Quick Transmigration: The Cannon Fodder's Comeback in the Era Tales

Chapter 742: Chapter 742: Live-in Son-in-law 4

”Hmm, go on.”

Yuan Chun waved her hand, looking impatient.

After Qin Dashan left, Yuan Chun gently rubbed her daughter’s head and said to Mr. Sheng, ”Dad, I don’t want to transfer your job to Dashan. If Dashan goes to work, there’ll be no one at home to take care of you and Xiao Bei.”

”Mom, Xiao Bei is very well-behaved, no need for Daddy to take care of her.” The little girl, in a soft voice, lifted her small head and looked seriously at her mother.

Yuan Chun pinched her soft little cheeks and said with a smile, ”You might not need your dad to take care of you, but your grandpa does. That job was earned with your grandpa’s two legs, and mom wants to sell it for money to treat your grandpa’s legs.”

”Mom, I’ll take good care of grandpa.”

”Good, my Xiao Bei is really well-behaved.”

Mr. Sheng disagreed with his daughter’s decision, ”It would be a pity to sell the official job. Give it to Dashan, let him go to work. Your mom has only two years left until retirement. Let her handle early retirement procedures, she’ll just get a bit less pension. It’s better than selling my job.”

”Dad, Dashan is used to doing housework at home, let him stay at home. It’s a pity for mom to retire early, she’ll lose about ten dollars of pension each month. Dad, please listen to your daughter.”

Sheng Xiaobei also said, ”Grandpa, listen to my mom. I want to eat my dad’s cooking every day.”

Mr. Sheng sighed and patted his numb leg, ”It’s all my fault, I’ve become a burden to you.”

Yuan Chun grabbed Mr. Sheng’s hand and comforted him, ”Dad, you’re not a burden. You’re the head of the family. Without you, mom and I would be lost, not knowing how to live.”

”Dad, you must take care of yourself. You are the spiritual pillar for mom, Xiao Bei, and me. With you around, I have the energy to go to work.”

Yuan Chun’s words, like spiritual spring water, revitalized Mr. Sheng’s dying spirit.

Mr. Sheng smiled and nodded, ”Dad will take good care of himself, Dad still wants to see Xiao Bei grow up.”

”Grandpa, I will eat well and grow up fast.”

”Yes, my dear granddaughter is really obedient and so good.”

At this moment, Qin Dashan called from the main room, ”Yuan Chun, Xiao Bei, dinner is ready, come out to eat.”

”Mom, I’m hungry.”

The little girl patted her tummy and struggled to get down, ”Mom, I’m going to find Dad. I need to eat more to grow up fast.”

”You must have smelled the aroma of the egg custard and got greedy.” Yuan Chun pinched her daughter’s cheeks and placed her on the ground.

Sheng Xiaobei didn’t rush out, she said to Mr. Sheng, ”Grandpa, I’m going to eat. I’ll come back to talk to you later.”

Mr. Sheng smiled kindly, ”Go ahead, eat more.”

”Yes, Grandpa, see you in a bit.”

Sheng Xiaobei also said to Yuan Chun, ”Mom, I’m going to eat, you should eat too, and bring some food to grandpa.”

”Okay.”

Yuan Chun grew more and more fond of her little daughter and led her out.

Qin Dashan was serving food to Mr. Sheng. Mr. Sheng’s only problem was his legs; his hands were fine, so Qin Dashan just needed to bring the food into the room, and Mr. Sheng could eat by himself.

When Qin Dashan returned to the table after serving the food, a bowl of egg custard was already gone, split between Yuan Chun and Sheng Xiaobei’s bowls.

A hint of gloom flashed across Qin Dashan’s face, but he quickly smiled and said, ”Yuan Chun, after eating, let’s go to the bicycle factory to finish the paperwork we couldn’t complete this morning. You start work tomorrow, we can’t leave this position vacant.”

”Dashan, I’ve thought it over. We can’t do without you at home. If you go to work, who will take care of my dad and Xiao Bei? Let’s wait a bit on this job.”

As Yuan Chun spoke, she shoveled a mouthful of egg custard mixed with rice.
