Wizard starting from shoeing donkeys

Chapter 113 – 106 Motionless

Just as Rein was about to leave, he remembered that the other party used a heavy hammer, and then it seemed like he thought of something. He approached the two halves of the hammer man’s corpse and began to search.

Soon, in addition to a bag of not-so-heavy coins, Rein also found a thin booklet.

It made Rein pause and wonder to himself why all the people he encountered recently loved to keep diaries?

Upon opening it, he realized he had misunderstood the hammer man. The other party was actually a serious researcher of hammer techniques.

This booklet in his hand was a detailed record of what the hammer man had learned when he was young from a hammer skill master named Tokkal. It was titled “The Fundamentals of Tokkal’s Hammer Skill”.

Rein nodded to himself in approval. Having gained something valuable after the ‘hard work’ of killing an enemy naturally filled him with joy.

“I have the core skill ‘Hammer Mastery,’ but it has been idle all this time because I didn’t have the right hammer technique to go with it. Finally, I’ve encountered a combat skill regarding hammer techniques! Good!”

But glancing at the other party’s heavy hammer, which he had chopped in half, the corners of Rein’s mouth twitched as he shook his head helplessly.

What a pity!

After securing the booklet and the bag of coins, Rein felt his muscles starting to ache, a clear sign of the ‘aftereffect’ of going all out.

However, he had reserved attribute points for moments like this.

After some thought, Rein added one point to his Constitution, bringing it up to 13 points, making it his strongest attribute.

In an instant, Rein felt the soreness and aching throughout his body disappear!

His entire body’s condition adjusted to an optimal state.

Rein, now full of spirit, quickly caught up with the other Night Watchmen.

He saw Matteo and his fellow Night Watchmen hanging far behind the enemy caravan, not rashly launching an attack.

It seemed that the enemy had not gone too far, either trusting in the strength of their ‘hammer man’ or for some other reason.

This, however, saved Rein the effort of tracking.

Rein’s appearance was like an injection of adrenaline for Matteo and the others.

“Taken care of?” The astonishment in the eyes of Matteo and the other Night Watchmen was hard to conceal.

They knew how strong the hammer man was.

He was dealt with by Rein so quickly?

They had just left, and Rein had arrived right after, that…. must have been only about a minute’s difference!

The hammer man, such a formidable figure, was taken down by Rein?

The elite Night Watchmen found their heads struggling to wrap around this idea.

In fact, if they had known that Rein took merely ten seconds to kill the hammer man and spent a full fifty seconds cleaning up the battlefield, one could only wonder what they would think….

“Cough… The other party wasn’t as strong as you imagined. Although he had the strength of a Knight-in-training, his heavy hammer was too slow, which allowed me to catch a flaw in an instant and win with one strike,” Rein said, noticing the burning gaze of the others and feeling it was necessary to provide an explanation.

Thinking it over, everyone found it made sense!

Rein was relatively smaller and naturally more agile. If he could seize a moment when the other party’s hammer swing was slow during a sequence, a one-strike kill was indeed possible.

But the seven men on the other side, seeing Rein actually catch up and their leader did not, had expressions like they had seen a ghost, greatly shocked in their hearts!

They looked at each other for a long while, the scene falling into silence.

“You’re saying the boss…,” the chain hammer man squeezed out a sentence from his throat.

No one answered…

The answer was obvious.

“Damn it! How is this possible!” The chain hammer man slammed his heavy chain hammer onto the ground and cursed.

They were, of course, well aware of their boss ‘Hammer’ Kels’s strength. Even within the Brotherhood of the Wilderness, he ranked high in power. But the boss hadn’t returned, and that short guy had.

What this implied was clear without words.

The men exchanged glances, each seeing the gravity in the other’s eyes.

And so the two wagons came to a halt.

They knew if they didn’t deal with this group of Night Watchmen and that fellow, they probably wouldn’t be able to escape.

“That guy in plate armor is a bit odd. First, we’ll deal with those black-skinned dogs, then all of us will go together and avenge our boss!” the burly man wielding a curved sword said.

“Okay, I’ll hold him off first. You guys attack from both sides later. Once the black-skinned dogs are down, we’ll surround and kill him,” the sword-and-shield man thought for a moment and then nodded in agreement.

After speaking, the sword-and-shield man turned to the only man with a large bow among them: “Zago, you’re in charge of suppressing those black-skinned dogs with arrows. Watch for the right moment to support us.”

Aside from the sword-and-shield man and the chain hammer man, the rest were in chain armor. Facing the elite arrows of the Night Watchmen, they could not completely ignore them.

“Got it!”

Meanwhile, Rein and Matteo and the rest saw the enemy suddenly stop and immediately became vigilant, observing the other party closely.

The opponents had two men in plate armor who looked to be Knight-in-training, one with sword and shield and the other with a heavy chain hammer.

The four others were wearing chainmail, each one wielding a single-handed hammer, single-handed axe, curved sword, and bastard sword respectively.

The last one was clad in leather armor, holding a bow and watching them.

There were a total of seven men.

Clearly, aside from one ranged fighter, the other six were melee combatants.

After considering for a moment, Rein turned to Matteo and said, “I’ll advance and draw their attention. Unless something unexpected happens, except for that archer, they’ll probably all come to surround me. When they do, you take the chance to save the children.”

“Oh, and by the way, take down that archer!”

Before Matteo and the others could voice their dissent, Rein walked slowly forward.

Indescribable poise and confidence!

But it also gave the other Night Watchmen an inexplicable sense of trust.

“Bah! Damn it, I don’t believe he can actually kill the boss. I’ll shoot him with an arrow first!” the opposing archer spat on the ground and watched with indignation as Rein approached with ease.

He intended to shoot an arrow at Rein’s unarmored arm, but the sword-shield man stopped him.

“Don’t!” the sword-shield man raised his hand.

Because the sword-shield man knew that if they were the first to shoot an arrow, the Night Watchmen with over twenty bows would surely retaliate, and four of their own, clad in chain mail, could not entirely avoid injury from the arrows.

In that case, their own situation would become even less advantageous.

“If the enemy dares to come forward alone, it’s naturally to draw us away from the wagon and engage in close combat, probably to rescue the kids on the wagon.”

The sword-shield man quickly realized why Rein had come up alone.

This was a brazen and obvious strategy!

However, since he could defeat Kev and was so confident, wasn’t it fair for their six to fight one?

Could it be that they should follow the rules of knightly duels and queue up to fight him one by one?

What a joke!

Moreover, he truly didn’t believe that one person could win against their six.

Under the lead of the sword-shield man, the hammer man and the other chain mail-wearing men followed closely behind, quickly forming a semicircular formation to surround Rein.

The scene before them was indeed as Rein had predicted, but it also caused the elite Night Watchmen to worry.

“This… Could Rein be taking on too much?” an elite Night Watchman furrowed his brow upon seeing Rein’s situation, about to fight six on one.

“Yeah! Those two in plate armor must be Squires!”

“The other four are probably Level 3 Knight Attendants…”

“Good heavens! By the Goddess above, can Rein really do this?”

“….”

The Night Watchmen began to worry en masse!

“I believe in Rein!” Matteo, however, had an inexplicable confidence in Rein.

“Should we interfere with those wearing chain mail?” someone asked.

“Not for now, stick to the plan. We’ll keep an eye on their archer and see if there is a chance to save the children.”

Although Rein was now surrounded by the enemy, he didn’t see it that way from the center of the arena.

The present formation of the six men who had him completely encircled was ideal for unleashing his ‘roaring strike.’

In other words, even if the six were mere scarecrows at his disposal to position as he pleased, Rein could not have arranged a more suitable formation himself.

“If I don’t give them a good shout, even the Goddess might not stand for it…”

“Just right, I’ve never tried out my Level 2 ‘roaring strike.ʼ”

The sword-shield man saw the Night Watchmen seemed to be slowly moving towards the two wagons and instantly revealed a fierce and ruthless expression.

They could delay no longer—further delay meant that even if they won against this fellow, if the kids were rescued, they would still be unable to face Lord Morte!

“Attack!”

Thereupon, he immediately signaled the others to launch their attack!

But the sword-shield man himself was cautious, guarding with his shield in the forefront, his right hand wielding the longsword and thrusting it towards Rein.

Almost simultaneously.

The hammer man raised his hammer high, his face twisted with ferocity, his eyes fixed on Rein’s knight helmet as he exerted all his strength to bring the hammer down forcefully.

If he connected, he was confident he could shatter even a plate helm with one strike.

The axe man aimed for the gap where Rein’s helmet met his plate armor, swiftly delivering a chopping blow, intent on decapitating Rein.

The bastard sword-wielding man was the most ruthless. He too thrust with his sword, aiming for the cross-shaped gap in Rein’s visor in a bid to blind him and penetrate his brain for a sure kill.

The curved blade man targeted Rein’s unprotected arm, planning to sever Rein’s right arm first.

To their horror, they realized that the man in front of them, who was half a head shorter, suddenly emitted a thick sense of danger, sounding the alarm for all of them inwardly!

This sensation was as if they were facing…

A long-dormant volcano suddenly erupting!

A giant dragon abruptly awakening from its slumber!

They saw his chest dramatically swell, the knight’s breastplate that was slightly loose now seemed ready to burst, his neck muscles and veins bulged, enlarging by an entire size.

The six immediately sensed trouble!

“Roar!!!”

A roar, resembling that of a giant dragon, resounded in the ears of the six men!

Instantly, the six men remained in their attacking stances, weapons in hand, but frozen in place!

As if struck by lightning!

Time seemed to stand still!
