Ms. Diviner: The Prodigal Daughter's Return

Upon hearing these words, the faces of Mu Yuying and the others changed slightly, and the countenances of the other family members also turned less pleasant. They had not thought much of it at first, only feeling that the lessons from the elders were justified, that even if Han Yan could not complete the mission, he should have stated it openly. There was no need to feign injury to avoid punishment, and it was disrespectful to show such an attitude in front of several elders and the Family Head.

But hearing this, they felt that the actions of the Second Elder were somewhat despicable. Even if he did not get on with Han Yan and sought an opportunity to deal with him, he should not send his own family members to their deaths. As members of the Mu Family, who would want to be betrayed in such a manner?

”Nonsense! I too only just found out about this matter; how could I have known anything about him before, let alone send you to your deaths?” The Second Elder, seeing that the looks from the younger generation were becoming strange, knew he had spoken out of turn in his excitement and hurriedly explained.

”Second Elder, since you received the news and knew of Yan Yuchu’s prowess, you should have immediately sent someone to support us. Yet you sat by idly, letting us face life and death struggles on the outside. Upon seeing us return safely, the first thing you did was not to check for casualties among us, but to rush into enforcing the family disciplinary action. Second Elder, may I ask why is this so?” Han Yan’s tone suddenly became stern.

The Second Elder was left speechless, Han Yan’s words had hit the nail on the head. If the younger members of the family were facing life and death struggles outside, those who were their elders indeed ought to send support. How could they disregard their lives and deaths and be solely intent on capturing someone to enforce family discipline?

As Han Yan spoke out in this way, not only did others look at the Second Elder with even stranger gazes, but he himself felt somewhat unreasonable.

However, the Second Elder also felt somewhat wronged. In the past, whenever a clan member was out on a mission, when had he not been worried and prepared to send support? It was only this time that he was too eager to catch Han Yan red-handed, hoping for his misfortune, so he did not provide support as he had before.

But how could the other junior members of the family think so much? The looks they gave him clearly conveyed less reverence and more questioning than before.

Seeing their questioning gazes, the Second Elder’s face turned even redder.

He had intended to discipline Han Yan, but not only was Han Yan fine, it seemed that his own lifetime of reputation was now at risk of being destroyed. Alas, he was too hasty, too hasty indeed. How had he inadvertently picked up a rock only to drop it on his own feet?

The Great Elder also gave him a glance. This Second Elder was still too impatient. When they had a favorable situation, why did he have to disclose Yan Yuchu’s strength? Wasn’t that giving Han Yan the opportunity to find a loophole?

Since when had Han Yan become so formidable?

”Han Yan, do not think that with your glib tongue you can escape the family law. This time you failed to complete the mission — that’s one thing, given the opponent’s strength is too strong — but you chose to feign injury and deceive your superiors and mislead your subordinates. How do you explain that?” Knowing he couldn’t let Han Yan keep targeting the Second Elder, the Great Elder skipped over his involvement and loudly questioned Han Yan.

All the Mu Family’s disciples looked at Han Yan with sympathy. Facing a Sword Master Realm expert, it wouldn’t matter if he failed to complete the mission, but why on earth would he be so clever as to fake an injury? Wasn’t that just asking for trouble?

”Great Elder, Han Yan indeed did not deceive anyone; he is truly injured, and I can testify to that.” Just then, the voice of Mu Ziqing sounded from inside the carriage.
