Quick Transmigration: The Cannon Fodder's Comeback in the Era Tales

Chapter 743: Chapter 743: Live-In Son-in-Law 5

A trace of gloom flashed in Qin Dashan’s eyes as he regretfully said, ”Yuan Chun, without someone at work, we’re missing out on wages. If I go, I can earn more than thirty yuan a month. We can spend fifteen yuan to hire someone to take care of dad and Xiao Bei. In total, we’ll have a surplus of over twenty yuan.”

Yuan Chun shook her head, ”How can an outsider take care of them as well as you, their son-in-law?”

She suddenly looked at Qin Dashan, asking sternly, ”Dashan, do you not want to stay home to take care of my dad and Xiao Bei?”

”No, that’s not it. I just feel sorry for you carrying so much pressure. Dad has retired, and mom is about to retire too. Soon, our entire family will rely on you to support so many of us. I feel sorry for you. Also, without anyone taking over dad’s job for a long time, I’m worried the bicycle factory will take it back.”

”Don’t worry, I’ve decided to sell dad’s work position,” Yuan Chun said with a smile. ”Dashan, as a son-in-law, everyone in this neighborhood praises you. You’re so good, my parents also adore you. Just stay home and take care of the family. You don’t need to worry about earning money outside. I may not earn much, but it’s enough to support you all, and my parents have their pension as well. Don’t worry, I won’t let you suffer in the Sheng Family.”

Fat chance he’d feel assured.

That damned woman, treating him like a servant, wanting him to slave away for the Sheng Family for the rest of his life.

Qin Dashan was furious, but he didn’t dare to lose his temper with his wife. After all, he was a live-in son-in-law, with no standing in the family.

He advised, ”Yuan Chun, selling such a good job is a real shame. How about having my big brother act on my behalf for two years? Once mom retires, there will be someone to care for dad and Xiao Bei, then let my big brother transfer the job to me. We’ll both be working and earning extra, and can save more dowry for Xiao Bei.”

The daughter was the wife’s beloved, so once he brought up their daughter, he wasn’t afraid she would refuse.

However...

Yuan Chun shot him a glance and said, ”Xiao Bei is still so young. Her marriage is a long way off. Besides, by selling dad’s job, we’ll get at least eight hundred yuan. With that, Xiao Bei’s dowry will be so lavish, the suitors will line up from the east to the west of the city.”

Seeing his wife’s determination to sell the work position, Qin Dashan’s face turned gloomy.

But this was the Sheng Family, and matters at home were decided by the Sheng Family members. He, as a live-in son-in-law, could only keep his head down and work, serving the four generations of the Sheng Family.

Qin Dashan lowered his head and ate.

He had only made two dishes: an egg custard and stir-fried radish slices. The egg custard was gone, and he turned to the radish slices.

After eating just three slices, he reached again but found the plate empty, leaving only a thin layer of vegetable broth at the bottom.

After finishing her meal, Yuan Chun took out a napkin and wiped her mouth, smiling with arrogance, ”Look at me, I actually ate all the food, forgot to leave some for you. Luckily, there’s some broth left in the plate, you can mix it with your rice and eat.”

”No need, I’m full,” he replied.

Qin Dashan, with a gloomy face, quickly shoveled most of the leftover rice into his mouth, then stood up to clear the table.

Yuan Chun cradled her daughter and went to the eastern room.

Seeing Mr. Sheng finished eating, she placed her daughter on his bed. She cleaned up the empty dishes and sent them to the kitchen, instructing loftily, ”Dashan, haven’t washed the clothes I changed yesterday, right? Wash them after cleaning the dishes.”

She turned back at the kitchen door, ”Also, wash dad and mom’s dirty clothes too, so mom won’t have to wash them after coming back tired from a day’s work.”

Qin Dashan gritted his teeth in agreement.
