Ms. Diviner: The Prodigal Daughter's Return

Chapter 370: 370 can pick it up and put it down at will

”It’s good that Grandfather can think this way,” Mu Cheng said with great joy after personally witnessing how Han Yan safely emerged unscathed from below the Meteor Shower. With every bit more he understood about Han Yan, he felt an additional bit of fear toward him. Now, he even harbored a few more bits of reverence and was even less inclined for Grandfather to be enemies with Han Yan.

”Alright, you’ve had a long journey too. Go back and rest for now. Don’t be in a hurry to take this Qi Transformation Pill – wait until you hit a bottleneck before taking it,” Second Elder told Mu Cheng.

”I understand, Grandfather,” Mu Cheng said.

”Also, try to minimize your interactions with Fourth Miss Zhao in the future. I always feel that she’s up to no good, and that she harbors ill intentions for being with you,” Second Elder warned Mu Cheng.

”Oh,” Mu Cheng responded without daring to talk back, his voice buzzing with acknowledgment. However, he felt somewhat depressed inside. Han Yan had told him to stay away from Fourth Miss Zhao, and now Grandfather was saying the same. Sigh, why did they all have such deep prejudices against Fourth Miss Zhao?

What he didn’t know at that time was that it wasn’t others who were too prejudiced against Fourth Miss Zhao but that he himself was infatuated.

While Second Elder and Mu Cheng were deep in conversation, Third Elder was also inquiring about Mu Ziqing and Mu Nan’s trip to Xiushui City.

”I really didn’t expect this playboy to have such an encounter,” Third Elder remarked after listening to their description. He fell silent for a long time before letting out a drawn-out sigh.

”Grandfather, do you believe Master Qu’s words now?” Mu Nan asked with a smile.

”Heavenly Star descending to earth, huh? Heh, I was quite skeptical at first, but after hearing your account, I’m starting to believe it. I originally thought Han Yan would be Mu Rui’an’s weakness, that we could use him to undermine Mu Rui’an’s authority. But it seems, Han Yan is not his weakness but may become his greatest supporter,” said Third Elder with a bitter smile.

Over the years, in an attempt to take back the position of Family Head from Mu Rui’an, which they believed rightfully belonged to themselves, Third Elder and the other two elders had tried every possible way to oppose Mu Rui’an. Unfortunately, not only was Mu Rui’an extremely powerful, but he also acted meticulously, leaving them with no way to deal with him. Thus, they thought of using Han Yan to relentlessly pressure Mu Rui’an. However, now it seemed they had been too optimistic in their thinking.

”Grandfather, to be frank, if you really became Family Head or the City Lord of Heishi City, would you truly do better than Big Brother Rui’an?” Mu Ziqing couldn’t help saying.

Once again, Third Elder fell silent. He had also seen everything Mu Rui’an had accomplished after coming to Heishi City. Even though it was hard for him to admit, he had to acknowledge that he might not do a better job than Mu Rui’an as Family Head or City Lord.

Not to mention dealing with the Zhao Family or the Zhou Family, which he might not be able to handle.

”Honestly, no matter who becomes Family Head, isn’t it all for the Mu Family? As long as Big Brother Rui’an can take our Mu Family of Heishi City to greater heights, then letting him be the Family Head – what’s the harm in that? In the end, we all stand to benefit,” Mu Ziqing persuaded.

”Enough, I’ve grown old, and even if I wrested the position of Family Head, how long could I hold on? Besides, what you said is not wrong – as long as it’s for the good of the Mu Family, who becomes Family Head doesn’t matter,” Third Elder said with a bitter smile.

”Grandfather’s ability to let go so graciously and with such an open mind truly impresses me,” Mu Nan said sincerely.

”Cut the flattery. I’m open-minded my ass. I’m simply aware that the person behind Han Yan is not someone to provoke, and that’s why I must stop,” Third Elder glared at Mu Nan and said irritably.

Though he spoke these words, he did genuinely decide to give up the struggle for the position of Family Head, and just like that, his mood became much lighter.
