Ms. Diviner: The Prodigal Daughter's Return

”Crack, crackle!” Just then, a cracking sound reached my ears, like a thick, ancient door opening after being sealed for ages.

Then, the entire Treasure Vault began to shake violently, and the light and shadows before my eyes changed rapidly, as if traversing through time and space.

”Boom,” a muffled sound erupted, the distorted illusion of light and shadow vanished, and the rows of stone shelves and the spacious hall once again became clear and distinct.

Mu Hanyan took a few steps forward, felt a weight upon her body, and found herself back in the middle of the hall. Looking back, she saw a large hole in the stone wall, revealing a stone chamber not even ten feet in height or width.

At the very center of the stone chamber rested a stone coffin; two long-burning lamps on the wall had long been extinguished, casting an eerily chilling aura.

Good heavens, it was actually a tomb chamber!

Mu Hanyan was not afraid of ghosts and spirits, but thinking that she had been in this tomb chamber all along still sent a chill down her spine.

Fortunately, her attention was quickly diverted. As the stone wall broke away to reveal the tomb chamber, another small hole appeared in the opposite wall, revealing rows of exquisitely arranged wooden boxes. If she was not mistaken, those should be the treasures and strange artifacts the Great Elder had secretly stashed away.

In reflection, she really should thank him. If he hadn’t hidden all the good stuff, Mu Hanyan might have left with her spoils long ago, without spending a moment longer in this sinister and terrifying place, and certainly would not have stumbled upon the ensuing adventure.

Even so, Mu Hanyan wouldn’t feel indebted to the Great Elder for this.

She stepped forward to open a wooden box, and was instantly greeted with a refreshing Elixir Fragrance; her guess was correct—these were indeed the treasures Housekeeper Geng had secretly hidden.

”Meridian Healing Pill, Heart Nourishing Pill, Clearing Divine Pill, Energy Replenishing Pill...” What great items! Although these elixirs didn’t compare to the Vessel Cutting Marrow Cleansing Pill, they were still extremely valuable, and more importantly, good pills were hard to find; even with money, they couldn’t be bought.

She had not expected that the Mu Family had hidden away so many precious items. Mu Hanyan wouldn’t be polite with the Great Elder—since he had so graciously made the offer, would it not be disrespectful to be modest with him?

After stuffing the elixirs into her bosom and packing the top-quality Medicinal Herbs and exotic flowers onto her shoulders, Mu Hanyan freed her hands to also carry more than a dozen Longswords of decent quality upon her back.

At this moment, Lady Mu was covered with bundles all over her body, with unevenly protruding sword hilts sticking out from her back—as if they were planted in her, you could barely make out her human shape up close, but from a distance, you might think she was just a pile of clutter randomly stacked together.

...

”How come that brat hasn’t come out yet?” Outside, after waiting for a long time without seeing Mu Hanyan emerge, Mu Feng spoke with puzzlement.

”Don’t you know the character of that good-for-nothing?” The Great Elder replied with a smug laugh. ”Always pretending to be more than he is. It’s a rare occasion that I let him into the Treasure Vault; if he returns empty-handed too quickly, how could he have the face to meet others? He’ll likely stay inside for a few more hours and might wait until midnight when no one’s around to sneak out.”

”Hehe, I heard that the good-for-nothing got cocky in front of the Great Elder and even dared to act unruly. But to come to the Treasure Vault and end up with nothing—I wonder if he’ll be so embarrassed that he’ll run into a wall?” Housekeeper Geng said with a snicker.

Well, he actually wasn’t wrong—Lady Mu did indeed run into a wall, but the final outcome was beyond his expectations.

”Boom!” Just then, a dull sound came, and the entire Treasure Vault began to tremble violently.

”This is bad!” The Great Elder’s complexion abruptly changed.

”What’s wrong?” Mu Feng was still confused when he saw the Great Elder dash into the Treasure Vault like a gust of wind.

Mu Feng and Housekeeper Geng sensed trouble as well and hurriedly followed suit.
