The Unveiling of Secret Queen

The next day, at six in the evening, Nathalie Quinlan woke up from her sleep.

She propped up her forehead, got out of bed, and took a sip of water. Lowering her eyes, she saw the phone screen on the table flashing.

Nathalie held the water in one hand and picked up the phone, walking towards the sofa.

Amadeus Yancey had put a small single sofa in her bedroom, and Nathalie loved to curl up on it to relax whenever she had nothing to do.

She had just woken up.

The girl’s eyes still carried a hint of sleepiness; she looked quite languid and relaxed sitting on the sofa as she lit up the phone.

She almost stayed up for 36 hours without sleep over the previous two days, and at night she simply put her phone on silent to avoid being disturbed.

From last night to today during the day, the phone had been bombarded with various messages and phone calls.

She just opened it to see seven or eight missed calls.

From Khendy Lordon to Nicholas Fuller and several people from the laboratory, even Williansen Barness had called her.

Nathalie didn’t respond for now and then opened WhatsApp and her email.

Both were also filled with various messages.

She casually tapped two messages with her fingertip, both asking about Zevaney Kingsley’s affair.

[Mrs. Sullivan: Ms. Quinlan, I heard about Zevaney Kingsley. If there’s anything I can help with, please let me know.]

[Agnes Baker: Today both Leony Davidson and Zevaney Kingsley didn’t come to the institute, are you okay?]

[Valencia Jett: Qiao, I heard from someone that you dismissed Zevaney Kingsley, what’s going on?]

...

Nathalie glanced at the timestamp of the messages, they were mostly concentrated in the morning.

She held her phone and was about to get up to fetch water when Orson Saban’s call suddenly came in; Nathalie answered casually, ”Hello.”

”What’s your relationship with Amadeus Yancey?” Orson Saban was not someone who enjoyed gossip, so when it came to personal affairs of the students under him, his tone was a bit uneasy. After a brief pause and in silence, he said, ”I heard from the dean that you’re dating him?”

Nathalie was just about to get up and had already placed the phone aside on speaker mode. Upon hearing this, her half-closed eyes suddenly cleared, rubbing her forehead, she uttered an ’ah’ with a bewildered look: ”?”

”I was just asking casually.” Orson probably felt embarrassed midway through his sentence and tried to smooth things over himself.

Nathalie was silent for a moment, palm propped against her head, feeling very headachey, but straightforwardly admitted her relationship with Amadeus: ”We are dating.”

She acknowledged it with such candor that Orson was taken aback: ”You and him...”

With a bellyful of things to say, his words circled around at the tip of his tongue, seemingly yielding to fate: ”Forget it, this is destiny.”

”I probably owe him from a past life. Meeting such a good seed in this life only to find them entangled with him... doomed fate...”

Through more than a month of interaction, Orson Saban particularly recognized Nathalie’s talent in experimenting.

He had the intention to nurture her.

Looking at the current situation, it seemed his efforts were about to go down the drain again!

”...” Nathalie paused, still not understanding the significance of this call.

Fortunately, Orson quickly adjusted his mood, saying: ”That video and email have fermented so much that everyone in the institute now knows about it. When will you come around?”

”What video?” Nathalie was basically fully awake, fetching herself a glass of water, leaning against the table, she inquired.

Orson was somewhat surprised: ”You don’t know?”

Just as the water in the cup reached the brim, Nathalie picked up the mug, answering quite nonchalantly: ”I don’t know.”

”My phone was charging last night, I didn’t see the messages.”

Orson understood what was going on. Concisely, he said to her: ”Amadeus stood up for you, making the Zevaney Kingsley matter a big issue. The Kingsleys Family now wants to come forward to bail her out, but the institute’s stance is to dismiss her.”
