Quick Transmigration: The Cannon Fodder's Comeback in the Era Tales

Chapter 729: Chapter 729: Fleeing from Famine 34

”It’s... it’s Old Huo from the cow shed.” The messenger followed behind the team leader, ”He fell in while trying to save the Geng family’s little grandson and granddaughter.”

Upon hearing the mention of her children, Yuan Chun panicked. She dropped the fish and forgot about the money from the accountant, and raced after them.

At the same time, her spiritual power expanded, sweeping towards the pond at the village entrance.

There was a group of children, some crying, some cursing, some yelling for help, making a noisy commotion. On the ground lay someone.

Yuan Chun focused her eyes and saw it was Huo Guochang, who had been rescued. He was drenched, lying on the ground unconscious, his life or death uncertain.

Yuan Chun’s face darkened as she asked 007, ”007, what happened just now? Did you record a video?”

looked regretful, ”Host, there was a new Tasker in the chat group who traveled to the Beastman World, offering fifty points to exchange for a thousand kilograms of seeds and tools. I saw there were some in the Jade Gourd Space, so I took the deal. I was just confirming the types of seeds with the other party, and didn’t pay attention outside.”

Yuan Chun listened but didn’t blame it.

After all, 007 is just a system; it can’t constantly monitor the Geng family’s children and Huo Guochang.

Yuan Chun ran fast, arriving at the pond ahead of the team leader.

She squatted down, pretending to place her hand under Huo Guochang’s nose to check for breathing, but in reality, she was using her hand to block everyone’s view and secretly slipping a Revitalizing Pill into his mouth.

Team leader pushed through the crowd and asked urgently, ”Geng family, how is he? Is he still breathing?”

”He’s still breathing.”

Yuan Chun pressed both hands on Huo Guochang’s chest, performing CPR.

The team leader was puzzled, ”Geng family, what are you doing?”

”This is a self-rescue method for drowning people. I’ve seen doctors do it in hospitals; with short presses, the person will wake up.”

While pressing, Yuan Chun directed the team leader, ”Team leader, turn Old Huo’s head; he’ll spit out the water in his stomach so he doesn’t choke.”

The team leader feared there might be a fatality in the village during the New Year, so he instinctively followed her instructions even without knowing if he should or not.

The villagers also gathered to watch the commotion.

”Mrs. Da Lin, what are you doing?”

”Mrs. Da Lin, he’s about to die, and you’re hitting him. If someone blames his death on you, wouldn’t you become the bad person who repays kindness with enmity?”

”Mrs. Da Lin, be gentle, don’t press him to death. It’s bad luck to have deaths during New Year.”

”Oh my, this Old Huo from the cow shed died saving the Geng family’s kids.”

”He’s not dead yet, Mrs. Da Lin is trying to save him.”

”Nonsense, who saves people by hitting them? Pressing the chest too long, if not dead, will be dead.”

...

The villagers, lacking knowledge, said all sorts of things, but Yuan Chun ignored them.

She just wanted to save Huo Guochang.

The Geng family’s five children were originally scared to death; seeing their grandmother arrive made them feel relieved. The three youngest surrounded her, crying loudly.

Yuan Chun didn’t have time to comfort them; her mind was full of the need to revive Huo Guochang. She didn’t want him to die saving her children.

She didn’t want to owe Huo Guochang this debt of gratitude.

Nor did she want to have anything to do with Huo Guochang.

Fortunately, Yuan Chun’s efforts paid off.

Not long after, Huo Guochang suddenly coughed, expelling a lot of water, and opened his eyes.
