Ms. Diviner: The Prodigal Daughter's Return

Chapter 362: 362 The Awkward Faces of the Two Elders

As the conversation reached this point, Mu Yuying and others had already crowded into a carriage and entered the courtyard, heading towards the council hall. The two halted their conversation and looked towards the approaching group.

”Where is Han Yan?” Not seeing Han Yan in the crowd but spotting a carriage, the Great Elder’s face darkened, and he asked displeasedly.

Without guessing, he knew that the Eldest Young Master Mu must be inside the carriage.

This Han Yan, even at such a time, couldn’t change his playboy nature. While others walked, he actually rode in a carriage. Didn’t he know what the consequences would be if he failed the task? Yet, he still dared to be so ostentatious!

The more the Great Elder thought about it, the angrier he became. The elders were still standing at the gate, exposed to the cold wind, and this insolent boy was still enjoying the comfort of the carriage. Who did he think he was? If not for maintaining his status, the Great Elder really wanted to drag him out and give him a severe beating.

”Brother Han Yan suffered severe injuries on the way and is resting in the carriage,” Mu Yuying said.

”He suffered severe injuries?” The Second Elder said with a face full of scorn, speaking sarcastically, ”What a great excuse, an excellent pretext indeed. Outsiders say that our Family’s Eldest Young Master has grown wiser and become cunning. I didn’t believe it at first, but now I have no choice but to. Failing the mission is one thing, merely deserving some punishment, but to fabricate such a reason to evade responsibility? Do you really think we are fools!”

”Humph, playing such tricks in front of his own family, this Han Yan is truly incorrigible,” the Great Elder grunted heavily.

The Third Elder furrowed his brows. The Second Elder had assigned Han Yan to lead the team to Xiushui City, and he was, of course, aware of his intentions, which he quite disapproved of. After all, being an elder in his seventies or eighties and using such methods to bully a teenager seemed to be beneath his dignity.

He had already decided earlier that if the Second Elder’s punishment were too harsh, he would speak out a few words in defense of Han Yan. It shouldn’t be that several old men unite to bully a child using such tactics.

But witnessing this scene, even he felt that Han Yan had brought it upon himself. Failing the mission was one thing, but why use such an excuse? Couldn’t he confront the situation honestly? Even if he needed to make up a reason to save face, wasn’t bringing a carriage too excessive? Was he asking for trouble?

He really did not know where Qu Shanling saw that he was a Heavenly Star. Apart from other things, just based on this incident, the Third Elder was becoming more skeptical of his discernment.

Enough is enough, this boy’s actions are too arrogant; he deserves a lesson.

The Third Elder sighed and decided not to concern himself with Han Yan’s fate any longer.

Han Yan, who was just about to step out of the carriage, saw that the Great Elder and Second Elder, regardless of the truth, were so eager to pick a fight against him, looking forward to seeing him suffer. This made him less anxious to get out.

”Great Elder, Second Elder, Brother Han Yan did indeed suffer injuries,” Mu Yuying said urgently, trying to clear up the misunderstanding about Han Yan. Seeing that Han Yan hadn’t come out, she worried even more that he might be genuinely unwell.

”Yes, Brother Han Yan indeed suffered injuries. We all witnessed it,” Mu Xijie and others also unanimously supported Han Yan.

”Get out of the way, this is not your place to talk!” Seeing these younger family members suddenly change their tune, supporting Han Yan unanimously as if they had drunk a love potion, the Second Elder’s expression grew even uglier, and he sternly reprimanded them.

Seeing the Second Elder’s anger, though Mu Yuying and others felt resentful on behalf of Han Yan, they dared not speak any further.
