Ms. Diviner: The Prodigal Daughter's Return

Chapter 388: 388 great hermit blending in the mundane world

Che Xiang also had a radiant complexion, brimming with vitality; whether in dress or demeanor, he was completely transformed from when they had first met.

”While working at the Chamber of Commerce, have you become accustomed?” asked Han Yan as he walked with Che Xiang toward the back courtyard.

”I must thank the Young Master for giving me this opportunity. Only after coming to Nanyan Commerce did I truly understand what I should do with my life. Previously I was set on cultivation, always hoping to ascend in one leap, but I wasn’t cut out for it. In the end, not only did I achieve nothing, but I also burdened my family.

Now, learning the ways of business under Housekeeper Sun and studying the art of authenticity with Master Qu at Nanyan Commerce, I adapted quickly and am living much better than before. My parents can finally enjoy some pleasant days.

Young Master, I’ve given it thorough thought. With my abilities, to follow by your side would not be of much help. In fact, should danger arise, I would be more of a hindrance. If you don’t mind, I would like to stay at Nanyan Commerce for the rest of my life, dedicating myself wholeheartedly to managing its affairs. What do you think?” Che Xiang looked at Han Yan with hope.

”It’s best that you think this way. Nanyan Commerce is doing well now, but our goal is to build it into the strongest Chamber of Commerce in Anyun Country, and even on the Holy Court Continent, so we require a great number of hands. I’m very pleased that you wish to stay at the Chamber,” said Han Yan, gratified.

Actually, Che Xiang’s abilities weren’t too poor, but limited by his family circumstances, he missed the best opportunities for cultivation. However, with his exceptional Eye Power and talent for authenticity, coupled with his meticulousness, he was indeed an excellent candidate for commerce.

Han Yan himself had no interest in managing the Chamber of Commerce’s daily affairs, at most making an appearance in his free time or at critical moments. So, typically, it required others to handle things. For now, it was manageable, but as the Chamber expanded, it would need ever more staff, and with more staff, there’s inevitably a mix of good and bad. Securing several capable assistants now would prevent future chaos.

After all, Han Yan had much broader experience and vision than Nan Mu.

So Han Yan was actually quite pleased that Che Xiang thought this way. It was about right person for the right role; one couldn’t just keep everyone at his side as enforcers. He wasn’t a true playboy.

”Thank you, Young Master. I will give it my all and certainly won’t let you down,” said Che Xiang, unaware of the ambitions Han Yan shared with Nan Mu. Hearing her words, he felt his blood surge with excitement.

Upon reaching the back courtyard, and after preparing tea for the two, Che Xiang excused himself to assist at the auction house.

After sitting for roughly an hour, Housekeeper Sun and his disciples from Qu Mountain Lingqu hurried over. Despite being covered in sweat, they were beaming with high spirits.

”Who would have thought—I certainly didn’t imagine—that in just a few months, our Nanmu Auction would grow to this scale,” Housekeeper Sun remarked as he wiped the sweat from his brow.

Initially, when he joined Nan Mu in creating the auction house, he was impressed with Nan Mu’s courage and audacity at such a young age, as well as a vision that far outstripped his years. On top of that, he was moved by Nan Mu’s impassioned and bold speeches.

Thinking back, he realized he had been swept away in the moment, his passion leading him to sign an indenture contract blindly.

Therefore, he never imagined that, in less than a year, the little auction house would evolve into the present Nanyan Commerce.

Upon reflection, all these changes seemed to have occurred after Han Yan’s arrival. The notion of a born loser, an ignorant fool—that if someone were to say such things before him now, he would surely spit in their face.

A born loser, an ignorant fool—others would think this a grand master hiding his talents, living a provocative life. Not to mention anything else, but just the Star Divination Skill alone, even his Master, Qu Mountain Lingqu Master, had humbly sought to learn from this reclusive genius.

Now, Housekeeper Sun truly admired Han Yan with the utmost respect.
