The Unveiling of Secret Queen

Willy Kingsley gave a careless laugh and simply made it even clearer, so she wouldn’t stay delusional: ”You and I both know very well that your talent with black powder can’t compare to Nathalie Quinlan’s. All these years you’ve only managed to learn a bit faster than the others by grinding yourself to the bone. As long as Therry Kingsley has a little time, sooner or later he’ll catch up to your progress. When that happens, do you really think the Kingsleys Family will still bet everything on you alone?”

”Stop it.” What Zevaney Kingsley hated most was people saying she was inferior to Nathalie Quinlan!

But Willy Kingsley偏偏 wanted her to hear it: ”There are still quite a few people in the Kingsleys Family who haven’t given up on bringing Nathalie Quinlan back. For example, that James Lawrence at the Clan Chief’s side—this time he’s spoken up a lot on Nathalie Quinlan’s behalf.”

”What runs in Nathalie Quinlan’s veins is the precious bloodline of the Kingsleys Family’s direct-line descent, while you are nothing more than someone they picked from a collateral branch to replace her.”

”If the Kingsleys Family hadn’t never been able to find her, do you think you’d ever have had a chance to rise to the surface?”

From the moment Nathalie Quinlan entered The First Research Institute to the moment she secured Orson Saban’s participation in the level-8 laboratory confidential project... it took her at most three months all told.

Just on that alone, the value of one Nathalie Quinlan is something ten Zevaney Kingsleys can’t measure up to!

The only thing Willy Kingsley regretted was that he’d been too reckless at the Start, making things between the two sides so rigid that there was no room to patch it up; otherwise he would’ve long since left himself a way out.

But there are no ifs in this world.

Willy Kingsley glanced at Zevaney Kingsley lying on the bed, shook his head with a trace of regret, and his tone grew even harsher: ”Right now things still haven’t blown up to the point of no return. You still have room to maneuver. Think it through for yourself—what really matters more.”

Zevaney Kingsley bit down on her lip, the taste of blood filling her mouth. She stared with open eyes and said nothing.

Willy Kingsley looked back toward the outside, afraid Lynn Kingsley and Hansel Kingsley would come in. He didn’t dare waste time and said to her, ”The Clan Chief and the others are still outside. I’ll go out first.”

Zevaney Kingsley watched with her eyes wide open as Willy Kingsley walked out of the ward without a backward glance, Heart sinking.

Her gaze once again fell on the Phone, and she finally, slowly lifted her Arm, reaching for the Phone on the cabinet.

Zevaney Kingsley found a set of phone numbers and dialed out.

The First Research Institute.

Harvey Cadorette got Zevaney Kingsley’s phone call just as he’d finished changing Clothes and walked into the laboratory.

Zevaney Kingsley was sobbing so hard on the other end of the phone call that she could barely speak.

She kept saying over and over that she hadn’t meant it, that it was just a prank, that she hadn’t expected Leony Davidson to really poison her own Aunt...

Harvey Cadorette listened until his head ached, but he was too embarrassed to cut her off.

But he wasn’t stupid; he certainly understood why Zevaney Kingsley was making this phone call to him.

He saw that Zevaney Kingsley had already been talking for five minutes and still hadn’t gotten to the point.

Harvey Cadorette forced down his impatience and interrupted her: ”Junior Sister Kingsley, just say whatever it is. I’m in a hurry, my Tutor is still waiting for me to go in and help.”

Zevaney Kingsley hemmed and hawed for a moment before finally stating her purpose: ”Harvey, you and Nathalie Quinlan are in the same laboratory. If you see her today, could you help me say a few words, pass along my apology to her?”

”This...”

The incident of Zevaney Kingsley instigating Leony Davidson to poison someone had blown up big.

Everyone at The First Research Institute had received the Group Email Amadeus Yancey sent out, so Harvey Cadorette naturally knew what fine thing Zevaney Kingsley had done.

When Zevaney Kingsley came to ask him to plead on her behalf, Harvey Cadorette’s first reaction was to frown, instinctively wanting to refuse.

But Zevaney Kingsley didn’t give him the chance. She choked back a few sobs and said in a low voice, ”I... I’ve already received the punishment I deserve.”
