Demon King: Hero, don’t run away!

After successfully obtaining the help of the Goddess Sect, Yang Yu found the Giant Umbrella Chamber of Commerce and reached a trade agreement with them, handing over a portion of the spoils from the attack on the for their disposal.

Having dealt with all the miscellaneous matters, Yang Yu and his group finally arrived at the stronghold of .

The stronghold of is situated above a massive Underground Maze.

Thanks to the mechanism of the Underground Maze, which continuously refreshes monsters, amassed considerable wealth in its early days, allowing it to establish a thriving city sprout to aid spiritual ability users who were discriminated against and displaced.

Since more than half of the city’s inhabitants are spiritual ability users or related to them, spiritual ability users suffer no discrimination and can live peacefully.

Within this city, there is a Spiritual Ability Guild very similar to the adventurer guild.

The Spiritual Ability Guild regularly assigns tasks to young spiritual ability users, training them while teaching them self-reliance and how to interact with non-spiritual ability users.

The city sprout is well-equipped in every aspect, more like an independent city-state.

As the founder, naturally became the highest ruler here.

is not an aloof dictator; on the contrary, they are quite approachable. When discussing city construction, they fully listen to voices from different social strata, adopting the most prudent approach while publicly explaining the impracticability of other plans. The administration is also highly transparent.

Just stepping into the city, a warm and harmonious breeze blew over Yang Yu and his group.

People generally think that a city inhabited by spiritual ability users and corpses would be a gloomy place, ominously reeking of death. However, the reality was quite the opposite of what they imagined.

Yang Yu could understand Hualan’s eagerness to return here, even if it meant ”abandoning” her own brother.

Growing up healthily in such an environment, spiritual ability users are quite willing to contribute to the city’s development when they mature.

A person who grows healthily under the protection of their family naturally wants to give back to that family. When they realize there is something larger that protects them, they also naturally want to do something for it.

Yang Yu thought that if time was ample and spiritual ability users continued to unite firmly as they were, ’s led spiritual ability users would eventually become an indomitable force in this world.

However... over time, more and more people would covet the power of spiritual ability users, undoubtedly bringing considerable trouble to the city.

How far this city can go depends on whether it can withstand various trials.

Hualan is a formal member of , so Yang Yu and his group were unimpeded on their way, receiving respectful glances as they arrived at ’s mansion.

Outside the mansion, Wang Wu Yidru, the current leader of , and the cane-leaning Icaro Flo, had long been waiting.

Upon seeing Icaro Flo, Hualan eagerly jumped off the carriage, ran to her master’s side, and asked about his health with concern.

Icaro Flo displayed a gratified smile, noticing that Hualan had unknowingly matured a lot, comforting her not to worry.

After some pleasantries, Wang Wu Yidru invited Yang Yu into the mansion to sit and chat.

Yang Yu did not stand on ceremony and sat by the table where usually held meetings, getting straight to the point:

”Leader Forget Me, we had Hualan contact you before we came.

You know why we’re here today.

You are still in contact with the Republic Congress of Tolan, right? I want to know about the demon’s situation.”

Commanding their contracted spirit body to serve tea to Yang Yu and the others, Wang Wu Yidru helplessly shook his head,

”Unfortunately..... during your absence from the Tolan Republic, Tolan Republic issued a warning about demons to all countries, but no trace of the demons has been found yet.

Now, many countries are busy preparing for the Demon King Descent... with demons at large, there are no signs of chaos, so many regions might laugh it off as a rumor, focusing their efforts solely on building defensive structures.”

Yang Yu was not surprised by this result, ”If demons wanted to cause trouble, they would have made a move when we attacked the Curse Sect.

Since there has been no news so far, it shows they are lurking for some reason.

The absence of trouble means they are waiting for some opportunity.

Whether the Demon King descends or not, we must not relax our guard.

It’s not out of the question that demons want to create greater chaos, plunging the world into turmoil.

Since there’s no useful information, let’s end the topic of demons here.

Let’s talk about the ’Transcendents.’”

Understanding, Forget Me nodded, ”Nagasarro should have told you most things, and he completed his mission excellently... Do you have any other questions?”

”How should I put it,” Yang Yu placed two differently colored keys and a unique square box on the table, ”I just have some unique thoughts that I want to confirm.”

Wang Wu Yidru glanced at the square box and keys, ”What do you want to confirm?”

”As an S-Class adventure group, you must have heard about Hero Lux’s maze, continuously appearing in this world.

After passing through Hero Lux’s maze, one receives such keys. When enough keys are collected, they form the square box you see now, this square box guides us to challenge the special underground maze left by Hero Lux.”

Yang Yu paused,

”I wonder whether the underground maze guided by this square box and the maze you are guarding are indeed the same entity?”

”Why would you think that?” Wang Wu Yidru asked.

”Collecting five keys is akin to standing out in the vast sea of people.

Every time you pass through Lux’s underground maze, it rewards you with quite extravagant prizes.

If someone wants to seize keys from those who have cleared Lux’s underground maze, they must take some risks.

If someone acquires keys solely through plunder, it shows they have some skills...

Such people, those people, can also be counted as the ones Hero Lux wants to find.

The reason Hero Lux specifically asked you to find ’Transcendents’... is probably because he believes if Transcendents are always active on the stage called the world, there’s no way for them to clear those underground mazes and gather five keys.

Thus, Hero Lux secretly arranged for you to leave a backdoor for the Transcendents.

In this way, Transcendents can enter the special underground maze prepared by Hero Lux without keys, participating in his selection.

This is just my personal speculation.

So, what is the real truth?”
