The Unveiling of Secret Queen

Chapter 1002: Chapter 1002: What Do You Want to Eat Tonight?

After replying to the message, Nathalie Quinlan got up to dry her hair.

Her hair was already half dry, drying completely after only a breezy blow.

Having dried her hair, Nathalie felt a bit thirsty and went back to her desk to grab her mug, only to find it empty.

Her eyebrows and eyes clearly showed her irritation. Just as she put the mug back down, she noticed from the corner of her eye that her phone screen lit up again.

Leaning casually against the desk with one leg crossed over the other, she picked up her phone and saw it was a message from Amadeus Yancey.

”What would you like for dinner?”

Nathalie had just put the mug halfway down when she half-squinted at the message. Deciding to do so, she unplugged the phone from its charger and walked outside.

Downstairs, after Amadeus Yancey had sent the message to Nathalie Quinlan, his phone lit up again.

It was another phone call from Candice Yancey.

It was already the third call today, and it seemed that if he didn’t answer, she would keep calling. He massaged his temples and tapped his desktop with his white jade-like knuckles, but eventually answered the phone unhurriedly.

”Hello.”

”So, you little scoundrel, you’re ignoring my calls now, huh!”

Amadeus’s headache was exacerbated by her powerful voice, so he subtly moved the phone a bit further from his ear and responded nonchalantly, ”No, was just busy with something and didn’t see the phone.”

”I think you just didn’t want to answer.” Candice Yancey said and, without wanting to beat around the bush, got straight to the point, ”Is Nathalie with you? Is she alright? What’s this leaked news online about, is it really about her? Who did it, do you want me to help out?”

Amadeus Yancey lounged comfortably, leaning against the sofa with an eye-catching face that showed no emotion, his gaze slightly darkened as he spoke calmly, ”You don’t need to worry about this, I’ll handle it.”

”And how do you plan to handle it?” Candice Yancey’s voice was fast and heavy, ”The old man also knows about this now. He was just asking me about it. I don’t know the details either and only told him I didn’t know. He’s probably going to give you a call later, so if you’ve decided to deal with it yourself, you’d better soothe your grandfather first.

”...The Yancey Family is not just any family. There are so many eyes on us in Beijing. If you’re committed to Nathalie, you have to protect her well!”

Amadeus Yancey’s gaze settled on the Buddhist beads on his wrist, and he answered indifferently, ”I know. You don’t need to worry about this, I’ve got it under control.”

”Is Nathalie with you?” Candice Yancey did not continue to pursue his plan, but asked with concern, ”Is she okay?”

Amadeus Yancey lifted his eyelids and looked towards the second floor, his lips pursed thin, unsure whether to answer that there was a problem or not at this moment.

Just then, there was a movement from the second floor, and a door opened, as if someone was coming out.

His hand holding the phone paused, and he promptly said to Candice Yancey, ”Aunt, there’s something going on here, I’ll have to talk to you later.”

”What’s so urgent that you can’t talk to me, I haven’t even asked you a few questions. Tell me about Nathalie’s situation first, is she alright?”

”I’ll talk to you about it later.” After saying that, he hung up the phone on Candice Yancey.

Alfred Garland also noticed the movement on the second floor. He had been standing aside, silent and looking very downcast, but now he suddenly stood upright and said in a subdued voice, ”Amadeus, Ms. Quinlan is coming down.”

Amadeus Yancey had already put down his phone and checked the WhatsApp conversation where the last message still showed the one he sent about ’what to have for dinner’, which Nathalie hadn’t replied to at all.

His eyes deepened as he looked towards the stairs again.
