Demon King: Hero, don’t run away!

In the end, after that player went through great efforts to send the people over, that group disappeared without a trace in the blink of an eye.

The pace of the Demon King Army’s attacks remained unchanged, rendering him speechless with anger, leading him to decide to completely relinquish involvement, no longer getting involved in the war between the Demon King and the Hero.

Unfortunately, his decision to avoid provoking the Demon King didn’t mean the Demon King wouldn’t seek him out.

Under the relentless pursuit and interception by various assassins, that player began living a life of stealth, silently praying for the Demon King’s retreat.

On a certain day while he was in hiding, that player suddenly received a message from his suicide squad.

An indescribable joy welled up from his heart; if he could bring those people back and market their heroic deeds and the various ”evidence” they brought back, he could leverage them to rise rapidly and live quite a comfortable life.

However, when that player spared no effort to get to the other side of the Gate, and distracted the demon soldiers guarding the gate to bring back the suicide squad he dispatched, everything shattered his illusion.

In the end, only three members of the suicide squad returned, and two of them started complaining bitterly as soon as they saw the player.

The remaining squad member was a thin man holding a box, named Sirulu, who was once an adventurer.

After returning to this world, Sirulu looked around, seemingly searching for something. When his search proved fruitless, his originally joyful expression gradually froze.

Sirulu suddenly knelt before the player, pleading bitterly, asking the resourceful player to traverse the Gate of Demon World to bring back his wife or send him back to the Demon World.

The situation was urgent, and the player refused Sirulu’s request, knocked him unconscious, and took him back.

Initially, the player wanted to hear the squad’s glorious deeds, but they appeared like complete failures, having neither prevented anything nor achieved significant victories, and gained no noteworthy spoils from the demon clan.

The unconscious, box-holding Sirulu was huddled in a corner of the room, staring silently at the box in his hands.

The player found an opportunity to open the box, only to find it empty.

The box seemed quite valuable, but seeing Sirulu’s appearance, the player retained a bit of humanity and left the box with Sirulu.

There were no significant achievements to show, and no evidence to prove they did anything earth-shattering, so even with extensive marketing, they’d only be ridiculed endlessly by everyone.

Not long after retrieving those squad members, news of the Hero defeating the Demon King spread across the continent, and the world returned to peace.

The player eventually abandoned the idea of exploiting them for hype and gave them some consolation money before dismissing them.

The civilian player ended his life on the run and found other means to make money.

Once he earned enough money, he spent a considerable sum freeing a batch of slaves and retreated into the deep mountains with a harem.

The diary turned into an unsightly piece of explicit content, describing his various life experiences with the harem and boasting about his skills and how much he was adored by them.

Yang Yu was left speechless, wanting badly to skip these detailed depictions, but considered that he was reading this diary to find the reason for the village’s demise, so he endured it.

Fortunately, perhaps the player himself grew tired of writing such content, as the amount gradually decreased, returning to normal diary entries.

The player didn’t write in the diary daily; he only noted down significant events, and often briefly summarized other times at the beginning of a new entry.

In the latter part of the diary, the intervals between entries became increasingly longer as he lived through a fairly peaceful era.

During this time, the most significant event was solving the issue of magic beasts in the deep mountains without having to act impressive each time. That player acquired the skill of crafting Skill Scrolls, transforming some of his skills into scrolls to teach his children, and laid out strict village rules.

The rule of not spreading skills casually was established back then.

Aside from this, in his later years, an old man of similar age to him, accompanied by a little purple-haired, beast-eared girl, visited him, requiring a batch of extremely special boxes.

The old man’s appearance and that of the beast-eared girl were glossed over, but the number of boxes and what they said were remembered clearly.

”A box that can contain these five keys, looking like this; the box connects to the magic power inside the keys, and the magic array inside is like this. Once five keys are placed inside, the box becomes very hard to open. The total is twenty-one.”

The old man emphasized this repeatedly, and the civilian player felt impatient several times, but hearing that they were willing to fortify their village with a Barrier, he patiently listened.

The civilian player summoned his most promising son, promising personal involvement in the creation before the old man stopped reiterating. After paying a substantial deposit, the old man left.

That player lived on to see the items handed over to the old man and the strong Barrier arise near the village, finally passing away peacefully.

The diary had no further entries after he delivered the items, except the last page of the book, scrawled shakily:

”Nothing can ever go exactly as planned, but I have no regrets in my life.”

After taking a long time to finish the diary, Yang Yu felt some connections gradually forming in his mind.

Was the village destroyed because it helped Hero Lox?

But why was it left to be dealt with slowly until now?

If the solid Barriers were part of Hero Lox’s plan, could that explain it?

With the constant protection of the solid Barrier, the village avoided many disturbances from powerful magic beasts, leaving little need for many to strengthen their abilities...

Back then, the Hero might not have been confident in completely destroying the civilian player’s village, and only began in recent decades. It’s plausible…

The more Yang Yu thought, the more uneasy he felt, as he took out the box containing the Labyrinth Key of Lox.

Although the reward for the task of conquering the Hall of History might be quite substantial, the danger of falling into certain traps was not to be taken lightly.

As Yang Yu waned deeper into distress, they found themselves having unknowingly arrived at the location of the Hall of History.

It was a vast wasteland, where the cold wind howled and jagged rocks scattered, looking completely different from the views Yang Yu and his companions had previously seen.

This could possibly be related to the current weather, but Yang Yu felt it was a result of environmental changes.

For some reason, Lotcar gradually slowed down, and Iyas stood up from Lotcar’s back, gazing into the distance.

Ahead of them, someone had already beaten them to it.
