The Unveiling of Secret Queen

Nicholas looked as if he had something to discuss with Amadeus Yancey, so he generously waved his hand and said, ”You go ahead.”

Nathalie Quinlan took her phone and went outside to make a call.

...

On the other end, Nicholas waited for her to walk away before retracting his gaze. Leisurely, he picked up the teacup, sipped some water, and lifted his eyes to the distinguished-looking man in front of him. With a hint of inquiry and negotiation in his eyes, he said, ”You heard it, I intend for Nathalie to succeed my position. The chair of The First Research Institute is not easy to sit on. I plan to introduce her to Martin when you come back. What do you think?”

The Yandor Sect has certain ties with the Hidden Family.

This is one of the reasons Nicholas sought to negotiate with him.

He trusted Amadeus Yancey would not harm Nathalie Quinlan.

Nicholas’ fingers pinched the rim of the cup, the pads of his fingers rubbing repeatedly, indicating he had been pondering this issue for quite some time. His slightly sharp eyes looked aged, ”Once she becomes my successor, she will inevitably face these people sooner or later. Given this, I want her to interact with them early on to prevent being caught off guard in the future...”

”Director, she hasn’t agreed to be your successor yet.”

After Nathalie Quinlan walked away, Amadeus Yancey’s aura was no longer restrained, and his presence was no less than Nicholas’, even showing signs of surpassing him.

He was distinguished and capable.

Even Nicholas dared not underestimate him.

However, this statement by Amadeus successfully irked him. He ground his back teeth, irritably said, ”Stop it.”

”You didn’t want to take over, so fine. I finally found a successor, and here you are, cursing me.”

Nicholas, feeling indignant and slightly helpless, lowered his gaze and sighed, ”At my age, how many decades do you think I can hold out?”

Amadeus Yancey retracted his flippant expression and, after pausing thoughtfully, said, ”I was joking, don’t take it to heart.”

Nicholas’ lips curled into a bitter smile but he didn’t take offense, saying, ”I know you were joking, but I’m serious. I can’t hold out for several more years. The First Research Institute will inevitably need a successor. I can’t hand over The First Research Institute to the Kingsleys Family or the Davidson Family to inherit; otherwise, The First Research Institute would be tainted... I need someone capable to inherit the institute, essentially protecting it.”

Nathalie Quinlan doesn’t need The First Research Institute; it’s The First Research Institute that needs Nathalie to protect it.

Otherwise, after he’s gone, the major powers in Inderia will definitely devour The First Research Institute until there’s nothing left!

While he’s still around, he can rely on the relationship with the Hidden Family to intimidate these people, but after he’s gone, what will become of the institute?

That’s why he needs Nathalie to take over.

Amadeus Yancey, being insightful, quickly understood Nicholas’ plan with just a few words. He raised his eyebrows, his deep gaze fixed on him for a moment before finally offering his advice: ”If you want her to inherit the institute, you need to give her enough time and not constantly pressure her. If she’s willing to take over, she’ll tell you. Persistently asking will only make her think longer.”

After listening to him, Nicholas fell into contemplation.

Just at this moment, the girl finished her phone call and returned.

She returned to her seat, noticing Nicholas deep in thought, curiously asked, ”What were you discussing?”

Amadeus Yancey handed her a piece of paper again, glanced at Nicholas, and blandly diverted the topic: ”Nothing much. What did Audrick Zachmann say to you?”
