Quick Transmigration: The Cannon Fodder's Comeback in the Era Tales

Chapter 750: Chapter 750: Live-In Son-in-Law 12

With the son-in-law having a job, he will feel more secure at the Sheng Family, and treat the daughter and little granddaughter better.

But now, the job was sold by their daughter, and the son-in-law is certainly going to have complaints, maybe even a rift with their daughter.

Mrs. Sheng was worried about the daughter’s and son-in-law’s relationship breaking because of this, and in her anxiety, she got a cold sore on her lip, ”You tell me, you silly girl, why on earth did you sell the job, you, you... I don’t even know how to scold you.”

”Wife, don’t scold Yuan Chun, I was the one who told her to sell it.”

In the room, Mr. Sheng called out.

Mrs. Sheng went angrily to the east room, scolding, ”You old fool, what kind of nonsense are you up to?”

”Keep your voice down, don’t let the neighbors hear and laugh at us. It’s just a job; when Xiao Bei grows up and doesn’t need looking after, we’ll spend money to buy one again. What are you so mad about?”

Mrs. Sheng stepped forward and pinched Mr. Sheng’s arm, ”Why wouldn’t I be mad, last night we agreed to let Dashan take over the job, but today you all changed your minds. How can I face Dashan now, I’m embarrassed, I...”

”Alright, it’s just a job. If he truly respects you as his mother-in-law, he wouldn’t resent you for a job.”

”I...”

”Okay, wife, don’t blame our daughter, it was all my decision.”

”Hmph, don’t think just because you’re an injured old fool that I won’t scratch you.”

”Yes, yes, yes, my wife is very powerful, I admit defeat.”

”Pfft, don’t try to sweet-talk me. This isn’t over, after dinner, we’ll settle this.”

Mrs. Sheng left the east room with a black face and went to the kitchen, seeing Qin Dashan had already cooked the rice and was serving it. Mrs. Sheng walked over and gently smiled, ”Dashan, don’t worry about the job, we’ll get you another one when the opportunity arises.”

”Your father is home and indeed needs someone to look after, when he gets better, I...”

”Mom, I’m hungry, bring the food over quickly.”

Yuan Chun’s voice came from the main room.

Mrs. Sheng’s words were cut off, she opened her mouth, wanting to continue, but Yuan Chun stood at the kitchen door, looking impatient, ”Mom, Dashan, Xiao Bei and I are hungry. Why is it taking so long to serve the meal?”

Qin Dashan said, ”It’s almost ready, go ahead and take your and Xiao Bei’s bowls.”

He handed Yuan Chun two bowls of rice, his face as gentle and kind as ever, without a trace of the anger and resentment he held inside.

The dinner was lavish, with two meat dishes and tofu, Yuan Chun and Xiao Bei ate happily, but Mrs. Sheng, preoccupied, couldn’t eat. She picked several pieces of braised pork for Yuan Chun, ”Eat slowly, no one is competing with you. Why eat so fast?”

”Mom, I haven’t had braised pork in ages, I’ve been craving it.”

”Then eat a few more pieces.”

She picked up her chopsticks and piled a few more pieces on her daughter’s plate.

A lunchbox of braised pork, most went into Yuan Chun’s stomach, a portion into Mr. Sheng’s. Xiao Bei was still young, ate two pieces and couldn’t eat any more.

Mrs. Sheng didn’t eat a single piece.

Qin Dashan only ate one piece, if not for Mrs. Sheng giving it to him, Yuan Chun wouldn’t have let him have even one.

After eating to their fill, Yuan Chun patted her bottom, took her daughter to the courtyard to digest.

Mrs. Sheng and Qin Dashan cleaned up the dishes together, and in the kitchen, Mrs. Sheng said, ”Dashan, go rest, I’ll wash the dishes today.”

Not able to let the son-in-law take over the job, Mrs. Sheng felt guilty towards him and wanted to find a way to make it up to him.
