Demon King: Hero, don’t run away!

After understanding the situation on Lang Yi’s side, Yang Yu succinctly told Lang Yi:

”The ancient ghost that has come from the past, we still don’t know its whereabouts yet.

You have seen the situation, we can’t communicate with it through language.

After communicating with the spiritual body of Hualan, we discovered that the language it speaks might be the same as the song chanted by Jiao Xi.

If we encounter it again in the future, Jiao Xi’s chanting might calm it down and provide an opportunity for communication.

If we can pull it to our side of the camp...

At the very least, prevent it from wreaking havoc around the world, it will help us a lot.”

Lang Yi nodded: ”I’ll inform the others. Is there anything else?”

”No more for now. I’ve said what needed to be said before we parted ways.

We have no way of knowing what this world will become.

Now, we can only watch and see what the approaching Demon King will do, and then respond accordingly based on their actions.

Find a way to turn the passive into active.”

After chatting with Lang Yi for a bit, Yang Yu ended the communication.

He had understood everything he needed to understand, and explained everything that needed explaining, Yang Yu glanced at the task panel.

Even with this level of understanding, no new task popped up on the system’s task panel.

The conditions to trigger the task still seem insufficient.

Regardless of whether or not a new task appears, the things Yang Yu needs to do are essentially decided.

After bidding a simple farewell to the ”Corpse Collection Coffin,” Yang Yu and his companions set off to the Goddess Sect church without stopping.

The Goddess Sect holds a high position in every human country, and they can move between countries without any complex procedures, basically coming and going as they please.

Upon arriving at the church with the teleportation array, Yang Yu and his companions received some badges engraved with the Goddess symbol.

These were tools given to Yang Yu and his companions by Ussiger. Wearing them signifies that they are carrying out a special task assigned by the Goddess Sect.

With this badge, they can enjoy various privileges in the church without needing to explain too much.

Gratefully accepting the badge, Yang Yu used the teleportation array to leave the Teren Republic and arrived once again in the bustling Setis.

Reflecting on the last time he came here, it was probably three or four years ago.

Not lingering too long in the church, Yang Yu and his companions traversed various bustling cities to head towards the Hall of History.

While Yang Yu and his companions were busy, most of the nobles within Setis were still indulging in revelry, attending a grand ball held by a collateral branch of the Setis Royal Family, showing no urgency despite the Demon King’s impending arrival.

In a corner of the ballroom stood a middle-aged man clad in silver-white armor, his white medium-length hair tied back.

Time had left only faint traces on the forehead of the middle-aged man, who appeared mighty, noble, and gallant, yet his face bore a subtle trace of worry, starkly contrasting with the cheerful and lively atmosphere.

This person seemed like a knight from somewhere, but his identity was very noble; he was a bona fide Duke.

It was precisely because of his Duke status that he was allowed to wear armor to the ball.

He was not the only one wearing armor at the ball.

A Holy Knight, bearing some resemblance to the middle-aged man, crossed the hall, coming to stand before the middle-aged man amidst the watchful gazes of the attendees:

”I’m sorry, Father, I came late. There were some matters at the church that required my handling.”

The middle-aged man showed no displeasure on his face: ”Bosius, no matter how busy you are, change your clothes before coming, it won’t take much time.

The guard here is enough with me.

You rarely get a vacation from His Majesty, and ended up going back to busy yourself with matters of the Goddess Sect...

You should communicate more with people your age, otherwise, when it comes to inheriting the title, it’ll be quite awkward.”

Bosius Mallin awkwardly scratched his head, smiling apologetically at his father:

”I’ll pay attention next time.”

While the father and son were conversing, a slightly plump man, swaying a wine glass, accompanied by two certain ladies, approached the two of them,

”Duke Rotis Marling, it’s really hard to see you at this rare ball, and indeed you two father and son are wearing a distinctive set of armor, trying to attract everyone’s attention in a different way?”

Contrasting his greasy appearance and frivolous tone, he possessed extremely peculiar eyes.

Those were eyes with star patterns, where starry glints, reminiscent of the twinkling stars in the sky, shimmered within the pupils.

”Duke Doro Krenge, we didn’t have such intentions.

My son just finished a task for the Goddess Sect and didn’t have time to change clothes, and I came wearing armor specifically to ensure everyone’s safety here,” Rotis Marling explained.

”Who dares attack us? This is the heart of Setis Kingdom, incredibly safe, besides if anyone were to attack, aren’t the soldiers outside enough?” Doro Krenge questioned.

”That’s not necessarily true.” Rotis’s eyes flashed with a trace of concern, ”You’ve heard about some recent events. Better safe than sorry.”

”Tch—” Doro Krenge clicked his tongue, his greasy face reflecting a slight taunting expression, ”Would you really believe everything those from the Teren Republic say? Even if demons do exist, it’s unnecessary for you to guard here.”

Your son, possessing extraordinary strength, is a special person selected by the Goddess, and the power you wield now pales in comparison to his. If anything happens, he’ll be the one to act.

How is it that Duke Rotis Marling doesn’t trust his own son’s abilities?

It’s no surprise, though I assumed your son was a strong contender in this year’s Dragon God Conference, and he was even ranked third on last year’s Genius List, he was eliminated in the third round by some unknown novice, not even making it to the top sixteen.

He really squandered His Majesty’s nurturing of him.”

Doro Krenge sipped his wine, sarcastically taunting Rotis and his son, speaking in a provoking tone.

His unabashed voice reached the center of the ballroom, causing many to pause their dance and look toward the source of the sound.

Bosius Mallin, a rare High Order Holy Light Ability holder, unveiled his Holy Light potential at the age of seven, started studying at a significant church of the Goddess Sect at nine, graduated at fifteen, and has since served as a guard to the King of Setis.

Having such an excellent son, Rotis naturally became a target of some people’s envy, but no one present expected that Doro Krenge would belittle him so openly and bluntly under everyone’s gaze.
