Quick Transmigration: The Cannon Fodder's Comeback in the Era Tales

Chapter 735: Chapter 735: Fleeing Famine 40

The medicine Yuan Chun gave him was stored from the previous small world, and half an hour after Old Huo took it, his fever subsided.

After eating two large mantou and half a fish, Old Huo immediately felt stronger and revived.

This was his first close face-to-face encounter with his nephew, and Old Huo was very happy. He pulled Geng Dalin to sit down and said, ”How has your mother been all these years?”

Geng Dalin was puzzled: ”...”

What does his mother’s condition have to do with Old Huo?

Why was this old guy concerned about his mother?

Could he be eyeing his mother?

Does he want to be his stepfather?

After all sorts of wild thoughts in his head, Geng Dalin’s face flushed with anger. He shot up, shouldered his basket, and hurriedly ran off.

Old Huo was left completely befuddled. He just wanted to know how his sister had been all these years. Why did his nephew run away?

...

Geng Dalin ran back home without stopping for breath.

After entering the house, he said to Yuan Chun, ”Mom, that Old Huo is no good. You should stay away from him in the future.”

He better not let Old Huo sweet-talk his mom into being with him.

He really didn’t want a stepfather.

Yuan Chun looked utterly confused, ”Yesterday, he saved your two kids, and you said we should be grateful to him. Why are you saying he’s no good today? Did Old Huo hit you in the cowshed?”

Geng Dalin’s face turned crimson, ”No, he’s just not a good person. Mom, if he talks to you in the future, don’t pay him any mind.”

”Hahaha...”

In the System Space, 007 was laughing so hard he rolled on the sofa.

”Host, Geng Dalin misunderstood, hahaha, it’s so funny. Just now, Huo Guochang wanted to know how you’ve been these years, so he asked Geng Dalin, and Geng Dalin got it all wrong, thinking Huo Guochang wanted to be his stepfather, hahaha...”

Pfft...

Yuan Chun had just raised the water to her lips, took a sip, but couldn’t swallow it and sprayed it all out.

Yuan Chun looked at her son as if he were an idiot, ”Dalin, I forgot to tell you one thing. That Old Huo is Yao Wanhua’s son, which makes him my half-brother and your uncle.”

”What...” Geng Dalin jumped up in shock, ”Mom, you’re not kidding me? He’s really my uncle?”

”What benefit do I have in lying to you?” Yuan Chun rolled her eyes at him, then slapped him on the back of the head, ”Don’t let your thoughts run wild in the future. Mom’s too old, what would that old guy be after.”

”Hehe, hehe, wasn’t... this just a misunderstanding? Mom, wasn’t Old Huo—no, Uncle—the one who often gave you food and meat all these years?”

Yuan Chun rubbed her forehead, oh no, she forgot about this bit.

Now how would she cover this up?

Yuan Chun coughed twice, lowered her voice, and said, ”Shh, keep your voice down. Your uncle gave me those things behind your aunt’s back. Your uncle doesn’t want anyone to know, and you should act like you don’t know either. Don’t breathe a word to your uncle. Also, given your uncle’s current situation... we can’t recognize each other. Just pretend you don’t know he’s your uncle. Don’t say anything, not even to Chunfeng, or our whole family might get caught up, and we might end up living in the cowshed too.”

Geng Dalin definitely didn’t want to live in the cowshed, smelling cow dung every day.

Though he had grabbed cow dung with his bare hands without minding it before, that was work. Any farmer handling chores wouldn’t mind cow dung. Working and living with cow dung day in and day out are two different matters.

Geng Dalin nodded like a pecking chick, ”Mom, I’ll definitely keep it a secret and won’t tell a third person.”

”Mm, my son’s mouth is the tightest. Son, go fetch a basin of hot water for mom; I want to soak my feet.”

”Mom, you wait here. I’ll go heat the water for you right now.”

Geng Dalin put down his basket and cheerfully headed to the kitchen.
