The Unveiling of Secret Queen

Chapter 617: Chapter 617: Let Nathalie Return to McKinney Sooner_1

He furrowed his brow, a handsome face tense with seriousness as he said, ”But this isn’t McKinney! Beijing is not a place where you can act arrogantly. Here, there are many people who might look unassuming but actually have profound backgrounds. Here, it would be best for you to put away your prickly way of dealing with people. It’s fine to talk to me like this today, I won’t take it to heart considering the many years we’ve known each other. But if it were someone else, they might not be as understanding as I am, got it?”

Nathalie Quinlan couldn’t understand where he got the idea that she usually interacted with people prickly, nor could she fathom where he found the confidence to educate her here. His incessant voice buzzed in her ears constantly, making her furrow her brows and shove her hands into her pockets, just as she was about to speak.

Zayn Fisher’s phone started to ring.

With a gloomy expression, he picked up the phone and saw that it was a call from Zeus Tanzil.

He didn’t dare ignore Zeus Tanzil’s call, suppressing the annoyance in his heart, he answered the phone, forcing his voice to sound less angry.

”Hello, Mr. Tanzil.”

He glanced at the girl in front of him, feeling overwhelmed, and said solemnly, ”Yeah, I’m in the hotel. I saw him—I mistook someone else for a friend, just a stranger who had a similar profile from the back. Alright, I understand, I’ll come over right away.”

He hung up the phone and put his phone away.

Turning back to look at Nathalie Quinlan, his voice still carried a note of warning as he hastily said, ”I have something to attend to shortly and won’t have time to deal with you. Leave early on your own. This isn’t the place for you; head back to McKinney sooner rather than later.”

Nathalie Quinlan, annoyed beyond measure, pulled down the brim of her hat, her lips pursed, and impatiently said, ”I don’t need your concern. Just take care of yourself!”

Her words infuriated Zayn Fisher all over again, his rising anger surging towards his forehead. As he was in a hurry to meet with Zeus Tanzil, he had no time to say more, only feeling that she was being utterly ungrateful. He had only intended to be kind, yet she offered no appreciation, leaving him without a way to save face.

This wasn’t Ghania’s character at all.

In the same situation, he believed if it were Ghania Quinlan, she would handle it much better, making both parties more comfortable without causing any embarrassment.

Thinking this, Zayn Fisher felt his concern cool like doused with a bucket of cold water, subsiding.

He put away his phone, straightened his tie on his suit, a handsome face exuding a coldness, and then, irritated, said, ”Do as you like. I’ve said what needed to be said. If you won’t turn around until you hit a wall, I can’t do anything about it.”

Huh?

She wouldn’t turn around until she hit a wall? Nathalie Quinlan almost choked on outrage, feeling utterly disgusted as if she was about to regurgitate her meal from the night before. The disgust was so profound that she couldn’t even be bothered to respond, and she just prepared to leave.

Zayn Fisher actually wanted to ask her about the joint college entrance exam, wondering if she had indeed scored full marks and was accepted into Tsinghua University, as Zeus had said. But then Zeus’s second call came through.

Watching the girl who was ignoring him walk away, he pursed his lips, and while walking back, he brought the phone to his ear: ”Hello, Mr. Tanzil, please wait, I’m on my way back.”

On the other end.

In the banquet hall, Shawn Norton was radiant today, full of vigor.

He was dressed in a brand-new suit, his salt-and-pepper hair neatly combed back, not a hair out of place. Even his usually smile-less face seemed somewhat amicable as he greeted approaching guests with a nod.
