Demon King: Hero, don’t run away!

A shield with shape-shifting abilities? It can automatically adapt to the characteristics of its user?

Typically, equipment that grows is weak initially, but becomes extraordinarily strong later.

Might I have stumbled upon a treasure?

Although Yang Yu couldn’t be completely certain he had found a treasure, as long as the shield had one or two usable forms, it was enough for Yang Yu to break even.

It’s a pity that the initial egg form was too weak, its attributes couldn’t match some rare equipment.

To unlock the larva form, one must wield the shield in battle...

Perhaps, I could use this shield as a weapon, since most of Yang Yu’s skills are status-related and don’t heavily rely on swords.

If Yang Yu wanted, he could even knock out monsters with a single slap.

Perhaps treating the shield as a brick to smash monsters might increase its battle points more quickly, allowing it to enter the larva form sooner.

After contemplating for a moment, Yang Yu eventually gave up on the idea of using the new shield to kill enemies as if it were a brick.

If he mistakenly caused the shield to become useless due to convenience, it would mean starting over from scratch.

Gushan shyly laughed as he rubbed his shiny head:

”This shield didn’t originally look like this. When we first obtained it from the underground maze, it was slightly larger than a regular shield.

But for some reason, it kept getting smaller and smaller, until it became like this.

Maybe it felt lonely because nobody used it in battle.

There’s not much that can be done, besides me, no one else in the team uses a shield.

I’ve had a deep bond with the shield I’m using.

I’ll be retiring soon, and it’s unnecessary to replace it with a new shield now.

I don’t know how to revert it back to that form, but I feel you might have a way to do it?”

Yang Yu grinned, half-jokingly saying: ”I’ll try using it for a while, and fiddle around with it. If I manage to turn this thing into a one-of-a-kind treasure, don’t think you can reclaim the shield just because your ranking is higher.”

Corola puffed her cheeks, looking displeased, ”We wouldn’t do what you just suggested.

Even if we were to take it back, there’d be a fair trade involved.

You make us sound like we’re bad people.

This world has its rules. If you act recklessly just because you have power, you’ll become a public enemy.

Good deeds attract many helpers, while bad deeds have few allies.

We certainly don’t want to be shunned by others.”

Luo Bei Jike held his head, making snide comments on the side: ”Despite both being S-Class adventure groups, the difference in concept is clear. Your intention is to explore the underground maze, while ours differ. That’s why you’re considering these issues.”

Glantham Mac drooped his head and sighed: ”Luo Bei, I have told you before, don’t become too arrogant and say things that are offensive to others.”

”I didn’t say offensive things, I’m just stating facts.”

After a moment of silence, Glantham Mac gave Luo Bei a strong slap on the back.

Luo Bei Jike almost fell face-first into the mud, but thanks to his ability to use Wind Magic, he managed to stabilize himself, turning his head and glaring resentfully at his team leader, as if saying, ”I’m a member of [Dragon God’s Might], leader, why are you siding with outsiders?”

Glantham Mac shot a glance at Luo Bei Jike, bowed his head, and apologized to Yang Yu and his companions: ”I apologize for that kid’s slip of the tongue.

I heard some rumors about you while the adventurer’s guild gathered intelligence.

I know you’re doing what you can in your own capacity.

It’s your decision and your freedom, we have no right to interfere.

However, since we met here by chance, I’d like to invite you to join forces with us against the Evil Dragon that suddenly disappeared that day.

We’ve gathered quite a number of people and searched in various places for traces of the Evil Dragon, but haven’t found any in most of Hero Lox’s mazes.

That’s why we came here.

You people probably have a better understanding than us of the Evil Dragon’s power.

Even though we’ve enlisted the help of two reclusive experts on our side, merely by ourselves, dealing with the Goblin Emperor seems somewhat challenging...

Could you join us in the underground maze to find the Goblin Emperor?”

Glantham Mac reached out his hand to Yang Yu.

Faced with Glantham Mac’s invitation, Yang Yu hesitated.

Combining forces with [Dragon God’s Might] and [Red Blood Rose] to explore the underground maze guarantees efficiency.

But, if the Goblin Emperor isn’t within the maze, it means losing quite a bit of experience and loot.

Moreover, despite [Dragon God’s Might] and [Red Blood Rose] being experienced S-Class adventure groups, the more people involved, the harder it becomes to coordinate, especially in situations where the skill levels aren’t starkly different.

Glantham Mac being the leader of the top-ranked adventure group, many of his demands or ideas might differ from Yang Yu’s, and if Glantham Mac insists, Yang Yu would struggle to do anything about it.

Ultimately, it’s because Yang Yu hasn’t collaborated much with [Dragon God’s Might] before, causing him to have reservations about it now.

If they had previously worked on some projects together, Yang Yu might’ve discerned from these minor details what kind of group [Dragon God’s Might] is.

But now…

This is Hero Lox’s underground maze.

Instead of entrusting his fate to unfamiliar individuals, Yang Yu prefers to firmly grasp his own destiny.

”It’s a good proposal.

But you saw the scene through the box too.

The size of that Array is limited.

So, that’s why you’ve prepared this many people.

Add two or three people from your side, and that’s the maximum the Array can support.

We’ve already exceeded three people on our side, let alone including the sizable Silver Wolf.

You might say people can float in the air, standing above the Array.

But now, no one can confirm the box’s effects.

Those who fly up may end up left behind.

I believe Hero Lox wouldn’t just let a large group explore his underground maze.

Which is why the Teleportation Array is that size.

We cannot rule out the possibility that different boxes could transport us to different mazes.

Let us first try to see if we can enter the same Hero Lox’s maze.

If it’s the same maze, and we encounter each other and face the Evil Dragon, then it’s not too late to cooperate.”

Yang Yu swung his arm, and shook hands with Glantham Mac’s large palm.

Glantham Mac smiled, ”I hadn’t considered this scenario you mentioned. But it should indeed be the approach. Let’s see if we end up in the same underground maze.

If you encounter the Evil Dragon on your side, find a way to contact us.

If we face any unmanageable situations, we’ll also make efforts to reach out to you, hoping you could assist us then.”

”Deal.” Yang Yu smiled.
