Quick Transmigration: The Cannon Fodder's Comeback in the Era Tales

Chapter 701: Chapter 701: Fleeing Famine 6

When he was a child, there was a time when the eldest son of the Old Fan Family in the village hit him until he had a nosebleed, and his mother went to the Old Fan Family alone and challenged more than a dozen people there.

She knocked more than a dozen members of the Old Fan Family to the ground, leaving them crying and in tears.

Since then, no one in the village dared to provoke the Geng Family anymore, and his mother didn’t have the opportunity to use her martial skills, which gradually faded from his memory.

In fact, when he was five or six years old, his mother taught him and his older brother martial arts, but because they were playful, they didn’t want to practice, and squatting for an entire morning was especially tiresome.

He tried squatting a couple of times, but refused to do it anymore.

His older brother tried squatting once and quit after that.

Neither he nor his brother had a talent for practicing martial arts.

Now, he regrets not training properly with his mother when he was young and having to rely on her for protection.

Geng Dalin pulled the handcart aside, then sat down next to it holding his young son.

Sun Chunfeng pulled her two daughters and sat beside her husband.

Geng Xiaowu and Geng Xiaoyu sat beside their grandmother.

Yuan Chun looked back, noticing no one else coming, and with the people ahead already far off, she went to rummage in the cart and pulled out a palm-sized leather waterskin.

Yuan Chun opened the lid, drank several large gulps first, then handed it to Geng Dalin, ”Old Second, Old Second’s family, and Xiao Wu and the others, this water from the waterskin I’ve secretly kept aside, each of you drink a few sips, but I must tell you, this is the last bit of life-saving water for our family, don’t tell anyone.”

”Grandma, I won’t say anything.” Xiao Wen obediently shook his head, his eyes fixated on the waterskin in his father’s hand.

Seeing the waterskin was small, Geng Dalin dared not drink much, just wet his lips, then thought to pass the waterskin to his son.

Yuan Chun said, ”Old Second, drink a few more sips, don’t be fooled by the small size, it holds a lot, don’t worry about the kids not having any to drink.”

Unable to resist, Geng Dalin drank a couple more sips then fed his son.

Being young, Geng Xiaowen didn’t understand the situation, seeing the water, he gulped down over a dozen sips, filling his belly, then pointed contentedly at Sun Chunfeng, ”Dad, I’m full, let mom drink.”

Sun Chunfeng drank only a sip, intending to pass it to her two daughters until Yuan Chun persuaded her to drink a few more.

After all the children had drunk, Yuan Chun tucked the waterskin back into the cart.

In reality, she used items from the cart as a cover to store the waterskin in the space.

Having drunk the water and rested for ten minutes, the Geng Family started off quickly, catching up with the group ahead in an hour.

The villagers, hungry, thirsty, and weak, under the increasingly hot midday sun, became unable to continue, so the village head decided to stop the group by a bamboo grove along the road to rest.

The bamboo grew dense, with the thickest being as wide as a large bowl, reaching four to five stories high, while the thinnest were only as thick as a thumb; due to lack of water, the small bamboos were dried up and their leaves yellowed.

Only the thick bamboos retained a hint of green on their stems.

When the Geng Family caught up with the group, the villagers were resting in the bamboo grove.

Yuan Chun directed Geng Dalin to park the handcart aside, then took her five grandchildren to rest in the grove.

”Host, there are quite a few bamboo rats in these bamboos, edible ones.” Yuan Chun had just sat down when she heard 007’s voice.

Yuan Chun’s eyes lit up, and she unfolded her spiritual power, scanning the bamboo grove.
