Ms. Diviner: The Prodigal Daughter's Return

”Got enough, or if you haven’t, grab some more,” the Great Elder said, his irritation sparked by that standard playboy grin. He waved his hand as if shooing a fly, his tone a mix of annoyance and mockery.

”Hold on, it seems like I really could take a bit more, wait for me, I’ll go grab it,” Mu Hanyan suddenly said.

So, the Great Elder and his companions watched as a pile of person-shaped odds and ends slowly turned around and made their way back to a small, broken hole in the wall. Mu Hanyan picked up a longsword, slung it onto his back, and headed towards the door at an even slower pace.

Listening to Mu Hanyan’s breathing, which was as labored as a bellows, Housekeeper Geng broke out in a cold sweat, Mu Feng’s eyes widened, and both forgot to wipe the fresh blood from their foreheads.

It really is true: for riches, people die; for food, birds perish. Who would have thought that Mu Hanyan, the notorious Big Playboy Mu, known for his idleness and neglect of proper business, could also exhibit such perseverance...

The Great Elder was also left dumbstruck. He’d truly underestimated the boy’s persistence; had he known Mu Hanyan could hold up like that, he wouldn’t have prompted him with that remark. Suddenly, the Great Elder felt an impulse to slap himself.

...

Carrying that heap of eclectic items back to his room and dropping them onto the floor, the clanging sound made Mu Hanyan feel as if he had shed the weight of three great mountains from his shoulders, instantly feeling lighter.

Turning around and just about to flop onto the bed for a rest, he caught sight of Mu Rui’an’s face, filled with shock—exactly like the Great Elder’s.

”Dad, what brings you here?” Mu Hanyan asked affectionately.

”How did you carry all this back? It must weigh at least two or three thousand pounds, right?” Mu Rui’an looked at his apparently more delicate frame compared to that of an average man, feeling a mix of amusement and sympathy.

”When you want to carry something, naturally you just do it,” Mu Hanyan replied.

”The Great Elder saved up all these possessions for decades. He never even had a decent meal in all that time, and in an instant, you’ve cleared him out. He’s probably going to be heartbroken,” Mu Rui’an shook his head and chuckled, then said, ”But what are you going to do with all this stuff? You’re not going to sell it and squander the fortune, are you?”

Although Mu Hanyan’s name as a playboy shone largely due to his own doings, in his heart Mu Rui’an didn’t wish for him to become a true wastrel, nor did he want to see the Great Elder’s hard-earned efforts thrown away entirely.

”Of course not. These things are going to be very useful,” Mu Hanyan said.

He remembered the past life wherein, sooner or later, the Zhao and Zhou families would join forces with other clans to deal a fatal blow to the Mu Family. Though ultimately it wasn’t lethal, the Mu Family had still suffered greatly, struggling for many years. If it weren’t for Mu Nan’s Chamber of Commerce flourishing and providing substantial aid to the family, they probably would have declined into second-rate status.

In this life, he would never let such an event take place. Mu Ze, Mu Yuying, and Mu Cheng, among others, had some natural talent. If cultivated properly, they could greatly enhance the family’s strength.

The Great Elder had scrimped and saved to amass these elixirs and cultivation techniques, with good intentions and little selfishness, but not utilizing them fully was no different from being a miser.

If he wasn’t going to use them, Mu Hanyan would do it for him.

Mu Hanyan didn’t elaborate, and Mu Rui’an didn’t probe further. He was becoming increasingly perplexed by his treasured daughter; he only knew one thing for certain—someday, she would surpass him. In fact, whether in temperament or strength, she was already far superior to him, even in his younger days. Therefore, he would rather not interfere too much in such matters.

”Did you find that thing?” Mu Rui’an suddenly asked.
