Chapter 133 – 123 The Secret of the Book

As Reine grew closer, it seemed the person inside the carriage had also seen him.

Just as Reine approached, the door of the carriage swung open, and a young, slender noblewoman stepped out, dressed in a white gown—it was Jenny.

“Lord Reine, we have been waiting for you; Miss Jenny waited almost an hour,” said the butler, introducing her.

“Lord Reine, I have brought the books you asked me to find,” Jenny said as she handed over two thick volumes.

“Uh….” This suddenly made Reine a bit embarrassed.

She had waited so long just so he could receive the books as quickly as possible.

Although, Reine knew there was an intention to curry favor on her part.

But respecting another person, that feeling was indeed lovely!

Reine bowed slightly, saying, “Miss Jenny, thank you very much!”

“Giggle, Lord Reine, you are too kind. As the Guardian Knight of our family, it’s the least I can do,” Jenny said with a light laugh, covering her mouth.

After a moment’s thought, Reine added, “That… if you ever find yourself in trouble one day, please send someone to notify me; perhaps I can be of some small help.”

“Lord Reine, I truly appreciate that! It’s getting late now, so I won’t disturb you any further, but if you need anything in the future, feel free to contact me.”

Clearly, Reine’s current demeanor made Jenny feel the hour’s wait had been worthwhile.

Her purpose in coming was to ingratiate herself with Reine, a knight of emerging potential.

Now, having Reine say such a sentence to her was already a sort of tacit promise.

“Alright, Miss Jenny, goodbye!” Reine waved his hand and said with a smile.

What he didn’t notice at that moment was that four pairs of big eyes were watching his brief exchange with Jenny: Anna and Lagaray through the door crack, Bo He through the doghole named ‘Biscuit’, and his mother Emma through the kitchen window.

When Reine returned home and entered the door, he found several people looking at him with various expressions.

This suddenly startled Reine.

Children can hardly keep secrets, and hearing Bo He flutter his big eyes asking, “Brother, who is that beautiful lady who came down from the carriage?”

The moment Bo He spoke, the others’ gazes converged on Reine.

This immediately gave Reine a feeling, as if it were greater pressure than facing a mist wraith!

…

After dinner.

Reine, who had hurriedly retreated to his own room, eagerly began to read through the two books Jenny had brought him.

Soon, Reine discovered that ‘Spirit’ was formally called Akkadian, a language passed down from ancient times containing magical powers. However, its complex pronunciation and throat vibrations made it extremely difficult to learn.

However, his spiritual power had reached 12 points, greatly improving his learning efficiency. Quickly, through studying with the help of the two books, Reine had already grasped the meanings of dozens of simple Akkadian vocabulary words.

As for pronunciation, he had not mastered it.

Thinking things over, Reine somewhat impatiently reached under the bed and pulled out the ‘Beast Taming Diary’ with a silver cover.

Sure enough, among the previously unintelligible text, there were a few words Reine could now understand.

“…The leaping spirit of the elements…”

“…Secret fire servant…”

Just as Reine was heartily engrossed, a gentle knock on the door sounded.

“Knock! Knock! Knock!”

From that knock, Reine already knew who it was.

“Come in!” Reine closed the book with the silver cover.

Anna stood shyly at the door, seemingly noticing Reine was reading, and thus asked, “Reine, may I come in?”

“Of course,” Reine said, rising to his feet with a smile.

The ‘Beast Taming Diary,’ with its silver cover and jewel-encrusted design, immediately caught Anna’s attention.

“Oh! What a beautiful book. Reine, may I take a look?” Anna glanced at the book in silver, then at Reine, and asked.

“Of course you may.”

Reine certainly wouldn’t object to Anna flipping through it, as he was already studying Akkadian. Perhaps, someday, he might understand the spells but be unable to cast them, and need Anna to give it a try.

The wooden amulet was a perfect example.

The wooden amulet had no reaction when Reine touched it, but Anna could perform some kind of miraculous healing witchcraft upon contact.

As Anna took the book in silver and leaned against the window, just as she was about to flip through it, suddenly, something peculiar happened with the book.

“Reine? The pattern on the cover is moving,” Anna said, looking up at Reine, slightly frightened.

“What?” Reine narrowed his eyes and quickly stepped forward.

Soon, Reine saw that it might have been the moonlight shining on the ‘Beast Taming Diary’ from outside that caused it.

On the surface of the silver cover, the largest sapphire, ruby, and turquoise seemed to have absorbed some of the moonlight, and at that moment, their glow was shifting, undergoing some magical change.

The three gemstones shone brilliantly, then a bright but not blinding beam of light connected the three gems.

At that moment, the pattern on the silver cover also dynamically changed.

The engraved bear, the patterns, and the veins of the leaves all shifted, the bear walked away, and the flower and leaves dispersed around, leaving the middle of the cover suddenly revealing a round water well filled with water.
