The Unveiling of Secret Queen

Chapter 644: Chapter 644: I Feel Like You’re Playing Me, But I Have No Evidence_1

”Their computer is fried!” Just then, a technician announced the outcome of the data war, unable to hide his excitement.

”Damn! That felt good!” someone exclaimed, thoroughly delighted.

Wallace Radcliff was happy too, with a smile beaming across his face as he approached the girl, completely changing his earlier dismissive attitude and speaking up cheerfully, ”Miss Quinlan, that skill of yours is impressive, have you considered your major for university? How about computer science? Once you graduate, you could join our team.”

The Ninth Institute encompasses the most secretive intelligence and cutting-edge technology, full of the top talents in the nation. Radcliff may not seem like much, but he himself is a computer expert.

Only, his expertise isn’t in programming; it lies in software and chip development.

His casual invitation actually carried significant weight.

Not just anyone could enter The Ninth Institute.

By extending this offer, he was acknowledging Nathalie Quinlan’s abilities.

Unfortunately, the girl calmly typed the last line of code, repaired the previously compromised defense system, exited the coding interface, closed her laptop, and succinctly declined, ”I’ve already chosen my major and don’t plan to change.”

Curious, Radcliff looked at her and asked, ”What major did you choose?”

He assumed it would be something computer-related.

Who would have thought that the girl, lifting her chin and adjusting her cap, would casually say, ”Chinese Medicine.”

Radcliff: ???

Radcliff: ...

Radcliff: ”Ha, Chinese Medicine?”

What does that have to do with computers?

He simply couldn’t picture the girl in front of him donning a white coat, sitting behind a padauk desk, backed by a large cabinet with hundreds of drawers filled with herbs.

The scene of her treating patients and dispensing medicine.

It was too incongruous!

”There’s no future in Chinese Medicine. Why don’t you switch departments? With your talent in computing, it would be a waste not to study it!” He came back to his senses and persuasively declared, ”What university did you get into with a recommendation? I have a bit of influence, I can talk to the president and switch you to the computer science department.”

He thought that Nathalie Quinlan had chosen Chinese Medicine because her grades were poor and she had no other choice, having to adapt to the major she was assigned in order to get recommended for university placement.

Computer science is a popular major in many schools. One must score dozens of points above the entrance exam threshold to even consider this major.

He meant well and genuinely wanted to help, but the girl handed him back his laptop, replying in a relaxed manner, ”Oh, Tsinghua University.”

Radcliff: ...

Tsinghua University?! The most prestigious institution in the country, the century-old university that only those with over 600 points on their exams dared to contemplate.

He had some pull, but not enough to get through the back door at Tsinghua University.

It took a while, but Alfred Garland finally saw his chance to speak up. He came over, resting his hand on Radcliff’s shoulder, speaking with evident pride, ”You don’t need to worry about Miss Quinlan’s major. She chose Chinese Medicine because she loves it, not because of poor grades. In this joint exam, Miss Quinlan scored first place at Tsinghua.”

Radcliff, struck by blow after blow, could hardly find his voice, ”First?”

His gaze fell upon Nathalie Quinlan, and it somehow felt very normal that she would score first place.

Yep, nothing strange at all.

But Garland didn’t let him off easily. He nodded emphatically and with emphasis in his voice added, ”Yes, first. Perfect score, 650 points. The first person in Tsinghua’s century-long history to achieve this in the joint exam.”

Radcliff, hit by another arrow to the heart: ...

I think you’re messing with me, but I have no proof!
