The Unveiling of Secret Queen

Chapter 640: Chapter 640: You Think Knowing How to Turn On and Off a Computer Means You’re Proficient?_1

They could only watch helplessly as the Ninth Institute’s much-vaunted defense network was methodically dismantled by the enemy.

Nobody in the room looked pleased.

As the main culprit, Alfred Garland’s face had turned extremely ashen; the tall man, nearly one meter eighty, had eyes rimmed red with frustration. Nathalie Quinlan observed his regret, almost as if he wished he could slap himself in the face, and with a sigh, she stepped forward and said, ”Shall I take a look?”

About twenty people stood in the corridor, amidst this tense atmosphere.

Her light words seemed particularly jarring.

The man who had just criticized Alfred Garland for carelessly bringing her along narrowed his eyes, looked her up and down, and with utter contempt asked, ”You?”

Nathalie Quinlan was not intimidated by his scornful gaze; she nodded confidently, hands in pockets, standing erect and somewhat defiantly, ”Right. Me.”

”Ha?” The man laughed, his face looking fierce; when he laughed, he became even more intimidating.

He spoke with a temper flare, ”What would a greenhorn like you know? Have you even graduated from high school? Do you know what C is? Do you know what Library Functions, Multithreading, or source code are?”

Nathalie Quinlan didn’t utter a sound, but the corners of her eyes showed nonchalance, revealing her confidence.

C, source code—she actually knew these.

Wallace Radcliff took her lack of response as being unable to answer, and said disdainfully, ”Do you think using a computer means turning it on and off, occasionally running some antivirus software and knowing how to find a few apps online makes you computer savvy?”

That was a bit too much.

”Mr. Radcliff, Ms. Quinlan means well! There’s no need for you to take your anger out on her!” said Alfred Garland, stepping in front of Nathalie Quinlan.

The atmosphere in the corridor froze for a moment.

Just then, the technician who had come to report that the Ninth Institute’s defense program had been breached intervened, ”They’ve started to steal our data.”

”Damn!” A burly man hammered his fist against the wall, his complexion turning a shade of green as he muttered, ”Amadeus hasn’t woken up, what do we do now?”

What to do, who knew what to do? They couldn’t just go to the sickroom and dig the man out; even if they could, Amadeus Yancey was human, not a god. How could he possibly sit up and work in such a condition? That was pure fantasy.

”I...” The technician didn’t know what to do either, with a pair of desperate and helpless eyes, he constantly monitored the jumping data on the computer while updating them, ”They have the chip, and the download is progressing swiftly, our display shows that twenty-five percent has already been downloaded... at this rate in less than ten minutes, they will have copied the entire data area of the Ninth Institute...”

The Ninth Institute’s database contained all the cutting-edge technology and confidential intelligence that had never been disclosed to the public domestically—if lost, the consequences were unimaginable!

No one could afford that outcome.

Wallace Radcliff, gritting his teeth, moved quickly towards the inside, ”No way, I’ll try to find a doctor to wake Amadeus up, he’s the only one who can stop them now.”

Someone stopped him; ”Mr. Radcliff, don’t be impulsive, you know Amadeus’s situation...”

Wallace Radcliff’s eyes were blood-red, his glare fierce as if he could devour the person, ”Then you tell me what to do, do we just stand here and watch helplessly as the enemy steals our data? Standing here, unable to do anything?!”

”I can’t do that.”

There were over a dozen people from the technical department here, all of them bowing their heads, shamed into silence.

It was at this moment that Nathalie Quinlan said to Alfred Garland, ”Give me a computer.”
