Demon King: Hero, don’t run away!

Why do hidden elders in games and novels always want to test the younger generation?

They simply want to compare the young person in front of them to their past selves to judge the young person’s aptitude, or perhaps they wish to impart some wisdom, gained from many years of experience, to the youngster before them. Rarely is it purely to nitpick.

From Karakka’s expression, Yang Yu could tell she was a mix of both and wasn’t purposely looking for trouble.

Her actions were truly too dangerous; if it weren’t Yang Yu here but someone else, they might have lost one or two fingers directly.

Though fingers smoothly cut off can be reattached using Healing, it’s inevitable that some bad memories will linger.

But Karakka definitely assumed he could dodge her attack, which is why she launched it so intentionally.

If he couldn’t dodge, it might invite some cold sarcasm from her, hearing her boast and lecture a long discourse, in her mind, losing the qualification to obtain the Shield.

To keep things from getting too complicated, Yang Yu nonchalantly smiled:

”I understand the feeling of the elder here, but attacking without greeting like this could make the younger generation dislike it.

Let’s say only this: it tests one’s true strength.

Given the elder’s realm, it should be easy to see a person’s skills, just need some simple interaction.

It’s completely unnecessary to do this.”

Yang Yu’s words were very plain, devoid of any emotion, yet made Karakka feel uncomfortable:

”It’s the first time I’ve encountered a junior who dares to speak to me like this at the first meeting.”

”I’m also encountering for the first time an elder who directly swung a blade at a junior in the first meeting.” Yang Yu shrugged as if he didn’t take Karakka’s words to heart, ”Since the elder wants to teach me, of course I’m willing to oblige.

However, if our strengths are too disparate, I might hastily surrender seeing no hope of victory.

Could we set a rule so I don’t surrender hastily and have some hope of victory?”

”Interesting. It seems like you know your own abilities. Alright, what kind of rule do you want to set?” Karakka readily accepted Yang Yu’s proposal.

”Elder, how long do you think I can last under your hand, or withstand a few moves? At what extent do you think I can accomplish?” Yang Yu smiled.

Linglu Huakai of [Dragon God’s Might] and Wanjing Zhuhua of [Red Blood Rose] vaguely sensed Yang Yu laying a trap for Karakka.

Before Linglu Huakai could speak up to urge both to take a step back, Karakka confidently replied:

”I know what you want to say.

Such situations have happened more than a few times.

If you can last under my hand for five minutes, whether by escaping or holding on in battle, if you can hold out for five minutes, then you win.”

”Five minutes is too long, how about three minutes?” Yang Yu haggled.

”Five minutes it is. I believe you have the capability beyond five minutes.” Karakka refused Yang Yu’s bargaining.

Seeing the Task prompt appearing in the system, Yang Yu didn’t haggle further, reluctantly said:

”Alright then. I’ll do my best to last five minutes. Let’s start now.

We’re not here for the Evil Dragon but to conquer Hero Lox’s maze.

Currently, there’s no way to confirm if there are others trying to conquer Lox’s maze, the sooner we go in, the sooner we complete the strategy.

Actually, I don’t want to waste time, but seeing this elder so enthusiastic...

it’s hard to refuse.”

As Yang Yu spoke, he moved towards the open ground, Karakka understandingly stood opposite Yang Yu.

The others wanted to stop but it was too late, they could only stand by quietly and watch Yang Yu, to see if he gained any growth during this period.

Only one person was indifferent to the fight.

Sena unknowingly found herself beside Lotcar, burying her cheek in Lotcar’s fluffy mane, enjoying the softness of the fur.

Without much preamble, Karakka simply greeted Yang Yu, confirming he was fully ready, then unsheathed her sword from her waist, raising a cloud of dust beneath her feet, approaching Yang Yu in the blink of an eye.

Karakka’s Profession is Magic Swordsman, relying on magic as support for the swordsman type. Magic Swordsmen can be further subdivided based on the learned magic and swordsmanship, notably tricky ones being control-type and buff-type Magic Swordsmen.

Karakka was once a member of [Dragon God’s Might] and even rose to become Deputy Leader.

Yang Yu had long mentally prepared for Karakka’s excellence in control and buff aspects.

Magic Swordsmen are indeed powerful, but they have a fatal flaw. Due to the need to coordinate magic, Magic Swordsmen’s attacks usually have a long wind-up.

Yang Yu thought about how to last these five minutes; using his speed advantage to flee, always keeping Karakka at a distance might be a very good choice.

However, if he runs, it gives Karakka ample time to prepare.

Now it’s a one-on-one duel; Yang Yu doesn’t have Iyas to relieve control, dispel the opponent’s buff, once Karakka applies full buffs and controls him, the outcome could be quickly decided, and he’d be unable to gain her Experience.

Hence, Yang Yu decided to take the initiative to engage.

When Karakka moved, Yang Yu moved too.

Karakka was a bit surprised by Yang Yu’s active engagement, her sword hilt manifested a radiant Array,

”[Frozen Sword]”

A chill blew from the radiant Array, forming Ice Crystals on Karakka’s Sword Blade.

[Frozen Sword], as long as it hits the enemy, can apply sustained slowing to the enemy, how much it slows depends on [Frozen Sword] hit number and the duration adhered to the target.

Karakka heard of Yang Yu’s combat style from Gushan. Facing speed-type opponents, Control is the King’s Path.

”[Ice Pure Binding]”

Simultaneously releasing [Frozen Sword], a white Array also formed under Karakka’s feet, as Yang Yu stepped on the Array, countless frozen ground surged out, enclosing Yang Yu’s feet, binding him in place.

Karakka without any hesitation, her eyes suddenly transforming into Dragon Eyes, emitted strong pressure:

”[Giant Dragon Gaze]”

An intense force field instantly expanded, like a giant dragon gazing at everything around, making everything unable to move.

It’s really relentless, starting with a combo of three strong moves.

But Yang Yu still hoped she could first see the opponent in front of her before using these Skills.

Karakka’s Sword Blade without hesitation cut through Yang Yu’s body, splitting Yang Yu’s body in half.

Unfortunately, Karakka only cut one of Yang Yu’s shadows.

The real Yang Yu, earlier, before being entangled by the frozen ground, used [Incredible Braking Boots] to forcibly halt his forward attack, taking a backward step followed by a small right leap, reaching Karakka’s side.

[Giant Dragon Gaze] and [Ice Pure Binding] are both range-based Controls, if Karakka had switched the release order, Yang Yu might really have been bound, slowed by Karakka’s [Frozen Sword].

However, Yang Yu’s decisive and swift judgment changed the course of the battle, preventing him from being disadvantaged from the start.
