

And from the looks of it, their goal was not merely to kill him, but something bigger.

The purpose of the Blackflame Church’s action this time was probably anything but simple.

Lord Reine glanced at the corpse of Andrews beside him; the body, as evidence, couldn’t be left exposed to the elements, and the battle loot had yet to be claimed.

After a moment’s thought, Lord Reine turned to Jenny and said, “Miss Jenny, could you collect my battle loot for me?”

“Ah? Battle loot?” Jenny was momentarily astonished, failing to grasp his meaning until Lord Reine pointed towards the unfamiliar knight’s corpse, then she understood what he meant.

“I need to investigate the situation in town right now.”

As he spoke, Lord Reine was about to head back to the town, but after taking a couple of steps, he turned back and cautioned:

“By the way, Miss Jenny, you should leave Flashgold Town as soon as possible.”

At that time, Jenny was staring at the gruesome corpse nearby, lost in thought.

How… how should this be dealt with?

It was only at Lord Reine’s reminder that she came to her senses, hurriedly responding:

“Yes… of course, Lord Reine!”

Just then, two cavalrymen were swiftly approaching from the direction of Flashgold Town.

Lord Reine’s eyes narrowed at once, and he gripped the Glimmering Greatsword in both hands, readying himself for combat.

“Wait… Lord Reine, those two look like my escort cavalry.” Jenny was startled when she saw Reine draw his sword.

“Oh?” Even though Jenny said this, Lord Reine remained on guard.

After all, if he didn’t learn from his previous experience, it would eventually be his doom.

After the two cavalrymen arrived, they swiftly saluted Jenny and urgently reported, “Miss Jenny, the Flashgold Town church has been attacked, and the town’s guard forces are weak. We advise you to leave Flashgold Town immediately.”

“The church?” Lord Reine’s pupils contracted slightly, and he quickly made a connection.

Today was Sunday, and there would be at least a hundred or two people in the church, Lord Reine,

Andrews… the Blackflame Church?

Could it be that the Blackflame Church was intending to perform a blood sacrifice in Flashgold Town?

Because during his training as a page, Lord Reine had heard about the cult sacrifice incident in Monheim Town.

After becoming the Captain of the Night Watchman, Lord Reine even went to check the relevant records; the truth was more gruesome than the rumors, with over a hundred people dead in Monheim Town at once.

The official response of the Empire to conclude the matter was to blame seven or eight bandits, but Lord Reine knew it was a stopgap measure by County Town to quickly calm the public’s unrest and to downplay the incident.

Now thinking about it, it was most likely also the handiwork of the Blackflame Church!

“Cough… I won’t leave, he is Lord Reine, the Deputy Sheriff of Flashgold Town. You two arrived at the right time, help the Lord with collecting the battle loot,” Jenny quickly assessed the situation and then declined the cavalrymen’s suggestion.

Jenny was very clear in her thoughts.

Although staying in Flashgold Town was dangerous, this was an excellent opportunity to strengthen her bond with Lord Reine.

“Battle loot?” The two cavalrymen took a look around and immediately saw the bloody heap, jumping in fright.

“This was a rogue of senior knight strength, already slain by Lord Reine. We’ll just follow Lord Reine and assist with collecting the battle loot,” Jenny said.

Senior knight?

Was that bloody mass a senior knight?

This made the two cavalrymen look again, finding indeed a plate-armored knight. They exchanged glances and saw the shock in each other’s eyes.

In that case, there really was no need to retreat just yet.

“Yes, Miss Jenny,” the two cavalrymen immediately jumped off their horses, filled with confidence, and began the collection.

Lord Reine glanced at Jenny, somewhat surprised that the noble lady had such courage and so much confidence in him.

He nodded at Jenny and said, “I’ll go first, you can follow behind at your own pace. If something doesn’t feel right, leave immediately without hesitation.”

“Of course, Lord Reine,” Jenny replied with a pleased look, spotting that look of acknowledgment from Reine, and quickly nodded in agreement.

At once, Lord Reine dashed towards Flashgold Town, while occasionally glancing at the Knight (Transcendent) panel.
